Early this morning at 4:04 AM, I stopped in to purchase gasoline . After refueling, I requested my change and receipt. The gas station attendant looked at me as if he couldn't hear me. I repeated myself, and he was very rude and yelled at me for no reason. According to the receipt at the bottom, he was cashier number 7. I'm trying to be polite and said I didn't know you could hear me. He continued to swear at me in Spanish and gave me the one finger salute. I was filling up my partner's tank because she had to go to work in a very short time frame and I used a broken machine, unfortunately. There was no way for me to know that it would try to eat my card, as the screen display was the same it always is. I'm not upset with this aspect of my visit, but I am disappointed at how sexist and rude the gas attendant was to me. First, he didn't listen to me that my card was stuck in the machine. Second, he blamed me for using the machine when it was 'obviously already broken'. I'm sorry. You tell me how you would react if a machine ate your card while you were on a small time frame to accomplish a task. The cheapest gas station is WHERE?!? Years ago, I paid my rent babysitting for nice, rich families in Tiburon, and could never get over the fact that a gas station in MARIN, of all places, had prices that were consistently about 10-20 cents less than the cheapest place in San Francisco. I would wait all week to fill up my gas tank at this Arco. 7 years later, I have yet to see a place within 50 miles of my house that has cheaper gas prices than the Tiburon Arco (OK so maybe it's not technically in Tiburon since it's on the other (west) side of the freeway but that's how I think of it cause it's right there off the 101 by the Tiburon Exit). When looking up Arco on Yelp, I was a little confused as to which of the 2 Arco's in Marin is "the really cheap one" (I didn't know the street name). There seem to be a few in Marin but one look at the map told me this is the one - just off the freeway, after the Belvedere exit if you're heading to SF (on the other side of the fwy is the 'strawberry' shopping center with the Safeway). I just filled up yesterday and gas was "just" 3.09 a gallon (yeah it makes me sick that I'm actually saying 3.09 is cheap but when the cheapest place in my hood - the Arco on Whipple - is 3.19 it gives me a sense of glee to know I just saved ten cents a gallon.) Lines can be a little long but it seems like if your tank is on the right side of the car, or even if you don't but have a small car and can stretch the gas hose all the way to the other side of your car, you're in luck, cause the lanes for people with right side gas tanks seem to be pretty empty. Lucky for me I have a little CRX and it's easy to stretch the hose! And I have to give this place kudus for their renovations. It's huge now, compared to when I used to come here regularly after work. I'm not crazy about the fact that they charge a debit fee, but I just plan ahead and bring cash (yes I am that cheap - I refuse to fork over that 45 cents dammit). This is my go-to spot for gas in the North Bay. It is definitely the least expensive - even with the 35 cent fee to use debit. Though everyone else is on to this spot, the lines move quickly. They say their hoses are long enough so you can go on either side, though I prefer to wait so I can have it on the closest side. Just like the grocery store, pick a line and stick with it - practice patience. Once at the pump, it is very fast. Their card readers at each pump are easy to use, get to the point and are fast to process. Plus, their pumps work quickly. We get good gas mileage whenever we come here, so I am happy when it works out that I am nearly empty when passing by. read more

What do you get when you combine a Costco Gasoline pump with an Arco, two of the cheapest places you can find gas in the U.S.? A Super Saiyan Gasoline Station! Not really... ...but if you venture into Mill Valley near the 101 freeway, you'll see what I'm talking about. A few weeks ago, my girlfriend and I were driving back to San Francisco after a long trip around Point Reyes and we were looking to pump up before hitting the city. The nice thing about Marin County is that, despite the fact that the area is so well off, gas is cheap here... MUCH cheaper than that price gouging gas pump at Point Reyes Station. But we weren't even prepared for what we came across after exiting the Whole Foods In Mill Valley. Right next to the 101 near Blithedale/Tiburon exists a special Arco Station. This Arco for one, has UNGODLY in inexpensive gas prices. I mean when everywhere else in the city/North Bay charges over $3 a gallon, would you really expect a place to hate $2.59. YES THAT's RIGHT ITS THAT DAMN CHEAP. That's even better than what I pay in the South Bay... which is crazy especially when you expect gas prices at stations next to freeways to be expensive. But I guess this Arco is the exception. And with cheap prices you'd think this place would be packed? Nope!!! This Arco blends together what makes certain Costco pumps so good: multiple lanes with three pumps in each. My girlfriend and I came right in the afternoon on a Sunday when people would be buying gas for the week and we got out fast!! I have to say if you are in Marin County and need gas, this is the stop. It's literally next to the 101 and SO convenient if you're driving to Muir Woods or anywhere in the North Bay. I give this place an "omg, id travel two hours for this." Give this Arco a visit because it might as well be a landmark. Cheapest gas in Marin located in a very convenient location right off of southbound 101 in Mill Valley. Gotta love it! The one negative is that it's often times very crowded and you have to wait for a terminal. I commute to work and unfortunately go through a lot of gasoline. The Arco station is a regular stop for me. The store isn't that special, but has the usual products to sell you from a medium-sized store layout. I don't go in the store very often, but when I have, I've received good service. It's always relatively clean and well organized. And best of all, their gas is significantly cheaper than any other station within a 10 mile radius. I did a price comparison today (2/30/15). A gallon of unleaded fuel at Arco was $2.09. Across the highway at the Chevron station, they were charging $2.69. The numbers speak for themselves, folks. Be warned - depending on the time of day, there can be a long line to fill up your tank. This station is very convenient for me coming from San Rafael to Mill Valley every day for work.... I just take the exit and pull in... also the prices are the lowest I have seen in Marin.... Soooooooooooooo why only the 3 stars... well it is because the people who normally visit this station are S T U P I D and can't figure out how to keep the traffic flowing. Yes, this is the cheapest gas in Marin but I'm beginning to think it's just not worth it. Why? Because every time I try to pump gas here the pump doesn't want to work. It is extremely aggravating to try and fill up your tank when the pump isn't pumping right. The man that claimed to be the owner was an absolute ass to me. I simply explained that in this day in age to not accept credit cards and then to charge a fee for using your debit card was lame, he gave me a snarky response stating, "there are signs everywhere".
