I have bought a ton of furniture at Arhaus and have to admit that the furniture seems to get damaged or ruined easily. I have had my dining room table replaced 2-3 times due to easy scratching/gauging...frankly just gave up on it. I love the design of this furniture, but the quality and customer service should match the price, which is very high end. I bought 2 slipcover rocker swivel chairs and the sales person sold how I could get them recovered at a fraction of the cost if I wanted to change the fabric. The fabric ripped and has huge holes in it and when pricing new slipcovers, the pricing is the same cost as the chairs...+$2500 for 2, which is insane. I have discussed with 2 salespeople and they simple shrug and say "oh well." Disappointing for how much money I have spent at this store. read more

AWFUL customer service and delivery. RUN as fast as you can away from this retailer. Any other retailer, less or more expensive, will be able to provide better service and delivery options. There is absolutely no follow through or communication, I have never received a delivery window the day before my scheduled deliveries (I have had to call to find out what I was given) and each piece ordered needed to be reschedule, on their mistake, at least twice. Do not waste your money on Arhaus Worry-Free Protection plan! It is a scam. I have spent quite a bit of money over the years at Arhaus and have always been talked into purchasing this "great" plan. The one time I try to use it, I find out that I was supposed to register the plan! I was never told this and there is no paperwork that I was given that tells me this. Plus, my husband sent an email explaining our need for the service. He received an email back telling him he had to call a certain number. He calls the number and an automated voice says they are not taking calls due to COVID! WTF! This is exactly the time they should be taking calls. Why can't they take calls during COVID? What a joke! I will never shop at Arhaus, again. I will certainly make sure none of my friends and family shop there and I have complained to my decorator who is the one who always takes me to the store to shop. Simply put: we love every piece that we have purchased from Arhaus. We furnished my home office, bar stools for our kitchen, and a couch for our living room, as well as several accessories. What I love about my office furniture is that it us all modular; it is also solid wood -- much higher quality than other furniture stores (and I looked at all the ones in the area). Karen is our interior designer, and she is amazing--she has excellent taste, listens to what we need, and then comes up with lovely designs to fit our needs, space, and budget. Extremely frustrated with my experience with Arhaus. I ordered many items, all of them delayed, which we understood due to COVID. My desk that was "ready" in July, came incomplete, missing the entire top of the desk, unacceptable. What was not understandable, was the damage to my home that occurred during delivery. My brand new $8,000 front door was damaged by a careless delivery man, who ran a chair directly into the frame of the door causing a big dent and split in the wood. In addition to that damage, the delivery men left soaking wet furniture in my house (it was raining on delivery day), despite my offer to cover the furniture with a blanket during transfer from the truck to the house. I'm so disappointed with this company. Their response was to fill out a home damage form...which feels like an empty promise to make things right. It's been over 2 weeks and the "resolutions specialist" Nicole Nairn refuses to answer any calls emails or voicemails. Completely unacceptable. I would never order from this company again. RUN don't walk. Their BBB rating says it all.... read more

When placing our kitchen table and chair order we were told at the time everything was in stock, this was in September. We double checked with our sales rep to ensure everything was in stock since we were also purchasing furniture from Walter E Smithe and would go with them but all their furniture that we liked was custom made and we had to wait for the pieces. We wanted everything before the holidays. Arhaus sales rep or the company itself never followed up on our order to give us updates, status or just thank you (we paid in full at the time of the order as well). Walter E Smithe contact us every other week with phone calls and emails to let us know the status of our furniture and estimated delivery date. Arhuas finally told us our table was ready but the chairs were not and wont be until the begining of January, my wife was furious. We had to constantly call customer service to get any help which was a huge struggle. After finally forcing them to give us loaner chairs until ours were ready they delivered everything. Now after the holidays they call us to tell us that our chairs are ready, that we owe a balance (which we dont we paid in full in September) and the soonest they can deliver our chairs is Jan 17th. That is crazy when we should of had everything back in September. I will never buy from this place no matter how nice their furniture is, there customer service is the worse I have ever dealt with, Walter E Smithe customer service is the best and should be used as a model for Arhause, abosulety a joke of a company ecspecially when you pay in full and they dont give a damn. read more

