I looked and met with…read moremany cabinet shops from big box stores to small shops to custom cabinet makers before deciding and I am extremely happy with my choice and the outcome. Our kitchen has three large windows so there wasn't a ton of options for change but the changes we did make transformed my kitchen/family room into a warm, inviting, entertainment space which was exactly what I was looking for. The bar/breakfast area and island gave me the counter and entertainment space I needed not to mention the additional storage. I finally have space for food and the pull out shelves have made deep cabinet storage easily accessible. The cherry wood with the black onyx glaze stand out against my darker wood floor, the molding around the cabinets perfectly matched and transitioned into the existing crown molding and the seeded glass in one cabinet allows me to show off my barware. Going with custom cabinets gave me options I didn't have with the prefab cabinets like the wine storage Tony suggested around the microwave. I was even able to keep my corner shelves but with an updated integrated look. Best of all was Leal's Cabinets attention to detail and the care upon installing them, being considerate of my wood floors and granite counter tops. Preparation and respect of ones property really makes you feel better when you are dealing with contractors. After living with my cabinets for a week I noticed one of the sliding cabinet drawers wasn't catching and Tony promptly stopped by to take a look and it now closes with the touch of a finger. Another thing I liked about Leal's Cabinets was that I was able to bounce ideas off of him and get his opinion regarding the design. I want to hear the honest opinion of the person who has the experience but feel in the end that if I choose not to follow the advice it is OK but at least I move forward informed and aware of my choices. I wanted inset drawers and doors, and that is an art, do I didn't go with the lowest cost options from the Valley. The photos on their website look so elegant, I thought it was unlikely I could afford them, but when their bid came in it was substantially below the competition. My contractor mostly works with another cabinet-maker who was impressive but cost prohibitive. The designer worked hard on squeezing everything into a small space. Now I am in my home, and I love my little kitchen. Thank you, Birchwood, for making a gem-like little kitchen possible for me.

The doors, slides, paint, and overall installation quality did not match the premium price tag. Furthermore, the island design deviated from the agreed-upon drawings. Instead of rebuilding it correctly, they patched it with a panel, leaving a highly visible seam, a fix that even their own installer expressed embarrassment over. Paying in advance cost us all of our leverage. I highly advise looking elsewhere for a full custom cabinet buildout.
