I have never left an online review before, but Ardmore deserves praise. My heater gave out on Christmas morning 2024. I called the Ardmore emergency service number on the furnace (Ardmore installed it as well) expecting no answer or a voicemail at best. Bob's wife answered immediately, and that sweet voice immediately put me at ease. I was shocked I received a human at 6:30 am. She put Bob on. He diagnosed the problem over facetime and in 10 minutes had the furnace working. They saved Christmas and made my year. I am so delighted to have crossed paths with Ardmore Fresh Air.  My furnace was about to die, and I reached out to a friend to see if he had someone to recommend. My friend is an electrician and handy-person so I knew that he would be in the know. He recommended Ardmore and shared that he uses them and recommends them often. He never hears any complaints. From the start, I was super impressed. Rob came out for a visit to discuss new furnace. He was patient and knowledgeable. He took his time reviewing the options and answering our questions (sometimes repeat question).  He helped us figure out what would be best for us and outlines pros and cons.  We ended up going with a multi-stage furnace. It was the most expensive, but it would pay off quickly with the utility bill savings (perhaps 6 years).  There was no pressure to pick this one. This is what worked best for us. On top of the great service, I found that Ardmore offered better prices. I checked with 3 other vendors. One vendor that came to visit was very rushed. Another one wouldn't come for a site visit, which was important to us being first time furnace buyers. For all 3 prices, Ardmore had the best overall prices.  The regular cleaning/maintenance prices seemed competitive/average. The installation was perfect. They were on time, professional, hardworking, respectful of the space and all the good things that one would expect. Once it was complete, Rob went carefully reviewed how it works and how to maintain. He gave us tips on best filters to use and best places to get them.  He addressed any concerns that I had.  He helped us set-up the app.  Even though it was a long day for him, he made sure that we were fully satisfied before leaving.  It's a pandemic and they had no problem wearing a mask during the appointment and installation. I think they may have worn shoe cover-ups as well. Feeling safe was important to me. Mary, who assisted with scheduling/payment, was very kind. She made it easy to schedule. She also dealt efficiently with dealing with my building management. I look forward to chatting with her on the phone when I needed to take care of something. She brightened my day. Since the installation, I've recommended him to two neighbors/friends.  The unit below me (condo owner and apartment renter) was very impressed with the friendly service. Rob did not pressure them to replace the furnace.  It had a few more years to live. For sure when the time comes, they will go to Ardmore.  My other neighbor is getting a new furnace next month through them.  We are also both getting our AC units cleaned through Ardmore shortly. I am happy that we had such great service, and it always makes me feel good that I can send along a recommendation to my friend and neighbors with my stamp of approval. Absolutely wonderful company; friendly, knowledgeable, understanding and patient employees; top notch service. I experienced a gas leak in my house pipes, called Ardmore and they came to the rescue. Bob took the time necessary to fix all leaks, explain the issues to me and gave me solid advice on how to keep things well-maintained to avoid future problems. When the gas company came to turn the gas back on and make sure the repairs had been made they were floored at the job that was done by Ardmore. They're a fantastic small family business, super caring, super trustworthy, super reliable, and very fair prices. They came out last minute for us to handle an emergency in the middle of winter and were very understanding that I had to be squeezed in because my home had no heat and I have children. They came on a weekend and we're even prepared with space heaters in the event that they couldn't fix the problem, they could at least make sure that myself and my kids were warm until the problem could be resolved. These guys did a fantastic job for us. We recently bought an old bungalow in Chicago. It had an old HVAC system, with even older ducting, and it didn't adequately cool the house, especially upstairs. Rob and Mike and the crew ripped out that nonsense and installed two completely new systems, with all new supply and return ducting. One for the upstairs (dormered attic) and one for the first floor/basement. They were able to do this working completely behind the walls (and closets in a couple areas), placing all the supply registers at the perimeter and returns at the center. They were able to go through the brick rear wall and capture the back porch addition. These systems work great and were put to the test immediately with 95 degree days. They did all this in a tight two week timeline so we could move before renters took over our old space, and the precision job minimized the plaster repairs needed. Bob @ Ardmore will always be my goto. He's worked my properties both in the City and the Burb for both heat and cooling. I swear Bob has the magic touch: he listens to me describe what's going on, grabs some gear from his toolbox, and has the issue diagnosed in minutes! Once a furnance went from shutting itself off to firing up and blowing hot air when Bob adjusted a component after being onsite for 5 mins!! I reckon this is one of those rare combinations of Bob's vast experience and deep knowledge of his trade. And Ardmore has equipped their folks with the latest tech: Bob walked around with a tablet to take pics and notes. I called Ardmore after receiving a quote from another company to repair our upstairs AC unit, which wasn't working. The original company quoted $1200 for repairs that they couldn't even explain. I spoke with Mary, one of the owners at Ardmore, and she was very caring, trustworthy and able to move some things around to send someone out for a second opinion the next day. The Ardmore technician diagnosed the problem and said all I needed was a capacitor and some refrigerant, for more than half the cost of the original quote. He did the repairs in less than an hour and my upstairs is now cooling again! I will trust this company and it's owners and staff for all of my heating and cooling services going forward and highly recommend them to everyone else reading these reviews. read more