Very dissapointed at quality. I purchased a Dune sectional about one year ago and I am very disappointed at the quality of the fabric and the couch. I spend a considerable amount of time selecting fabrics from a very limited selection and colors that I needed to match other chair and soon after it was delivered, which took over 3 months, right way we realized that the fabric is not what we expected, it is rough to the touch and rough to sit on (my carpet is softer then this fabric) but the worst is it snags very easily, one snag can unravel a whole line of fabric. The couch feels like it is stuffed with plastic bags. I keep it covered to protect it from getting more damaged. After I had made the purchase I saw the same fabrics been offered at Carson's Furniture Store for their couches at a lot less money that what we spent. I would not recommend their furniture as their quality is not what they are selling, even though the staff was very helpful. read more

It has taken me quite awhile to find a dining room set that I would like to replace our one bought back in the early 80's. I thought I found it at Arhaus. We ordered a table, six side chairs and two upholstered chairs and a buffet. We have had to have all the pieces replaced due to poor workmanship or damage. The table was not stained properly and if you ran a fingernail gently over the edge the stain came right off. The side chairs were not sanded and finished as a quality chair should be. The buffet never made it into my home due to it being damaged in transit. Customer service was very unsatisfactory. I was told by several people they would call me and set up delivery dates and they NEVER called. I always had to be the one to call and consistently check on them to ensure delivery. The sales person was no help was the sale was made and put absolutely no effort into making sure I was satisfied with the furniture. At this point, I am very close to canceling my entire order and have them refund my entire amount. Take my advice and stay away from Arhaus Furniture. read more

I ordered a kitchen table and the sales women told me that they were in stock, I needed them to hold it for me with a half down deposit, because my home was being remodeled. After 2 months they told me that they were moving warehouses and I had to wait about a month for the delivery. I paid in full. Still now after another two months gone by I still don't have my table and I call weekly. Every time I call, I get a different story. I called again today and they told me that it was going to be shipped tomorrow. So for the last month they have been lying about my table that it was shipped and it really never was. Let's see now if I get it this week. If I would have known that the table was 5 months till I would get it, I would have went somewhere else. Just goes to show no matter how much you spend on something, you don't get any better of service. Just a bunch of lies. read more

