Such a hidden gem in Newberry! The food here was fresh, delicious, and really great sized portions for the price! Every time I have gone in, the owner has chatted with me while I wait for my food to be made and it is so clear how passionate she and her family are in their restaurant. A great family-owned spot that I couldn't recommend more!!

No one would ever expect to find an authentic Venezuelan restaurant tucked away in the small town of Newberry, Florida. I stopped on a Saturday afternoon after hearing great reviews. I was the only one there and the owner started talking to me. She was extremely friendly and told me how her and her husband own the restaurant and cook everything authentically. She explained everything on the menu, including their best sellers. I ultimately went with a selection of the empanadas: carne molida (ground beef), pabellon (cheese, shredded beef, beans, plantains), pollo (chicken), and carne mechada (pulled meat). Despite the fact I was the only person there in the restaurant, my order took about 30 minutes to come out. I get that they're making their orders fresh but 30 minutes for four empanadas seemed excessive. Flavor wise, they were very tasty and packed with filling. I would order them again as well as check out other items off their extensive menu.

Arepas Milko is a wonderful place to go if you are in need of delicious latin food. Every time I go, I am not disappointed with the quality, portion, and taste of the food- in fact I am blown away. Today I got the steak arepa- all the way- and to say the least it was delicious. Since my last time coming, it seems the menu has expanded to include sandwiches- to which I am so excited to try. The service was great, our order was taken and we were given nice recommendations. However; the food is not quick- as the arepas are not pre made- so if you're looking for a quick in and out stop- I advise calling ahead. Although if you are looking to dine in- grab a table, order a few of the delicious appetizers, enjoy the music great customer service would be my recommendation.

There are only a handful of Latin/Hispanic resteraunts in Gainesville, lucky for Gainesville one of those happens to be the over so lovely Food Truck Arepas Milkos! Authentic Venezuelan food is their specialty. They are just outside of Jonesville but the drive is more than worth it. The ambience is perfect with benches for seating near the garden nursery. The food is portioned great but I suggest bringing freinds so you can order and share because it can be hard to choose. I highly recommend this for anyone craving an Arepa and some REAL Venezuelan food. Some of my favorites include - Tequeño - Shredded Beef Arepa - Cachapa I recommend checking their Instagram for hours since they are a good truck but most weekend and and Fridays you can expect the Latin food and music to be going down on through the night!

Arepas Milko has me so enamored by the smells, the taste, the hospitality, and the ambiance. Words can not justify how amazing this food truck is. I'll patiently twiddle my thumbs until a store opens up. And if you think the drive is not worth it, then you are wrong! Arepas Milko has brightened the community on weekends with Hispanic music and delicious savory Venezuelan food! A food truck that serves arepas, empanada, patacón and more has done their entire menu justice because every flavor is just right and you know that it is very fresh considering they are making it in front of you. You can't go wrong with anything. I'm particularly fond of the beef empanada as an appetizer, the fried arepa with carne desmechada, cheese, house sauce and cabbage as the main meal and quesillo, a more airy flan as dessert. Everyone is so friendly that they treat you a part of their family and even remember returning customers. If you're going in the summer, I recommend wearing mosquito spray. If you're going in the winter, bundle up! This food truck is a cannot miss! You can tell everyone working has poured their heart and soul and it really shows! If you haven't gone, stop what you're doing and make sure you go that weekend!

I've never been much of an arepa fanatic but Arepas Milko has made me into one!! This place was a trek but worth every minute. I ordered a fried Pernil (pork) arepa and it was amazing! The arepa was the perfect balance of crispiness + a bite, and the pork was tender. The toppings also balanced out the flavors so well! I also ordered a pastelito with potatoes & cheese inside which was DELICIOUS!! If I could've tried everything on that menu, I would have in a heart beat! The prices are also great & really affordable. Also, the ambiance of the place is absolutely adorable!! There is a real local, authentic feel to the location which makes the food just that much better.

Please go support this delicious business!! They are a Venezuelan couple cooking up arepas, patacons, pastelitos, cachapas and other goodies. The food is very good! You can choose from several meat options for your arepas and patacon. I tried the pernil- baked pork, yummy! You can get the arepa grilled or fried but fried is better. The patacon is like an arepa but has plantains (maduro or tostones) for the "bun" part. The maduro is the sweet plantain and tostones is savory plantains. Arepas Milko pastelitos are savory filled with meat, so don't confuse them with Cuban sweet guava pastelitos! They're located by the Jonesville Persimmon and Fruit Tree nursery. From the Oaks Mall, just keep going past the Tioga Town Center for 5 miles and the food truck is on the right. Open on Fridays and Saturdays from 5pm-11pm! The line is long but goes quickly. They take credit cards. They do sell soda and bottled water. You can eat onsite but be warned of bugs because it is outside and you're next to a plant nursery. I saw many people do take out as well. The vibe was relaxed and the Spanish music playing made you feel like you were at a cookout! :D I'm not familiar with Venezuelan food but from the many hispanic families and patrons that were enjoying the food there, Arepas Milko is killlin it!!

