My daughter started formal vocal lessons when she was 7 and her instruction was good, but we were looking for more options. We found this when we decided to sign up at Visionary College for Performing Arts (VCPA) at their south side location in Edmonton last September, when my daughter turned 13. Several opportunities have been offered to my daughter, and these have made us feel very welcome, as well as providing her with excellent experience performing for live audiences of all sizes. Her instructor is very positive, encouraging, professional, and knows how to provide excellent feedback through honest conversation. These feedback skills are very important, as everyone learns differently, and I feel we have an instructor who, not only loves what she does, but whose teaching style takes the time to get to know her students, and in turn, knows how to bring out the very best in her students. She focuses on various techniques and vocal exercises, including breathing, so that the student learns how to protect their voice, and therefore, continue to sing for many years to come. There are many other opportunities available at VCPA, such as acting, dancing, and music lessons of all types. We have also been very pleased with the customer service and knowledge of the staff from Innovations Music on the main floor, and have purchased a Ukulele and Guitar. I would highly recommend trying VCPA, because they really do have a lot to offer. :) read more

I question holding an entire organization responsible for one employees bad day. Visionary College has been a part of our family since my son was 18 mos old. He is now 16. We have received excellent service, always been able to ask questions and when response was unsatisfactory we have always received an immediate call back from the owners Stan and Martha. As well, Martha Livingstone took it upon herself to do a fund raiser for our family when we lost our house to a house fire. The money she raised helped us get re-settled and buy all the essentials we needed in order to set up a temporary home. Martha has also taken my son, under her wing. She has provided him with performance opportunities, training, and has been an excellent mentor for him. We have had amazing instructors in piano, musical theater, early childhood music lessons, voice, and all have understood my children and obviously care about them. I would highly recommend Visionary College at any time. read more

We've had two girls attend VCPA since they were about 4 years old, in the Creative Music program, group piano and private piano lessons. We've had some great teachers such as Martha, Simon and Kristine Reed. They've been professional and given that little something extra. Simon has an infectious, motivating energy and could handle multiple levels in one class. We loved seeing him, Mary and Martha in their band performing at a VCPA family dance. Martha wrote the whole Creative Music program from scratch and takes us on wonderful adventures singing in parades at the mall, Christmas carolling at the old folks home and performing at A-1 venues. Kristine goes the extra mile informing us of upcoming festivals and contests, staying positive and motivating; even giving little end of year or seasonal gifts to her students. read more

Visionary was recommended to us when we first moved to St. Albert by our neighbour who had kids that went there. My daughter was in musical theatre for about 4 years and had a great experience. She always felt supported and encouraged by the teacher. We liked it so much that we signed her up for piano for about 3 years and that was another really positive experience for her. She graduated from high school and got too busy with university but she said she will go back when she has more time. We recently bought a guitar for our son and signed him for guitar lessons and our son cant wait to get to his lessons every week. The teacher is professional and seems to have the right balance between allowing my son to play music he likes but still teaching him concepts. The waiting room is busy sometimes and its hard to find a chair but we would recommend Visionary to anyone who wants to learn music or musical theatre. read more

Currently taking vocal lessons from visionary college. I find that the teachers are very knowledgeable and friendly. They are there to achieve the best for their students. As soon as I began taking lessons and vocal training I was given opportunities to improve my craft through competitions and events and we'll as with the teacher's guidance. The relationship between students and teachers is very professional and I found that with communication we were able to discover what worked best for me with training and time slots. I am someone who has experienced many challenges including health issues and so, the friendliness and understanding found at the college was welcomed greatly. I would greatly recommend the teachers here for vocal training and any instrument. The relationships made when training begins is helpful and personal when the student shows determination and willingness to learn. read more

Our family loves it here. We've had a few different teachers over the years for piano, guitar and voice but everyone has been exceptional. The space could use a little updating and I think they did have some issues with their admin staff a few years ago but sometimes that happens. The important thing for me is that my kids have always been super happy. They also do a lot of extra stuff with the kids like performances and events. Always seems to be something going on. we like the feeling we get from all the teachers and the other students too. They have a lot of students that are doing well in their performing arts careers, we see them performing all over the place, which is a good sign they know that they know what they are doing. I know they have students that have performed at the Citadel Theatre and have won lots of contests. read more

We have been going to Visionary for 14 years! My daughter started in kindermusik when she was one. Both my daughter and son enjoyed a couple years in Creative Music and in the summer camps. My son branched off into sports however my daughter found her second home and continues to attend. She has taken Musical Theatre, Piano, Guitar and Voice. Visionary has caring and talented instructors and whenever I have had any type of concern thoughout the years my concerns have been handled in a professional and respectful manner. Another wonderful benefit in attending Visionary is the performance opportunities that my daughter has had. My 13 year old daughter has been with VCPA Southside since she was 7 taking both musical theatre and private vocal lessons. She has had a few teachers over the years, but all of them have been great. This last year she was performing a musical theatre number and needed some choreography that was quickly facilitated by an in house instructor in a couple of lessons. Every year I see huge improvements and look forward to what the next year will bring. I have and will continue to recommend VCPA in the future. My daughters have been learning music at VCPA for over 10 years and we have always had an excellent professional experience. We have participated in their baby music, piano, private voice and musical theatre classes, as well as a few great summer camps. We have had many excellent instructors, and my daughter has continued to grow and improve each year. We have also been offered many excellent performance opportunities that I believe are unique to VCPA. They are a wonderful music studio that I would recommend to all. First of all I will tell you about me I'm 59 years old so starting voice lessons was a daunting task.I chose to take lessons with Lillia Krieger. She is an amazing teacher! She has taught me to sing so much better. In all aspects of singing from shaping a note to holding a note,and keeping it locked in . I have gone from a mezzo to soprano .
