The chairs are pretty standard for a venue like this and the stage set up looks pretty versatile. I liked the fact that the restroom was for all genders. There was some great art on display and for purchase as well. While this neighborhood is not one I visit frequently, it is an easily transit accessible location and there was street parking available in the area (I understand this is pretty limited when there's an event going on at the Stadium however). The building looks well weathered but well used as a live music venue. Purchasing tickets in advance was easy and the associated website was good. I'd definitely go to another show here. There is good acoustics for the venue in general. Signage isn't great -- it would be better if the building had better identification.

From the outside it still looks like a house but it's a funky house, the window coverings are pretty iconic of The Aviary already! The cool thing is, now that it's finished I can really see how much work they have put into the place! The entrance way is more like a venue (and less like walking into a living room) it brings you round to the bar and where you pay cover etc, once properly inside the space has a nice bar the length of the room, a handful of tables and chairs, decent size stage at the back, local art displayed all round and awesome sound! The vibe is cosy, and there big emphasis on supporting local artists - I dig that. I like the beer listings on the wall - mostly craft beer and Phil knows a lot about them and recommended a really nice lager to me while I was there. I already love watching bands in this space and can't wait to go back.

I see…read moreother reviews talking about a $5.00 membership, but they must have gotten rid of that because I've never been asked to pay for a membership. The venue is old and full of character for sure, but it is not accessible at all if you have any kind of mobility issues. And it's a shame, because the management does seem to WANT to be inclusive, but they are terribly limited by the physical location. It's true that you walk down a dingy and dank outdoor hallway to get to the entrance, and then walk up a whole bunch of stairs to get to the ID checking station. Then you go in and get to the ticket scanning station. Maybe she was having a bad day, but the attitude from her was really off-putting. When you have a mobile ticket, apparently they can't scan the QR Code if you have your phone in dark-mode. I've never had that issue with any other venue accepting my mobile tickets, but maybe their scanner is different. Anyway, she was really annoyed with me for that. Once inside, there were 3 bars open and the bartenders were all super friendly. We went back to the same bartender each time and she always remembered our orders. As others have said, the washrooms are down a flight of stairs. If you choose to leave while there are still people lined up to get in, you will have to squeeze past them in that same dank alley/hallway thing you came in - There are no other exits (though I'm sure you could use the other doors in the event of an emergency). The slanted dance floor is not everyone's cup of tea, but I think it adds to the quirky character of the old building. I thought the sound quality from the performers were great for both shows I saw and the lighting was excellent as well.

Bar gets very crowded with spectators leaning against it. You are not allowed to exit at East doors by stage, so this means a lot of in and out traffic at the ticket gate. People just need to learn some manners. It's $10.00 to park in the nearby lot. Bathrooms are ok.

I did not pay to sit in a room beside the room the band was playing in.

My companion really like the thick Texas bread with the Monte Cristo and he enjoyed the crispy fries. While we were dining and a live band started to play it ruined our experience because it was extremely loud so we were screaming at each other. On top of that the band was racing through the song, drowning out the lead singer which seems he wasn't comfortable singing.

The line was long when we arrived about half an hour before doors open. They must not had been expecting the crowd as they had to bring out chairs for people to sit around the tables close to the dance floor. There are booths at the back on the raised level and on the main level. There's also tables and chairs close to the dance floor. On the side of the stage are stairs to tables and chairs. The view of the band is not bad from the side. The bar is on one side but the server came by a few times to check in with us. The music wasn't too loud and those in the casino could hear the band. We walked to our seats when the doors opened (6:30). We were pleased the waitress came and took our drink order and our dinner order as it was plated for the evening and we just had to choose our salad and which type of meat. Well from there it went downhill. It was 7:45 when we still DID NOT have our drinks but tables who arrived later than us had already two drinks and their salads. We had to walk up and speak to either the floor manager who seemed to not care and our waitress interrupted and told us the bar was slow and she put our order in a while ago and they are right there. They didn't arrive for another 15 minutes. When our drinks were dropped off she proceeds to try to take out dinner order again to which we responded she took 1.5 hours ago. We had to ask a bus boy to get our salads. After that we waited another 30 minutes and then finally asked another waiter to get our meals as a majority of tables already had their desserts. He brought our dinner out NOT our waitress. To end the whole horrible experience we also had to ask a "manager" for our dessert as we did not get it until the show had started. Our waitress did not ever once come ask how things were if we wanted further drinks or anything. The managers did not seem too worried about our experience either. I would not recommend this venue to anyone after last night.
