We decided to check out 4 cats clay studio in St. Albert to see how they teach pottery wheel. All I can say is that it's a waste of money. For one thing if you book a class there is no refund...huh, seriously...so okay fine. It was $30 per person and you only get 2 clay balls to work with. Then if you can even make something it's $20 more for glazing which you need to come back to do in a week. For one thing it's a smaller ball of clay than what we are used to from other classes and it wasn't the greatest of clays. Kinda felt more of a cheap clay. And we didn't have any tools to check clay depth, just a sponge Turning clay standing up with non professional wheels is another disaster waiting to happen for beginners. The wheels had no real control for rotations which makes it super hard to figure out and your back gets fatigued quickly. You gotta be sitting to do pottery, it's supposed to be relaxing and therapeutic. There is zero instruction for when we arrived so we just went for it. Which our projects failed miserably and the so called instructor had only been on the wheel for a week. So basically we were training her...which we felt she didn't care for at all Normally after your done at other shops we would clean up the equipment but she said no (I think to get rid of us faster) luckily she walked away to the front of the store and I told the other couple trying the wheel for the first time to goto Viva Clayworks for a better experience. I'd give no stars if I could. Very disappointing overall experience. This was my first time trying pottery, am I to believe all places are like this? It wasn't even a class, it was video-direction on an iPad. (Fair enough. Maybe that was mentioned in the fine print. I never checked.) Additionally, the staff wasn't at all helpful with any questions. I was brushed off. Again, this is my first ever pottery experience. Pretty salty at this point. Second visit was to paint the items. Again, no help. There were other classes going on in the same room (in-person ones, not video.) I had to ask others painting theirs pieces questions. Luckily, they were very helpful! 3rd visit: Pick up the items, (staff was busy and again, brushed off) one item was smashed and the other was cracked. The glaze wasn't even all the way to the bottom of the pieces. Careless? Inexperience? Who knows. (See photos if I'm able to share them here.) Do not recommend this place. Save your money. I've been to 4Cats Art Studio with my children now a couple of times - for school activities and birthday parties. Most recently, I stopped in yesterday, to drop off money towards a little girl's birthday account because all she wants for her birthday is money towards art classes here! Yep, it's that good! From splatter paint parties (and I hear they are brining in black light splatter paint parties) to drawing to 3-D canvas painting with clay, 4Cats does it all. Family nights, field trips, classes, you name it - they can probably do it! Birthday parties will run you about $20 a kiddo and the kid leaves with an art project they made - WAY better than a loot bag! Party bookings are held on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays and are times for 1 hour 45 minutes to include a project and treat time. Parties are geared for 3 years of age and up. I was just checking out the site and my son is already clamouring for one of the Star Wars themed ones where they make a clay yoda! I can foresee a party or two or three coming up here for my kiddos' birthday parties! 4Cats - You seem pretty purrfect to me! I booked a "Pouring" class on March 5, 2020 for my daughter's Bridal Shower on June 27 at the St. Albert location. $236.25 was applied to my credit card on March 5, 2020 for the class. Given I did NOT receive a confirmation email or phone call within a couple 2 weeks of the class as indicated on 4Cats Arts Studio "We'll Call to Confirm" Policy, I tried to get ahold of someone beginning Friday June 19. I understand the COVID-19 crisis has affected business, however 4Cats Arts Studio does not have the right to take my money and not provide a service. I did NOT cancel the Pouring Party. There would only be 4 of us attending. I have an issue believing 4Cats is unable to provide a "Social Distancing" environment for 4 people. If restaurants are permitted to seat 6 people at a table, I'm sure 4Cats could find room for 4 people. Andrea from the St. Albert location responded by email to my request Tuesday June 23 with a "GENERIC" apology. I was offered a credit for a future party at 4Cats Arts Studio. I made it very clear in my initial email to 4Cats that I was NOT interested in having a Bridal Shower AFTER my daughter was married. I expected a party on June 27 or a refund. I do not have small children or any plans to hold a party in the future to utilize a credit. I'll end up losing my money. I'm extremely upset given this was my daughter's special day. read more

We came to 4 cats for a birthday party and showed up a bit early. The person we talked to was quite rude and asked us to leave and come back right when the party was scheduled to start. We explained that we were told to come a bit early but she continues to be rude and insisted we leave. I have no interest in coming back to a company who is so rude to their customers. read more

I would give this location less than 1 star if I could. I had received a gift voucher in December 2017. Since then this location has offered less and less classes compared to other locations, making it difficult to find one to attend. It says on the website that for this location you must email before booking with a gift voucher (unlike other locations where you can book online). After over a week I have received one email response that said "our registration is done on our website," yet I am unable to use the voucher on the website and haven't received another email response to help me register. I have also called several times with no answer. The worst part is that vouchers are only valid for one location. Given the lack of customer service so far, I will be forgetting about my gift voucher and going to another 4cats location. This location doesn't seem to care about gaining customers and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. read more

Where do I start, I enrolled my 2 1/2 year old son for an art class together, and boy did we have fun. Always a delight to see what we will create. A fun, safe, uncrowded environment to enjoy together and explore different art mediums. Although Troy participated often, it was okay too if he just watched, no pressure here. And what a delight, I just want to take owner/operator Maria home with me! So wonderful with little children, and big! read more
