I love Aldi and Trader Joe's and it makes sense because they have two German brothers in common. The abbreviated history is that Aldi's and Trader Joe's were owned by the two brother's who fell out over whether or not to sell cigarettes. In 1962, they introduced the name Aldi, short for Albrecht-Diskont, which translates into English as Albrecht Discount. The company split into Aldi Süd and Aldi Nord, which operate thousands of stores in Europe, the United Kingdom and Australia. Aldi Süd controls the U.S. chain of Aldi stores while Aldi Nord operates in the U.S. as Trader Joe's. ALDI opened its first U.S. store in Iowa in 1976 and now has more than 2,200 stores and is headquartered in Batavia, Illinois. While Trader Joe's has great prices, Aldi will beat them and just about everyone else's prices every time. You can still signs of that German heritage all over Aldi's like in their German line of products called Deutsche Kuche, which offers offers beer, chocolate, roasted coffee, and uncured Bavarian bratwurst. If you want to save money on groceries, Aldi's is a great way to do it. In order to bring you those low prices Aldi's has instituted some cost cutting measures. If you want a cart you will need to bring a quarter and to get your money back you need to return your cart from the parking lot back to the store saving employees from having to collect the carts. You will also have to bring your own bags or pay for theirs. Sometimes I'll just grab one of their empty boxes. Lines used to be long in store because they keep their staff to a bare bones minimum but since they added self checkout I rarely wait in line anymore. I was at Sawgrass Mills Mall and needed a few items so I popped into this location near the mall on Sunrise Blvd. There are now 208 Aldi locations throughout Florida so there is always one near by when I need it. The store was clean and well organized. I was able to easily grab what I needed and I had fun checking out the new Aisle of Shame inventory where they have a lot of cleaning products and exercise equipment in anticipation of the new year. My new favorite Aldi product is the Coconut Hydration Electrolytes Blue Mix Sticks in the blue raspberry flavor. They are only 15 calories and make your water taste delicious. Thanks to them I'm carrying my Owala with me wherever I go. I also love that this Aldi had the self checkout that allowed me to get out quickly and on my way to my next adventure. read more

FOOD SHOPPING RED ALERT... Lots of people I know swear by the Aldi cheap food prices so this is my first Aldi adventure to see if this is truth or fable. At first glance as I enter the vestible, are a long stacknof LOCKED, shopping carts that have .25 cents imprinted on the top of the cart to rent. Then if you return the cart you are reimbursed the quarter. Also, there are no shopping bags provided. The store is much smaller than Publix but it seems to be easily navigated with wide aisles and the food sections are largely displayed on the walls. The prices for similar Publix or Winn Dixie items seem slightly lower on most items. Looking for a simple seeded rye bread was a failure, although, they did offer a large variety of private and recognizable national brands. The beer section was fully stacked and noticed that the prices were extremely competitive. The best deals were the bags of mini avocados for $3.69 instead of the competition price of $5.19 or one gallon of whole milk by Friendly Farms for $3.02. I grabbed a bag of avocados and walked to the self checkout and noticed they dont accept cash, so paid the low price on my credit card and left. After the completion of this shopping project, I would have to agree that there are deep discounted deals here and many reviewers were correct. read more

Conveniently located in the Sawgrass neighborhood, Aldi has become a goto spot for weekly groceries or quick last minute grab and go items. Most days, the shelves are well stocked, and products sell fast. I love that their prices are so affordable, especially on fruits and vegetables. I've noticed they've been bringing in more name brand items, before time many of their products were solely Aldi's own brand. The store is always kept clean, and I often see staff members tidying up, cleaning the floors, and restocking shelves during. Considering the prices, it's hard not to stop by and pick up essentials for the home. Right now, they have holiday items out, including snacks, cozy clothing like socks and pajamas, as well as candles, gifts, and home decor. read more