Arepas Milko is a food truck specializing in Venezuelan food located about 10-15 minutes from downtown Gainesville. FOOD (4/5): Almost everything on the menu here is incredible. My personal favorites on the menu are listed below: - Patacon Maduro with beef and all the recommended toppings - Patacon Verde with beef and all the recommended toppings - The Arepas are great too! Definitely ask the owners recommendation, she is very helpful. SERVICE (5/5): Very friendly and helpful in choosing menu items. Everyone here is very passionate about their food which is evident in their cooking. AMBIANCE (5/5): Do not expect anything fancy. This is a food truck located near a sitting area and a couple other vendors. Definitely get a gelato from a nearby vendor after your food from Arepas Milkos. Overall, this is one of my favorite places in Gainesville and highly recommend checking it out.

5 stars to this place . Even if I had to wait - I came there for the food and the food was great. I ordered sandwich with corn arepa bread and pulled meat and cabbage .it was perfectly balanced being not too salty not too sweet. Juicy but not soupy. The size of the sandwich matches advertizement . Next time will try one with plantain.

Arepas Milko is the definition of homemade family cuisine. They're menu is all Venezuelan from top to bottom and it is as authentic as it is delicious . The run down is simple ; the son takes your order, the dad makes the food , and mom runs it to your table. It's. All warm smiles from beginning to end and I cannot begin to express how delicious every item is on this menu. Everything is made fresh so depending on how busy they are the wait can get a bit long but you will forget all about that when you take your first bite. All in all I would recommend this humble little food truck to friends, family and strangers all around. If you're ever in the Gainesville area you have to come get some arepas from Milko and his family.

I was pleasantly surprised that a place in Gainesville (newberry) had such tasty arepas! Very authentic taste. I had to take more to go!

Every…read moresingle thing that hit our table was a flavor explosion, but I have to give a standing ovation to the pollo a la plancha juicy, perfectly seasoned, and cooked to absolute perfection. It's the kind of dish you take one bite of and immediately plot your next visit. And the side dishes...oh my goodness. Usually you have a "favorite" side and a "meh" side, but here, every single one was a star in its own right. Creamy, vibrant, tangy, savory, each had its own personality and every bite made me do a little happy dance. Honestly, it's rare to find a place where the sides are just as memorable as the main course, but Tinker nails it. The atmosphere was warm, the service was wonderful, and by the end of the meal everyone basically grinning like a kid at their birthday party. The Tres Leche cake was insanely good! If you haven't been yet, go. And if you have you already know you're overdue for another plate! It was really that good!

I've driven by many times and through the smoked glass it looked like chairs or something else was stored behind it and I though it had closed. The service was very good, prompt but not over attentive! The selection of Beers was outstanding! I had a starter of what was billed as Chupe De Pollo, (chicken chowder), it had very thick broth and was chocked full of chicken. Chicken breast was used and although there was a lot it was very dry and the broth was more like a heavy veloute. It also did not have much flavor. I won't be ordering that a again. My wife and I had Empanadas, mine was shredded beef and hers shredded chicken. I could have used a bit more sauce for dipping. The shell was quite crisp but not greasy. But all and all it was good. Our friend had the vegetarian arepas and let me taste some, it was quite good. She finished the whole dish! We also shared the loaded fries which came out hot with an interesting sauce drizzled over it. We didn't have the bacon on it as our friend is vegetarian. That would have made it even better for me. All in all it was a fun experience and we'll be going back.

I just think they don't try hard enough, the people working there perhaps are not properly trained, paid or it just comes all the way from the top. I went there to give them a second chance since I had previously tried them about a year ago and I thought the food was not good back then, but maybe since they have been open long enough, maybe it was that one thing I had. Well I was wrong, I ordered just some appetizers, not even a full meal or anything and they took almost an hour to bring it out!! I didn't want to complaint so I just took my food to go and left, but when I got home the mandocas I ordered were terrible, tasted like they just reheated them and didn't even have cheese or nata which is what they should come with, or how they are served in any Venezuelan place you go to. On top of that, I had asked for cilantro sauce for the tequeños, they said it was in the bag, and when I got home they just put garlic sauce in there!! I didn't even eat, what a waste of money and energy to go there. Terrible experience, I don't recommend the headache to anyone, it's just not worthy. Unfortunately.