I posted the previous review on 6/2/12 and felt it important to re-post additional detail now that my items have been delivered. I provided Arhaus 2 stars during my last review. They now receive Zero stars. My furniture showed up and while the custom bed frame was beautiful, the custom couch and dining room set were a nightmare. The couch came with incredibly overstuffed cushions; each one was a different height based on different levels of stuffing. Additionally, I cannot sit on the couch without being pushed awkwardly and uncomfortably forward due to too much stuffing in the pillows. When I contacted Customer Service (having purchased the $399 worry free guarantee), they told me this is how their furniture is engineered and I should 'remove the cushions, place them on the floor and kneel on them' to squish them flatter. This is evidently how their store employees make the display couches comfortable. I said this was unacceptable. I purchased a couch and expected to sit comfortably without waiting months for the pillows to settle. Their solution was to offer to swap my cushions with old cushions from the store display. When I said that wasn't an acceptable solution, they said I could return the couch but they would charge me a delivery fee and 33% of my purchase because it was a custom piece. The dining table was also a concern. I was sold 6 chairs and upon delivery, it was clear the designer did not bother to measure the chairs to ensure they would fit at the table! Sure enough, people are unable to sit on the chairs at the table. Since the chairs are custom, I cannot send them back without being charged 33% of the purchase. I've decided to keep the chairs and hope to find a table at another store. To add insult to injury, upon reviewing the final paperwork for my order, I noticed they billed me more than what was owed . When I brought the issue to their attention (even put together a spreadsheet of all the items and the payments I made on my credit card), they said they'd need to do an accounting audit. This afternoon the manager sent over the 'audit' which was simply a list of everything I've been charged for and what I've paid. The amounts do not match the original order I placed (and agreed to). It proves they double charged me for 1 item and also added a delivery fee that was supposed to be taken care of by the store. I spent almost 2 hours tonight going over everything and am now awaiting over $500 in erroneous charges. This is criminal behavior. Long story short, DO NOT SHOP AT ARHAUS. I'll begin with our order of a sectional sofa, coffee table and kitchen table in early January. We were moving into a new home the middle of February. We were told by the sales person that the furniture would arrive the end of March. Normal 10-12 week delivery. We received the kitchen table and loved it. We love the furniture there so we went in and also ordered four bar stools and two bedside tables (from another salesperson). Got those. At the end of March when we called about the sectional and coffee table we were told by the salesperson that we were never told the furniture would be in by the end of March and that there would be another couple of weeks. Really? One of us not getting it right I'd understand, but both of us? A couple of weeks go by and we hear...nothing. Finally the salesperson calls and says that furniture can take longer than expected and she diverts the conversation to "aren't we happy with our kitchen table"? What?!! We're angry now and we finally ask for the sales manager. She informs us that the fabric for the sofa is not available and is waiting TO BE MADE at the mill. Salesperson never said a word. Unacceptable. Manager assures us that she will follow up and keep us informed. We receive a $250 gift card in an envelope. Nothing else. No note. Just a card in an envelope. Unprofessional. Finally 16 weeks later the sofa and table arrive. The sofa color looks off to me, but I pass it off as too much time. It has a chip on the leg. The table is brought in and it is so small in comparison to the sofa it is laughable. We had given measurements and were assured by the salesperson who chose this for us it would be fabulous. I look the color of the sofa up online and it is clearly off. Going into the store to verify this with other salespeople (not ours) is met with total confirmation and apologies. We call to talk to the manager and the salesperson picks up the phone instead after we were on hold. Sigh. Pass the buck. We come in and are waiting for the salesperson who is late because she is selling to someone else. I am approached by someone who turns out to be the manager. She said if I continue to wait she will help me. I wait. She helps by saying they will fix everything by exchanging the table to the larger one "Nominal difference that we're not going to worry about" and we pick out a new sofa. The table we were told is in stock and the switch could be made quickly. Three weeks go by and no calls on either the delivery of the table or the sofa. Really mad. Call. "The salesperson will be here tomorrow. I'll have her call you". Days go by. No call. We go into the store. Salesperson is there saying she just returned that day from a vacation. Okey dokey. She apparently never followed up on the table or the sofa. She also tells us that there is a balance due on the table of $300. What? We said that that was not what was said. Delivery calls and there are asking for $323.00. DO NOT SHOP HERE. Love the product. I'll go to Chicago or Barrington. No way to Oakbrook. This story could be longer if I included the multiple unreturned or days later phone tag messages. Yeesh. read more

I would not recommend this particular store location. Employee personnel are not overly helpful and they are not friendly. I've purchased thousands of dollars worth of merchandise (in the last few months) and the sales clerks are not polite, and they certainly are not willing to go the extra mile to help you (if you experience a problem --- which you will). I've had continual orders "screwed-up" and then the sales personnel try to blame you for their mistakes (even when you produce the receipts with order numbers showing the correct items you should have received). I've had to take extra days off work to wait for multiple deliveries (only to have them deliver the wrong items again). In my opinion, Karen and Sue are the most unhelpful (and curt) employees in the store. If you are going to spend a lot of money...go to a place where you get treated with some respect. I will tell everyone I know NOT to shop at this Oak Brook location. It's too bad...great furniture -- poor service! I've never had any issues at the locations in Lincoln Park or Northbrook. It's just this Oak Brook location. I'm telling you...try to avoid the terrible mistake I made. My guess, poor management is the cause of lack of service. read more

We have been sofa shopping for the last few weeks and found a sofa that we liked at Arhaus this past Wednesday. It just so happened that the sofa we liked had a tag on in that said it was in stock for the holiday season. This made a sofa that we like far more attractive because we had a party set up for this Saturday. They said they could deliver it this Saturday. I said... SOLD! While I was waiting for our sales rep to draw up the paperwork for my order I decided to google Arhaus. I found that they had a hand full of poor reviews, one of which was about a guy who's delivery date got pushed back 100 days. I chose to ignore the reviews and to put my faith in them. My wife and I got really excited about getting our new sofa in time for our party today (Saturday). I called the store to find out when I was going to see our new sofa. Our sales rep told me that we wouldn't see it until next Saturday, she was new, she made a mistake. Considering the rep seemed to be really lost throughout the entire process, had to correct things that she told us several times (which I see as a training problem), misled us about our delivery date and read other bad reviews online, we chose to cancel our order. We will buy from someone who has there act together. read more