This is not the place to come if you're looking for popular, nationally advertised brands, a full deli counter, made to order subs, or a pharmacy. Aldi is a great place to shop if you are looking to save money, get fresh produce, or you just don't care about name brands. Aldi has all the traditional food departments; produce, meat, dairy, snacks, and seasonal items. You never know what you'll find. I have been here 3 or 4 times and I always see some different products that weren't there the last time I visited. The produce is always quite fresh & the prices on produce are great. I always stock up on mangoes, bananas, and strawberries. Aldi is not a super-big store, so the aisles get sort of crowded. It's best to shop during non-peak times. There are always stock workers with huge carts busily replenishing items; but it's kind of hard to maneuver so you may want to leave the kiddos at home. They also don't have cutsie displays....just lots of cans & boxes piled high! They are a no-frills checkout. The cashier puts your items in your cart & there is a nearby shelf to bag of box them yourself. (So don't forget the reusable shopping bags.). You also need yo remember yo bring a quarter to unlock a shopping cart; this cuts down on stolen carts & carts bring left all over the parking lot. TLDR: First time at Aldi's and I loved it! Was cheaper than Walmart, smaller store but had plenty of products to choose from. Bring a quarter for the shopping cart, take it back when you are done, get quarter back. Don't forget to bring your own bags. Was happy with the experience, my purchase, and savings. Will be back. This was my first experience shopping at an Aldi's store and I must confess I was a bit hesitant to go because I wasn't sure about the shopping cart. LOL! Even though I had read other reviews and knew I had to bring a quarter, I had to look it up on YouTube to be sure how this worked. I didn't wanna be that new customer, stuck trying to figure it out right then and there looking like an idiot. It was easy-peasy!! I like this idea but could be an inconvenience when it's pouring rain and you may have small children with you. Even myself with no kids, if it's pouring rain and I'd have to go back to return cart, I might think about it twice. My suggestion, plan your visit on non-rainy days. First thing I saw was the nut section, way cheaper than at Publix or even Walmart. As I kept walking in the aisle, I couldn't help but take pictures of all the cheap prices. Of course, they aren't the usual brands that everyone is familiar with but I've read that they are good quality. I started Keto again, so I didn't buy any of the sugary stuff but they had a good selection of cookies and chocolate. Next was the produce section. I had read that one of the downsides of shopping here is that once it's gone, it's gone. So, depending on when you go you might not find what you are looking for. Glad to see that the day I went, it was completely stocked. The prices were great. The sizes of some of the veggies was impressive, bigger than the ones at other stores. Cucumbers for example and cauliflower. Of all the fruits and veggies, the only one I thought was a bit pricey was the bag of apples which was 4.29 and the bag had 5 apples. Probably cheaper than at Publix, but not by much. Haven't bought apples in a while so can't confirm but didn't seem as cheap as I would've hoped. I saw that their peanut butter and jelly was very cheap, less than two dollars. But for these items, I save at Publix when they have their B1G1 sales for the big jars. As I continued through their aisles, all prices were cheaper than at other stores for their canned items, deli meats, olive oils, cheeses, chicken, beef, and frozen items. There was an aisle I did not go into, which was home stuff or toiletries I believe, as there were restocking it and a couple of other customers where in it and the aisle seemed too narrow, so I avoided it. I was most excited for the German Bavarian sausages which wasn't even on my list to buy. We already ate them and they were a hit. Too bad I only bought one package. Next time I'm there, I'll buy more and some of the other variety. I also bought bacon which again, was cheaper than at other stores unless of course it's on sale at Publix as B1G1, then I'll get a better deal there. But the quality of bacon was good, at least for me. I don't go out of my way to buy legit good quality bacon from a butcher but store brands always do. All I can say is this bacon was very yummy, didn't shrink like other brands so I will buy it again. Lastly, bring your own bags. I had read about it and also saw it on the YouTube video, lol, but if you don't have any, you can purchase bags there too. One minor thing though, is that when you push your empty shopping cart to the end of the register (after all your stuff is on the conveyor belt) the cashier will ring up your items and put them in a DIFFERENT shopping cart (the one left from the prior customer). So, you in turn will leave your empty shopping cart with the cashier for the next customer. This means that the quarter you get back isn't the quarter you started out with. So, if you happen to use a special quarter (just throwing it out there just in case) just remember that giving away your cart to the cashier means you will get someone else's quarter back when you return your shopping cart. The concept of Aldi's reminded me of a store up in the northeast sans the quarter for the cart. Although that particular chain I did not like because the quality of their products wasn't good. And buying meats there, fuhgeddaboudit! So, shopping here at Aldi's was great and I recommend it for anyone that likes to save money, especially great for college students on a budget. I probably won't be shopping here on a regular basis though, because let's face it I'm too lazy to drive far and I have like 5 Publix within a 5-mile radius of where I live. But if I'm in the mood, I'll drive that extra 15 mins, lol. read more

This grocery store is like the best of "Big Lots" with some great grocery choices. I just love that they have a great variety of produce at prices better than anything in the neighborhood. They compete with Publix, Fresh Market, and the big box store grocery dept. I have purchased everything from Dragon Fruit to a Queen sized tufted headboard. I also enjoy their meat dept. where some of the chicken products are a "never ever" for added chemicals and hormones. The shopping carts are a quarter to borrow, which I love because people bus their carts back into the store instead of leaving them all over the parking lot occupying close up parking spaces. They are eco friendly by encouraging the patrons to either bring their own bags or purchase theirs for a few pennies. A shout out to the cashier Vanessa who is beyond awesome. Not only is she fluent in 3 languages, she offers the best customer service and moves your purchases very quickly through the check out line to make the shopping experience 5+ stars. read more