Wow, this is the first time I'm going to "that guy." You know, the one that gives a much lower review to a business than any previous reviewers. In the process of selling a condo, and as part of the inspection process, it was recommended that the furnace get a good round of cleaning and general maintenance. Called Armore and made an appointment. Asked the current tenants in the condo to stay home for the two-hour window provided by the company. Bottom line: the technician neither showed up or called, so my tenants wasted a Saturday afternoon waiting for nothing. I called the company and got voicemail. By then it was too late anyway - now I am scrambling to get another company in there before our closing date in a couple of weeks. Judging from the reviews posted here, as long as you call them in an emergency situation and open your wallet wide, they will show up. Otherwise, look elsewhere. If there were a category for zero stars, Ardmore would earn it. read more

Our furnace was dying a slow and painful death as well as costing us big bucks during winter with its 60% efficiency. We called Ardmore and they provided us with info about the various tax and rebate programs available; after rebates and tax incentives, we were able to get a high efficiency (95% efficient - variable heat and variable fan speed) Lennox furnace for the cost of a standard efficiency unit. During the free home estimate, Mike took the time to answer all of our questions and concerns. More importantly, he asked about our future home improvement plans. We have a Chicago-style bungalow with an unfinished basement and attic. He wanted to make sure that if we planned to expand the living space soon, we'd have a large enough furnace to heat the living areas. Prior to installation day, Mike returned to our house to conduct a "heat load." Based on things like our house's dimensions, number of windows, type of insulation, etc., he was able to suggest the right sized furnace for our home. On installation day, Mike and his assistant arrived promptly and once we got them set up in the basement, they worked steadily until our old monster furnace was out, and our new slick Lennox was in. Not only did the furnace and duct work look great, but they left the area cleaner than when they arrived. They even removed and disposed of the heavy concrete slab where the old furnace once lived. Ardmore is a great family-owned business and we were extremely please with their price and workmanship. We will definitely use them in the future for upgrading our air conditioning unit. read more

Having your furnace inconveniently located in your attic was no impediment to the installers at Ardmore. Our old furnace had been hanging on by a thread for the last couple years. When it went out this last time, we knew we needed a long term solution and Ardmore was recommended by a good friend. We had one other quote and several contractors shaking their heads. Great company. I had Rob service my new house a couple times. When I say new I mean new to me, the house was built in the 1920's and has old radiators. I couldn't get them going and I called him at about 10pm freaking out because it was getting cold at night and we have a new born (this was in the winter). He came out at 1AM and it took him about 2 hours to get everything going. We also used Ardmore at our old house about 3 years ago to install a new air conditioning condensor. Our tenant's heater failed two days before a cold front was expected in November. I called around frantically and the nice lady (Mary) who answered the phone for Ardmore managed to move around a few obligations and got someone to come out the same day to give me a quote for a new furnace. I got a few quotes that day, but they were the only that does a heat load calculations instead of just using rule of thumb calculations to determine the size of furnace needed. Great idea because who wants to potentially install the wrong sized furnace and than deal with that headache too. Mary's son Bob came out to the condo to give me a quote, took measurements of my condo and windows for the heat load calculation. He was especially understanding when another company happen to come out to give a quote at the same exact time. They are a certified Ruud Pro Partner (only install this brand) and are NATE certified which gave me extra comfort. The install happened quickly after the quote and the installers were courteous, careful and patient with all my questions. Bob came halfway through the install to check things out and help with the install. They even upgraded my 1 inch filter to a 5 inch filter (only have to change these once a year) because Mary was concerned about my allergies. They left only after all my questions were answered and the system was up and running to my satisfaction. If you are in the market for a RUUD and want to make sure you have the correctly sized unit, I highly recommend going with this company. read more