Let's start with the positive. I ordered some eclectic bedroom furniture and am very pleased with it. They needed some extra help to get one piece up my stairs and came back the next am. The delivery guys are great. The furniture is unique. I then ordered a custom chair and ottoman, and it came as expected, with one exception. The ottoman has caster wheels and rolls around my wood floor when you try to use it. We were never made aware of the casters by our salesperson, Donna. So I called her to rectify the problem, with the hopes I could get some replacement solid legs for it. She admitted that she hadn't known it was on wheels either. She quickly passed me off to customer service. The experience with this store quickly deteriorated, as they were just plain inept. It started with the promise to look into the issue and get right back to me. Long story short...even after going to the head of customer service, I was never given a solution to the problem. They did attempt to mail me some cheap plastic rings that were easy to see would not be useful and the fact that they even thought this would work shows how little they know. I had to keep,calling them and I would get excuses like..." I emailed so and so and am waiting to hear..." And then they would not call me back. And finally when I called again I was told there was nothing they could do. Really? Is this an insurmountable problem or do they just not want to deal with you once they have your money? They have no business selling expensive furniture if they have such poor service! They will surely not last. read more

We received a sectional and ottoman from Arhaus over 2.5 weeks ago. The furniture smells so strongly of toxins I couldn't sit on it for a week. I developed a sore throat for a week after the furniture arrived. The smell is starting to go away, but it is still present. When I contacted Arhaus customer service, they referred me to a website for a program for foam certification that claims low VOC's. There was no real concern for my family's health. I cannot recommend Arhaus for this reason. read more

If there was a way to give this store zero stars, I would. I am 48 years old and I can comfortably say that they provided the worst customer service I have ever experienced. They lied about the delivery date of our furniture not once or twice, but 3 times. When it finally did show it, the order was incomplete and we were told that two of our chairs (that we had previously been told 2 different times would be delivered) were not even done yet!!!! Avoid this store at all costs - especially since their costs are so high to begin with. This is not a review of this store but their product. Purchased a Dune Slipcovered sofa less than 2 years ago. This sofa is a pain in the neck as it always looks a mess. It needs to be fluffed, and managed multiple times per day. The cushion liners are made with low grade fabric as the down quills regularly poke through. The throw pillows and back cushions have lost much of their stuffing due to this problem. Be prepared for a lot of feathers to hit your floor when pulling covers off for a wash. Called customer service to complain about the down loss and was told to fluff often. Never had a sofa that I had to fluff after every use! The seat cushions also slip away from the frame making the sofa just look a mess most of the time. It only looks nice if you fluff, push around the slipcover and NEVER sit on it. Wish I wouldn't have bought it and will never buy Arhaus again. I'll stick with CB or Room and Board for quality. read more

I have not bought any furniture pieces at Arhaus, so I can't effectively judge their workmanship or longevity or quality of their pieces. For room accents and accessories, however, I'm very pleased. I've shopped Arhaus several times this winter when I needed a bridal shower and/or housewarming gift; especially for the many recipients who are put off by the whole idea of creating a registry of wants or ask that guests surprise them with something unique. This is where Arhaus comes in and does a great job at producing the one of a kind type item that pops in a room and is often on sale, or priced right. Recently, I bought a wrought iron mirror that's a conversation piece in my friends 3 season room. I gave another friend an eclectic picture frame that adds pizzazz to a boring coffee table. Another friend wanted throw pillows - lots of them, and Arhaus had several that were sharp, unique and priced right. Two were the ridiculously low price of $10 each. What was appreciated about every gift I've purchased from Arhaus is that everything appeared to be a 1 of a kind original, without the 1 of a kind price. It's fun to shop in Chicagoland for something that looks like it was purchased in a bazaar in Istanbul, and just might have been made there, too. All the intrigue and wonder yet none of the logistical challenges are connected to the more artsy and odd gifts. And if you're having a problem finding that perfect 4 foot vase for your entryway yet can't seem to find what's in your mind, anywhere, the staff at Arhaus are so eager to assist. read more