Since Aldi's has opened up near my home I only go to one or two other grocery stores to get the best deals. I am a big fan of Aldi. Shopping here saves me so much money on groceries. Of course, you have to know what you're getting into. I don't expect the same level of customer service, product selection, and convenience that I get at other, more expensive grocery stores. I know my cashier isn't going to ask me how my day is going or make any other type of polite conversation; that person is going to hustle my groceries into a cart. The most they'll say is "You can swipe now," as soon as they've scanned the first item. I'm totally fine with that - I came to save money on groceries, not make a friend! Anyway, like others have said, they have a nice produce selection, including many items that are organic. I am also a big fan of their cheeses and love that they have so many "Never Any!" options in their deli meats/sausages (Never Any! is a "brand" that doesn't contain any preservatives etc). Aldi also has some great frozen/refrigerated pizzas for those nights when you just don't feel like cooking. The only thing I haven't really been impressed with yet is their bread. The few loaves I've picked up have tasted dry and cheap. Anyway, don't forget your bag, don't forget your quarter, and enjoy not spending $100 on a week's worth of groceries. read more

What is there not to like about this place?? I don't understand why people get upset that it isn't Publix or Trader Joe's. Ummm that's the idea! I, for one, am happy it isn't like the Publix across the street, because that craphole is the reason why I started going to Aldi to begin with! Initially, I did have my reservations, I mean usually when something is cheap, it is rare that it is good quality, too (I am looking at you crummy WalMart across the street!). Aldi does have good quality and their store brands are just as good as some name brands. Their produce is much better quality than the Fresh Market across from it (where I have had many instances of trying to pick out just one apple or zucchini or pint of blueberries that wasn't covered in a sweater of mold and don't even get me started on Fresh Market and the rotten chicken they sold me not once, but twice!) I digress. Back to Aldi. As far as the comment about it being a giant convenience store with lots of pre packaged foods, it is no different than any other supermarket. They put all that stuff up front to entice people to buy it, it is a simple marketing strategy that every single other grocery store uses. This location is always very clean. The staff is fast and friendly. I have NEVER had anyone be rude to me there. In fact, most of the time, they are always saying "Hi" or "Do you need help?". The lines may get long, but boy, do they check you out with lightning fast speed. Often the person unloading their cart is what holds the lines up. (Get that oatmeal on the belt, granny!) 99% of the time, I can get everything I need for the week here. They do not have an overwhelming amount of choices, nor do they have more "exotic" things like ginger root, or turmeric, or acai, but they have most typical grocery items you can get at overpriced Publix, just much cheaper. They do occasionally have items that you would not expect, like chia drinks or quinoa blends, but that is just a bonus. They have a LARGE selection of gluten free items, too. Lord knows you'd pay so much more for the same at Publix and Whole Foods. The only other draw back is that you have to buy a whole bag of some items, as opposed to maybe just 1-2, such as with oranges, apples, potatoes, onions, bananas. I regularly purchase meats, veggies, fruits, paper supplies, bottled water, frozen fruits, frozen veggies, gluten free bread (which is delicious!), eggs, chips, and almond milk. A typical bill for me is $50. They will also have things for the home, like the steam mop I got 6 months ago for $29 that runs circles around the Shark one I paid $100 for that broke within 5 months. The supplied amount of those things is limited, so get there on Wednesdays if you see an item in the ad that you have to have. They have flowers and gardening things right now since it is that time of year. Just remember to bring your quarter for the cart, bring your own bags (unless you want to pay for some there) and know you will be packing your own groceries (a little work never killed anyone). read more

I remember seeing Aldi for the first time awhile back when I lived in Orlando for college. Everyone would tell me how they are cheaper than most grocery stores, and have good prices on produce. I didn't believe it until I went. Since then, I've grown to love this place. I come here every week now to get my grocery shopping done. I get so much for such a good price! Last time I went, I got a lot of fruit and vegetables for under $20. That's not bad at all considering it would be a lot more if I went to my local Publix or Winn Dixie. I highly recommend Aldi. They have everything and anything that you're looking for at a very affordable price. It's also a plus that this new location was built right up the road from me. This new Aldi grocery store opened a few weeks ago, so I stopped in yesterday to check it out. It was my first time in any Aldi store. Here are my takeaways: - I'm glad I had a quarter in the bottom of my purse to "borrow" a shopping cart while I was there. - The store is clean and the staff was busy stocking and organizing shelfs. - Their food prices are definitely cheaper than Publix and Winn Dixie. If you need to reduce your grocery bill, try shopping here. - If you're dedicated to certain brands, don't shop here looking for them. Try Aldi's less expensive brand, and if you don't like it, don't buy it again. - I love that they've incorporated so many German and European brands and specialty foods into their inventory. And...they're well priced. Lots of sausage, bratwurst, hot dog and kielbasa options here. - The store and selection size is much smaller than what we're used to with our super-sized stores. - Produce is way cheaper than Publix and looks good. Nice selection of organic produce at good prices. Unfortunately, much of the produce is pre-packaged in groupings much larger than this single woman can consume in a week. - Very good prices on milk, eggs, bacon, cheese, meat and pork in particular. I spent about $50 on this first Aldi visit, buying a random selection of herbed cheese, seafood, crackers, granola and a roast. Ate the cheese last night and it was great. Plan to cook the roast for Sunday dinner. It was about 30% cheaper than what I'd pay at Publix. I'll let you know if it doesn't measure up! I'm excited to have this new grocery shopping opportunity in the area. It won't fit all my needs, but it definitely is a good option for organic produce, milk, dairy and eggs. read more

