Here's a breakdown of my experience: The consult: Emily reached out to schedule a consult call shortly after I submitted my inquiry. The consult call was informative and Emily answered all questions that I had. She was very personable and easy to talk to from the get go. And she really set the tone that this would be a very empowering experience for myself. Following the consult, Emily sent over a questionnaire to be completed prior to the shoot. I loved that the questionnaire gauged the level spicy I was comfortable with, asked about what I love about my body, and even about the things I wasn't fond of. The day of the shoot: call time was at 9 AM. I was greatly warmly and already loved the vibes Emily had set. Hair and makeup was done by Yana, who was as amazing as Emily. MK Boudoir also has a client closet that was very size inclusive! So if you're a plus size girly like myself, I promise you there's something in there for you before starting the shoot, I was given a mini modeling lesson. I was quite anxious going into it because I had never been the most confident girly. But Emily gave me a pep talk reminding me that this was going to be an empowering experience. Once we got the ball rolling, the anxiety went away almost instantly. She would hype me up throughout the shoot and just overall made it such a fun, healing experience. All to say this photoshoot was more than just a special gift to my fiancé. As someone who's struggled with body dysmorphia and an eating disorder, this experience taught me a lesson about self-love, acceptance, and empowerment. Emily is more than just a talented photographer, she's a friend, a girls' girl,and therapist all in one. I cannot recommend her services enough. We first did my maternity shoot with Rita and I knew we were going to have a great time from our first phone conversation! She is so patient and considerate. As this was a destination wedding for us, all of our communications were primarily via email. Bianca was always very responsive and helpful in her replies, which definitely gave us a lot of reassurance during a very hectic time in which so much planning, coordination, and decisions needed to be made. On the actual day of, Bianca and her team worked tirelessly through a grueling half day session taking endless photos for various group photos, attire changes, a tea ceremony, reception dinner, and of course, the actual wedding ceremony itself. Bianca was excellent in her verbal cues on where to position ourselves, where to look, and how to pose. And they coordinated seamlessly with the videography team as they shot videos alongside them. HUGE props to her and her team for their hard work, dedication, and patience with so many family and friends. Just "having fun at the beach for our vacation". She recommended around 5 pm for lighting. When arrived at site, lots of rocks, over cast and not the nice bright mid day sun but late afternoon light, but last opportunity on island due to her availability. Felt rushed. Spent less than one hour for photos. It truly felt like she had somewhere else to be. Lack of patience with special needs child, barely interacted with us, cold, and very uncomfortable. Many opportunities to get natural shots of the children looking for shells and that was not done either. Children afterward complained that it was "weird" when taking individual shots because she did not help them feel comfortable. Pictures included, feet getting cut off, arms in awkward positions for children, and contrived poses. When she heard we were upset, she offered us a discount on another product. When we received those pictures, they were grainy and were sent in a soft envelope which caused two of the corners to be very bent. Our personal pictures turned out better than these. Terrible experience and would NOT recommend.
