My arepa was $11 so I was expecting it to be delicious ...especially since it's an arepa place! It was given to me room temp after waiting 15 min for it and the cheese wasn't even melted! It was just shredded white cheese between two corn dough breads. It tasted terrible! I even took it home to pop it in the microwave, and it wouldn't even melt ! Great Venezuelan food in a strip mall in Weston! GB had the chicken arepa, it had a large amount of chicken, cheese and avocado. It had a creamy slightly spicy sauce. The cornmeal bread for the sandwich was delicious. We asked for hot sauce which was very nice. I ordered the shredded flank steak with white rice, black beans and plantains. It was very good. Way better experience than the last time. After a few years finally came back (not by choice) and the service and food was excellent. They still need more staff to help run the orders since the cashier was also the food runner but the food was delicious. Any of the foods containing cheese like the arepa and cachapa are really overpriced for what they are but the food is good. Thinking about reporting this place to the BBB (Better Business Bureau) I went today to eat breakfast, the girl at the register was incredible rude... Items were missing when she brought the plates and the reason why I will be reporting to BBB, the prices on the menu were different from the prices I was actually charged. This place used to be Universal Market, and the basic principle really hasn't changed. It is owned now by what I think is the hardest working woman in all of Weston, who used to be in an Arepas shop right next door. Arepas Magnet Plus is a Latin-American market filled with goodies from lots of countries like Venezuela, Colombia and Argentina. This place has it all, an Argentinian butcher with nice premium cuts and a little bit of a deli with fresh cheeses and nice pates, a Venezuelan bakery that serves lunch specials and caters and its new addition right in the corner of all-natural fruit sorbets (Cepillados) which really elevate the place up a few notches. You must come try these things for sure...especially when it's really hot out. I give it 4 stars out of 5 cause the place is a little pricey, but otherwise worth to indulge and to take home a little taste of "back in the day in ____" (Fill in the blank with your respective South American country). read more

This place used to be ok to good from time to time but my last visit they serve me 4 arepas stone cold that shows how little they care about quality control. I understand that they might get cold after a while but the way super cold and hard to chew. We decided to call back to let them know the issue but the owner just did not care and just ask us to go back so she can reheat them. This place is disgusting and overly priced! Wow! If I could give it NO STARS, I totally would! I went with my mom because I was looking for "Pirulin" (a rather popular Venezuelan item).. I did find it but it was CRAZY expensive.. about $15 for a small can (which is about $5 in Venezuela).. on top of it, the item was expired as well as other Venezuelan candy they had on display... Since we were already there, we decided to have lunch and ordered a Venezuelan dish, which is very easy.. some of the items to the dish were not available so we had to settle for some other alternatives.. I wanted to drink a Diet Coke and they didn't have that either... I got some beans, but they looked more like a soup.. I had to tell the guy to give me some real beans rather than just the broth... The food was "blah" and the service was pathetic... On top of that, the place was dirty and the crowd was less than pleasant! I really hope they close this place down... I placed an order for delivery of 2 Bandeja Paisas. Unfortunately, when I received the food both steaks were completely burnt and beyond hard. The rice, beans and plantines were not fresh. I called the restaurant to let them know. The first person that I spoke with was extremely rude. She was yelling and screaming at me. I was barely able to explain the situation to her. She therefore hung up the phone on me. I called back two times and no one in the restaurant picked up the phone. I was finally able to get a hold of someone. I tried explaining to the young lady that I had called before and the person who I spoke with was very rude. I asked to please speak to a manager or supervisor. She told me that she can help me. I explained to her the situation and she basically told me well I don't know what you want me to tell you. You can stop by and get a refund. I said great thank you. Let me give you my information, I can be there shortly. She told me they were closing soon but really the restaurant is open for another 3 hours. I tried providing her my information and let her know that I can stop by tomorrow then and she hung up the phone on me. 20 minutes later I received a phone call from the owner/manager of the restaurant. I thought she was calling to apologize on behalf of her employees. Come to find out that it was the first person who I had originally spoken with over the phone that was screaming and hung up on me. She informs me that she felt insulted that I would have criticized her food. Once again I nicely tried explaining the situation to her. She started yelling and cursing at me. Telling me to never order from her restaurant again. I don't understand how any type of restaurant can have terrible customer service. Treat their customers with such disrespect and feel the need to call them only to continue to yell at them. In conclusion they never refunded me or offered to replace my order. Where do I start? This place is amazing. They have everything from Venezuela: Malta, torontos, Susy, panque Once Once, Avena, Toddy. But the kitchen is the real highlight. The menu is very complete: arepas with all traditional fillings, empanadas, cachapas with all the cheeses, nata... it was delicious. We just came for breakfast and will come back for sure, and will try lunch or dinner, since they are offering traditional Christmas food like hallacas, pernil and pan de jamón. Other people were eating the hallacas and pan de jamon, they were talking about how good they were. Also service was very warm, friendly and welcoming. I was disappointed. I ordered the arepa and asked for cheese on it. It took quite some time to get and when I went to eat it realized all they did was cut the arepa and piled in some cold cheese. When I got home I cooked it myself so the entire arepa was hot and cheese melted. I thought the food was pricey too.