I've spent about 15k at this store over the last 2 years, and my dining chairs have literally fallen apart. 5 of them. The leather has peeled and flaked off completely. And customer service? After submitting photos and multiple messages, we finally got a reply. They said this is to be expected with this material in time. In time? In 2 years? Would have been good to know before buying! We've been satisfied with the 7k sectional purchased to date, but delivery, customer service, and life of all other furniture pieces have been a failure. We purchased the Kensington dining table with extension leaves. Our 1st table had a big distracting knot and Arhaus arranged for an exchange without hesitation. The second table was too orange, and, again, they exchanged the table without question. We had to wait a couple of months since the table was out of stock. But we finally got the one we wanted and couldn't be happier. The table is solid reclaimed pine and is perfect for a large family that doesn't want to worry about dings and chips. Was our sales person a bit pushy? Maybe. But we got a great deal during a sale and would definitely shop there again read more

I purchased furniture in early January to be delivered to my new home in Austin, Tx. I requested a delivery date of April 12. I was told that would be no problem as the table I ordered (along with 2 sofas and 6 chairs) would be in by mid March at the latest. I was happy with this situation. I made plans to fly to Austin to be there for the delivery date of April 12. I was assured this was a definite date. On April 10 I called Arhaus to inquire as to the scheduling for my April 12 delivery date. After several calls I was Informed that not only was this date not possible, but that the furniture was still in Cleveland planning to be put on a truck for delivery to the Austin warehouse. I was then informed that I should call the warehouse on Monday, April 16 to set up a positive delivery date for that week. I changed my flights back to Chicago to Friday, April 20 in order to be around for take delivery of the furniture. Today I called the warehouse and was given the number for Heather, the delivery dispatcher in Austin. I called several times today and left messages. She never returned my calls. I also called the store in Lombard and spoke to my salesperson there and she said she had no idea where the furniture was. My husband called the Lombard store several times today. He finally spoke to the store Manager, Tom, who informed him that they had no idea where the furniture was. My husband was very upset and, I will admit, raised his voice. The manager hung up on him and refused to take any other calls from him. We are currently attempting to cancel our order. I will never purchase furniture from this store again. read more

Almost each piece has a truly unique story that I have fun relaying to friends and family. We ordered a kind sized bed, sofa, leather chair, two side tables, two ottomans and two upholstered chairs for the living room about five years ago. The only piece I am satisfied with is our upholstered tufted king sized bed. This is still beautiful and in excellent shape. Everything else is fairly trashed. The couch got new insides after two years and looks worn out again already. The upholstered chairs are okay, but the feathers come out and staples are now poking out. In fact, I cut the palm of my hand on one just a little bit ago and that is what prompted me to write this review. The leather chair and ottoman look disgusting. If they didn't cost so much, I would have thrown them to the curb years ago. It also looks like the leather may have lightened from the sun, but it actually came this way. I regret I did not complain about this right away, but didn't realize I could at the time. Anyway, we are not the type of people that can afford new furniture all the time. So, I am rather stuck. For the thousands of dollars we spent at Arhaus, I wish I could have been happier. Unless, purchasing a bed, I would not order anything else from Arhaus. read more

Bought 2 chairs for $2300. When they arrived, there was a nail sticking out, fabric bubbles and puckering along most of the seams. These chairs should NEVER have left the distribution center. We have been trying to return these chairs and get a refund for almost 2 weeks to no avail. The customer service has been non-existent. We have had to contact them at every turn. I just want to unload these chairs and get my money back!!!!! We waited 10 weeks for these chairs-looks like it's going to take just as long to return them. We ordered 4 dining room chairs in December 2012 from Arhaus. The chairs arrived two weeks later. To our dismay, two of the chairs had broken legs and teetered when placed on our wood floor. Since we paid $140 per chair, we felt this was no acceptable. We took 2 of the chairs back, and the manager assured us we would not have this problem again. We received two more chairs two weeks later and those chairs were damaged as well. Again, the manager assured us that this would not happen again. We explained that this was not acceptable, and she said that customer service would be issuing us a credit of sorts. The chairs were supposed to be delivered February 20th, and we still have not heard from Arhaus. I have left several messages for the manager to return my class and have yet to hear from her. It has now been 2.5 months since we first placed the order. We were given a $30 credit, which we felt was insulting when we spent $600 on these chairs. We still have not heard from the manager and are completed disgusted with the service. In a typical year, I would like to think we are exceptional Arhaus customers, but from this point forward the Arhaus in Oak Brook will no longer earn our business. read more