Our thermostat went out on Saturday night, I woke up to my crying newborn, and when I got out of bed I thought I was going to freeze! I asked my husband to go down and turn up the heat and lo-and-behold, the thermostat was not working at all. So, after covering everyone up with an extra blanket, we went back to sleep... in the morning called Ardmore to come out and help, and amazingly enough, they made it to our place on a Sunday morning within an hour! One of the owners showed up, Rob (I believe) and he was great! Gave us a new thermostat and then gave us a quote on some heating work we need to get done. The service charge for a Sunday was incredibly reasonable and we were so satisfied with the service. Long story short, I had bought my apartment a year and a half ago, but waited until a few weeks ago to have the furnace checked out. I used one of the bigger HVAC services companies for the initial inspection test and they told me (accurately) that my furnace was 20 years old and needed to be replaced. They provided quotes for replacement furnaces, which after checking around were marked up considerably over what I now know to be a fair price for those systems. Upon calling Ardmore Fresh Air, they quoted the system at the fair price value and spent a substantial amount of time making sure that I was getting the best system and best value for what I needed in my apartment. The installation professional was punctual, courteous and knowledgeable, both for the initial measurement visit and for the installation day. The installation team spent the bulk of the day on my furnace install job, leaving me feeling comfortable that no corners were cut, and the team took the time to solicit my opinion on the cosmetic aspects of the job. All of the folks at Ardmore Fresh Air have always been great to deal with. We've used them several times for different issues, some emergency, some not, and they have always been on time and courteous. Our emergency service came during 90 degree weather a few years ago when our AC went out. My wife was home at the time with 2 young kids and we were in a 2nd floor town home. Needless to say it was HOT. We contacted Ardmore at about 9pm, and Bob was out by 8am the next morning to fix the AC unit. The service was quick, fairly inexpensive for an emergency service, and he had the necessary part in the van. Our most recent service had to be coordinated with our roofers. A vent pipe on the roof needed to be replaced and capped, but the roof and current false chimney surrounding the vent pipe needed to be torn off first. We've had rain on and off for a few days, so it was hard to know when the forecast was going to cooperate, and the roofers we're going to show up. Biada (sorry spelling?), Mary, and Rob we're all extremely accommodating. Once we got everything scheduled Rob was on-time, professional, and did great work. The new vent pipe looks great, and it saved us nearly $400 versus putting up a new false chimney. I can't recommend Ardmore Fresh Air enough! read more

We took a long time to educate ourselves on all the AC companies in our area, after extensive research all roads lead to ONE company and we decided on Ardmore Fresh Air. Ardmore Fresh Air installed AC in our two-flat building, Mike and Rafael did an amazing job. The building never had AC in it, so we had to start from scratch, ductwork and all. The project lasted just over two weeks, we stayed in the building during the project, the team was on top of their game every single minute of the project! They cleaned up after themselves, and this made our lives during the project easy and stress-free. We live in the Southwest Suburbs. Ardmore was recommended by a friend of mine who remodels kitchens. Rob came down from the Northside and couldn't have been more personal and professional. He made suggestions and told us everything up front what to expect. It was no easy job as they had to put the condenser unit in our attic and run all the duct work and cut all the vents. They arrived prompt and cleaned up everyday when they finished. Mike and Ramiro spent 6 days crawling around inside our attic and we're friendly and courteous and professional. After hearing about the quality of service that Ardmore provides from multiple friends and family members, they were the first company I thought to call when my furnace went out on a 0-degree night. The owner's wife returned my call within 15 minutes at around 10:30pm. Bob, the owner, came on the line and spent the next hour helping me to find a potential fix to get the furnace back up at least for the night. When I had trouble finding a component that he was describing, we turned on video chat and he inspected my furnace remotely! We (really, he) found a simple fix that got the furnace back up and running for the rest of the night. Total charge: $0. I scheduled a service call to have him come out the next day and he discovered the root cause that even the furnace itself wasn't detecting via the LED error code system. I was fully expecting to pay for both the time he spent with me remotely and the service call - and I would've been more than happy to pay it - but he only charged me for the service call. And the charge for the service call was far under what I was expecting. There are not enough stars on Yelp to rate Ardmore adequately. I'm so grateful to Bob for his help and his compassion at a time when another company would have licked their chops at the opportunity to price gouge. They have a customer and referrer for life.