I've been at this store about 4 times now I like it prices are better than Winn-Dixie and Publix they're great for eggs vegetables fruit cream cheese crackers pretzels potato chips fruit drinks vegetable drinks I try to stay out of Walmart if I can and I'm not happy about Publix and their pricing so I find this a wonderful place to go to get fill in items they do not have everything you're looking for but I will continue to shop here yes you do have to bag your own groceries and they do charge an outrageous amount of one quarter for the cart I guess if the quarter bothers you go back to Publix or better yet go to Walmart for the free show ( circus show) and not pay a quarter personally I don't think Publix pricing or Walmart's show is worth a quarter read more

Best kept secret, well maybe not a secret but you won't know what you're missing or how much you can save if you don't at least check it out. Aldi is a BIG name German based grocery. Look it up on the internet. Join one of the many Aldi Facebook groups. The AOS (aisle of shame) is called such because of the non-grocery items they offer weekly. For example garden gazebo $179, name brand knock-off shoes $9.99, patio furniture $125. Yeah, killer prices for quality items. Do the stock many of the AOS items? No. Do they restock? No. Do all the stores get all the specials? No. BUT if you're lucky enough to obtain the merchandise you won't regret it. The groceries are not our county's name brand but believe me when I tell you that they are the same (most of the time better.) I could go on and on about this store, their great employees, and their fabulous customers forever. Your best bet is to sign-up for their weekly newsletter (the ads) and join several of the Facebook groups. The information shared in the groups is epic. read more

Incredibly rude cashier. Our first time at an Aldi and will not be returning. We stopped in to pick up a few things, the cashier Ann (according to the receipt 3/5/18 at 9:06pm) put our items in a cart as we were checking out. When we paid, I went to take the cart and she pulled it back and yelled "no, that's my cart". I was confused and asked, she repeated "it's my cart", banged on the cart and looked away as she rang up the next customer. There was no greeting, no thank you for shopping with us. I've never been treated so overtly poorly as a customer. Ann should have explained to us how the carts work , but instead yelled it's her cart and looked away. Regardless of the prices, you do not give a store your business to be treated with disrespect. read more

This is the first time I have visited this Aldi. If you are trying you find it It's in the Shopping center with the Denny's and Michael's Craft store. It used to be a Comp US / Tiger Direct store. I was looking to get a few things for a quick Lasagna for last nights dinner. I found the things I needed at a good price, The ricotta was just a touch below Publix and Winn-Dixie in price but every bit as good, Also the package of sweet Italian Sausage was also very good.. The pineapples were 1.19 each and candy sweet as were the strawberrys at 1.20. I purchased the frozen mahi which was amazing. I found bottled water with the flip tops in pba free bottles 2.99/case! I love Aldi! Prices are great and there is a big enough selection that I can do most of my shopping for the week there. I've saved so much money doing my shopping here instead of Publix. My only complaint is that the produce and meat sections are not always well stocked depending on what time you go (I've had this issue at other locations as well). I visited the newest Aldi location in my area after Hurricane Matthew. I needed some last minute stuff for a tailgate. This location is close to Sawgrass and a little different from their stand alone locations. The carts are inside and yes you still need a quarter to unlock them, which you receive back once you return it. As soon as you enter the wine/beer aisle is the first thing you see and it's much larger than the other locations. They have the same items as other locations and a more modern looking produce section. The only thing is they did not have any refrigerated or frozen food after the storm so I didn't get the full store experience. They were expected to restock those items the following day. All in all a good experience and since it's the closest location to my home, I'll definitely be back! read more

As long a you know about loaning a shopping cart, bring your own bag and you bag it, and produce is pre bagged, and most items are not name brands ( mostly are but with different labels) then you will be a happy shopper. My favorites are the cheeses (great taste and unbelivable prices,) produce, meats (mostly hormone free),ice cream, protein and fiber bars, cereal, spices and sauces, condiments juices, milk, and eggs and the frozen entrees. I dare anyone to find the same good quality anywhere for less money. I have never had a problem with the cashiers. My second favorite store is Trader Joes and guess what ,the original owner of tTrader Joes and Aldis were brothers in Germany. read more
