I'm giving this place 5 stars for what it is (a brewery where you can hang out, drink their top quality brew and eat whatever you want to bring in), and not for what it isn't (a restaurant). Spacious layout indoors, and two well-fenced outdoor areas made it a great place for kids to roam while the parents chatted over good tunes and good brews. Owner works the bar, and the rest of the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Diverse house brews running from sours, through lagers to ales and porters, all really nicely brewed. Check it out if you're in the area or passing through. (Tip: if you want to stop off for lunch or dinner while passing through, grab some great grub from the Mexican grocery down the street). read more

This was just an out of the way stop on our way to New Buffalo and it was worth the trip! The beer was excellent and the ambiance was open and modern. Took quite some time before we could get service, even sitting at the bar but I was glad we did. I was blown away by the quality and taste of all the beers I tried overall. Very, very glad we stopped in on our trip. Too bad they had no inventory of the shirt I wanted (bummer but they didn't seem to care much), cause I would have repped em elsewhere but hey, the beer was good and I was happy to try it. Love that this place. The beer is amazing, Black Mere is one of my favorites. Their prices are also very good, you get a lot of beer for what it costs. The flights are only $13 and you get to try a ton of beers. The atmosphere is very welcoming and friendly, it has a beautiful patio out back to sit out at around a fire, or play games outside. If you like mediocre beer and terrible service this is the place for you. The owner is more interested in enforcing her own rules and drinking than taking care of the customers. She never bothered to come out and clean tables but felt content to sit and harass customers inside. When closing my tab I was sworn at by the bartender because of the lack of tip. I understand that owners are worried about compliance but there is no excuse for neglecting and harassing you customers. I have been to Arclight many times but will never go back. It won't matter because they will drive themselves out of business quickly. read more

Signs everywhere telling you to wear a mask .... no signs that if you want a beer you have to go to them and no one is going to wait on you or hand you a menu. The bad part is the workers just ignore you. If someone is sitting at a table common curtesy would be to let them know. Not here so lazy they can't even do that. read more

Stopped before the football game. Happened upon this great little place. The brisket sandwich was amazing- great crust and just the right amount of smoke. My son ate two. Was conflicted on how to review Arclight...because in the end, it's about the beer. And working our way through a sampler, the beer was very good, especially the Fire Lake. Atmosphere was cool, no food (no big deal). The problem was the service. Service lacked. We sat at bar (and we were virtually ignored). Understandable if the place was busy. It was not. We are not high-maintenance beer snobs or looking for a tour, but give us something. Hell, be friendly?!? Compared to service at other small breweries...just lacked. My wife and I have both worked retail and it's not that hard. Smile, be genuine, take a break from chatting with co-workers and serve the people who might have stuck around for additional beers. I know beer is why people visit, so they've got that. But service can leave a sour taste. read more

Cool place! Apparently, if you're a brewery in Michigan, you can ONLY serve your own beer... Well Arclight has plenty of delicious beer to choose from! Simple, warehouse type atmosphere, concrete floors and countertops make for a cool vibe... Board games to play while you enjoy your beer, or you can check out the hops garden and the Bocce ball court located out back on the nicely hardscaped patio... Not much to offer as far as food goes, but I saw people bring their own food in--didn't ask but maybe that's a thing they do?? Oddly enough, kids are welcome in the bar type environment, as Arclight actually makes their own sodas as well as beer, which was cool! Anyway, definitely left with 3 growers full of craft brew and enjoying one as I type... Will be back for sure! read more

Just hit up 7 breweries today alone and boy am I glad we saved this one for last. Try the BBA Berren county stout. And the award winning soursmith kriek is one of the best sours I've tried. Craft beer here. Visited with friends recently. Beer was great and the facility in a former auto dealership was very industrial cool inside. Excellent selection of craft beers and root beer and other choices for the non beer drinkers. Outside beer garden which is very nice with bocce ball and a gas campfire. I have one huge complaint about this place, that is not in Kalamazoo!! My husband and I absolutely love everything about this place from the friendly service, the dual patios, the bright & airy feel, and most of all the top notch beers! If it's on tap, you must try the Velvet Elvis (and ask for the "rim-job", they coat the rim in honey and dip it in peanut butter sugar!) and the Snickerdoodle Porter (rim of cinnamon sugar!). My husband loves their selection of sour beers but, too be honest, there isn't a bad beer here. They often have food trucks outside but if not, you can bring in your own food or have pizza delivered. Great new brewery in a place without one, so they should have the territory to themselves. I tried everything they had on tap and thought all were good and some really excellent. They make a range a range of brews, though most are in the IPA family. The stout was the outlier in terms of type and was great. The Arclight Ale was light and delicious. Not the friendliest service but it was a Sunday afternoon. Great atmosphere, amazing beer! I saw one dog inside, it didn't have a service animal vest so I'm not sure if this is a dog friendly establishment. It is definitely family friendly though! Lots of games to keep the kiddos entertained. They have a variety of board games, outdoor bocci ball courts and indoor quarter operated games. They have cashews, pretzels and chips available for purchase and a calendar of food trucks on mostly Saturdays. We were driving through blueberry country, not expecting to find this hip, modern craft brewery in the small downtown of Watervliet. Their beers are creative and delicious. Our group made our own tasting flight by ordering half pours of all of the beers on tap and sharing. Perhaps they could offer individual tasting flights in the future. They don't serve food (beyond bar nuts and cupcakes) but they do have menus on hand for ordering in food from the local restaurants. The interior design of the place is modern, thoughtful, and well executed. I would recommend checking this place out! read more

The beers here are fantastic. If you order a snickerdoodle beer or Velvet Elvis get a 'rim job' -a honey dipped sugar rim goes so well with beer! Definitely worth a stop ... much better than the touristy, over-crowded breweries in Grand Rapids. Arclight is now one of my favorite breweries in Michigan, especially because they aren't yet distributing so it is very special. We stopped kind of on accident after stopping in a nearby winery when they recommended it and boy were we happy. Their beers were great, the atmosphere with picnic tables, lots of board and card games and a few excellent places nearby for takeout food that they let you bring in, you almost can't ask for anything more. Our favorite beers were Hail to the Darkness and Cherry Wit but many were excellent! We will be back for sure. read more

Their beers were pretty good and I loved how big the flights were. I was a little disappointed with their shandy's and outside seating area. Their shandys were beer and homemade soda mixed together. Also, they are dog friendly which I thought was great, but dogs are only allowed in the front patio which did not have much seating. There are only a few tables with almost no shade. It was pretty hot out and little shade for our dog. Wish they had better seating/shade in the front area because we would have stayed longer. It was just too hot for us and the dog. read more

I have never received such horrible service from an entire group of bartenders in my life. There was 1 who was attentive to our group of 12. The other (female) bartenders seemed to think they should completely ignore our entire group. Recently visited Arclight. Drinks and service were good, but we won't be going back. We were there on a weekend night. Walked in and sat at the bar. Bartender took our order right away. After a couple minutes, we kept wondering what that awful smell was. Started looking around and thought we were in a vape lounge. I couldn't believe the number of people smoking vapes. Even the bartender. Someone came in and set right next to us and was blowing vape smoke all over us. We couldn't stand the smell and couldn't get out of there fast enough. read more
