I visited the Edgewater Public Market for the first time and decided to try this place out. I got the Vegetarian Arepa (black beans, avocado, fried plantains, tomatoes, lettuce, cheese, Guasacaca sauce). I thought the ingredients tasted good, but I wish they were more evenly distributed. Authentic Venezuelan food! The tequeños and arepas are on point; same goes for the drinks. The only disappointment was the texture of the cachapas but that could be due to the type of corn available which could be a different variety from the maíz criollo used in Venezuela to achieve the right consistency. Ordering can be done at the cash point which is user friendly but if you do happen to interact with the staff they are nice and helpful. Even when busy they have a reasonable wait time to get your food. Love the ambiance of the Edgewater Public Market but know if busy, and you have at least one other person with you, find a place to sit before you go order your food. I was really happy to come across Arepas House at Civic Center Eats. After looking at all the trucks, I found that this one had both unique food and vegan options. I've never had Venezuelan or an arepa before so both of these things attracted me to the truck. I love finding something new to try and get so excited when I find out it can be tweaked to fit my diet. The person working the counter in the truck was very helpful. I also liked that they used a buzzer system so you did not have to stand around in the crowded area by the truck and could wander off while you waited for your food. Even though it was very crowded and they were busy the wait was not very long. My vegan arepa was a little messy and hard to eat, so I was glad it came in a bowl with a fork, but was also wrapped up to make picking it up easier. The plantains and avocado were quite tasty. I really appreciate that they created a vegan mayo based sauce for the vegan option. My boyfriend tried an arepa too. I forget which meat based one he had but he agreed that while it was a little messy it was also quite tasty and made for a fun meal. read more

First time trying Arepas House and I was really impressed! I got an order of the fried plantains and cheese, plus the pabellon and everything was just bursting with flavor. Loved the sweet/salty combo of the plantains with cheese and everything inside the arepa was delicious! Especially loved the shredded beef and the guasacaca sauce. You can even pick how spicy you want everything to be. I went mild because I wanted to share with my toddler (who also loved the beef!) but I'll definitely try it spicy next time for myself. It's nice that you get a big ol' portion, but it does make it pretty hard to eat. I ended up using a fork, but that means not getting any of the cornmeal in the bite. Oh well. Edgewater is a super trendy food hub but ultimately had to find a good arepa in Denver. I got the spicy pabellón which was absolutely delicious. The beef was so flavorful and tender and juicy I was thoroughly impressed. Only complaint is that I wish it had more plantain- only one small piece in it. My friend got the patacón which sounded good in theory but was really overwhelming. Very loaded and very creamy which I personally didn't care for but he didn't mind. The tequenos were bomb!! Like Venezuelan mozarrella sticks but less greasy. My service was prompt and didn't have mistakes but two of my friends kept having issues with their orders. read more

The Edgewater Market is a great place for all. I love all the options it makes eating with a group super simple. The vegetarian arepa is very good. You have the option to make it spicy and that's just what I did. I did find it rather odd that the arepa has lettuce and tomato within it, however it did add a nice little crunch. The yuca fries are very tasted and come with a spicy dipping sauce that makes them so much better. They have great juices to choose from as well so be sure to try one! read more

These arepas are absolutely one of my favorite foods! I love ordering "The Mix" with spicy sauce. The plantains add a delicious sweetness to the savory and spicy meat and sauces, and the arepa comes in a fluffy and soft pocket package. Don't ask for a fork - eat it like a sandwich and prepare for a flavor bomb in your mouth! I've also tired the Pabellón in the past if you're feeling wild. My team, we bought around $124 worth of food for pick up. Went to pick it up, I had two bags that fit in one hand and the drink holder in the other, as soon as I turn around, my drinks fell right in front of the store, went back to the guy that gave me my food and told them that my drinks fell and the first guy just gave me a "idk what to do gesture" and tells me that happens a lot and there is nothing he can do about it, then a second guy comes up and I told him what happened and said he packed the drinks and that he did it right, essentially blaming it on me, stating also that he noticed I have 2 other bags and the drink carrier in just ONE hand, like, is it my fault that your drink carrier cannot properly handle 3 drinks? (I posted a picture of bottom of a drink, it will make sense once you see it) then I asked for a manager, who wasn't there but they decided to call him. The second guy comes back and says that he understands my point of view BUT says he is willing to give 2 drinks for free for the price of one. I refused and left. My manager then called the store, spoke with the manager who didn't disclosed his name, and explained the situation, instead of the manager been understanding and whatnot, the managers response was that he is aware of the situation and that he CHECKED the security cameras and saw me leaving outside, which is not true, this is a foodcourt, the drinks fell from your faulty practices or poor quality cup and holder right in front of your food stand, and also said I dropped the drinks on purpose and then advised my manager that I should be careful next time, essentially blaming the whole ordeal on the customer, for 3 drinks, really pathetic since he ended up replacing the drinks. My manager send another employee to pick up the drinks and to add insult to the injury, they took picture of him walking away with the drinks which he wasn't able to carry properly in the carrier and decided to grabbed the drinks not using the carrier due to the drinks not able to clinch onto the carrier due to the round nature of the bottom of the cup which I attached a picture. Overall, this establishment is not customer friendly, petty, not business savvy cause it chooses 4$ dollars drinks over $100s in business and very greedy. Will not recommend. read more

I wasn't a fan. The arepas seemed thin and tasted stale. I ordered the pabellón. The meat was good but not very seasoned. I ordered the tequeños and one was served burst. The sauce they gave me to dip the tequeños tasted like a generic mayo/ketchup type of sauce. I didn't see any deserts on the menu and was disappointed not to see Chicha or Cocada drinks on their menu. I would love to see fresh arepas being cooked to order if that is the main attraction. I'm a big fan of Arepas and I have now found my favorite spot. First time I tried their arepas was at a Jazz event at City Park in Denver over the summer. Ever since then, I have been waiting for them to open up this location in Edgewater. I was not disappointed! I had only tried the chicken arepa and loved it. I was recommended by Jorge to try the shredded beef arepa along with some tequeños and thought it was delicious. Food, service and staff is great. Everyone is very friendly, with great attitudes. This has become my go to spot at the Public Market. The arepas are delicious, the staff is friendly and the food is usually pretty quick. One word of advice, the patacon is delicious, but it is definitely enough for two. The regular arepas are always well stuffed, even the lobster. read more

Tasty, big arepas, including a vegetarian option. Part of Edgewater Market so you can take your food and go upstairs to sit outside on the deck in the sunshine. Also one of the few places we have been able to find tequeños. My partner is Venezuelan and says the food is very authentic, reminds him of home so this was definitely a good find! read more

Ate from the food truck for years. Now, at their Sloans Lake fixed location, the food is still wonderful. Favorite arepa is the Queen with chicken salad, but the Patacon is the ultimate, a bowl of food between fried plantains. Delicious. Best fast food in town.
