Short Story: THESE PEOPLE ARE CROOKS. They STOLE $4000 from us, knowing what they installed was not going to work and then pretended to try to fix the issue until they finally just ghosted us and blocked my number. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY Long Story: We asked for a Clearview cover for our backyard pergola to be able to use the patio/keep our dog dry when it rains. "No problem!!" they said. We were ADAMANTLY assured that it would be effective despite our concern there was little to no slope on the existing structure. The owner and his son both assured "There may be one to two drips here and there, but nothing we can't caulk to keep this patio dry" --Wonderful! Take my $4000! The first big rain came and there were indeed a few drips. I called and thankfully, they came and caulked the areas like they said they would. Unfortunately it never got better. Even with the smallest shower, our patio was completely soaked, along with my dog. My husband went up to see if there was something he could do and his words were "it looks like a kindergartner was let loose up there". I called after every big rain, begging for them to help us. They would claim to come as soon as it was dry for several days, yet no call back, no follow up, no answers, no nothing. In fact, I called again after having given up for a year (I had had a baby and our dog died) no one ever answered after several attempts. HOWEVER, I called on my husband's phone and they picked up almost immediately. They took $4000 from us, KNOWING that this cover wasn't going to work and then pretended to try and fix the issue until they blocked my number. This is THIEVERY and I will make sure that no one is stolen from them like this again!!! I have given them ample opportunities to fix the issue with no solution in sight. Danny and Ash cannot be trusted. They installed a patio cover at my home late 2020. After the first rain, it leaked. They attempted to repair. The next rain it leaked. I've been more than patient with Danny and Ash in trying to resolve this. They have been evasive and non-responsive through out this process. I have text messages and phone call records to support my statements. I've attempted to file a lawsuit against them. They have denied who they are. Archie's just completed my backyard patio cover and they are in the process of building the outdoor kitchen and it is awesome. Quality of work is great and the people are very friendly. Dan Archie came out when the work was being done to resolve a small issue that needed to be addressed and he did it with professionalism and with a great smile. This gentleman definitely knows his work which is obvious with 40 years of experience behind him. I would highly recommend using Archie's if anyone is considering getting the work done. I set up an appointment to get a bid on repairing our deck. I specifically told them on the phone that this was a repair bid. Dan from Archie's showed up an hour and a half late and then immediately said he would refer us to someone else, as they are so busy right now that they only do new construction. Would have appreciated this information prior to spending afternoon waiting around for them to show up. read more

I called on a Saturday to get an appointment for an estimate for them to build a patio and outdoor kitchen. The gentleman took my information down and scheduled a Wednesday 12:30 appointment. He called 2 hours before the appointment and stated I was too far for them to do business with me. I explained how I took a day off work just to meet him. He said sorry. It's not worth my or his time! Suggestion: use google maps while your making an appointments and save your customers valuable time and money! read more

It took me thinking about this business and the job they did on my patio cover for several years every time I walk out in my patio. In further investigating this job they did I found out that they started building the patio cover on top of the slab way too early before the concrete cured, that's why it started cracking. They pulled one over on me saying that pears needed to be poured underneath to stabilize and level the pad. "I CALL B/S" !!! I should have had them break it up and repour it, that ones one me. Yeah, I'm pretty bitter over the job Archies Backyard Retreat did. I have a right to be ; given the wool they pulled over on me. If your smart, steer clear from this company ! I cringe every time I venture out onto my patio wondering when the cracking will show up. I had to cover their screwup with flagstone but I know deep underneath that slab is cracked. I haven't even mentioned the cedar roof with all the knots in it that leaked once the knots in the wood planks fell out. After my first review they called me asking me to remove my review to which I responded "Not on your life " !! Because it's the truth ! I may be one but I'm sure I may not be the only one. read more

I am currently under contract with Archie's and it has been a nightmare. They cashed my check on 08/30/16 and didn't begin work until 10/10/16. One day they showed up to drop off materials and never came back. Another day they came by to cut wood, said they forgot the hardware and left and never came back. A few days later they showed up and pulled down my gutters to attach a covered patio to my roof. See photo in profile pic. The original wood under my shingles is a shredded mess and completely exposed.They had no business pulling that up. They decided to take Friday off because it rained for an hour around 6am and promised they would return on Sat and Sun and finish the job by Tuesday. They did not show up on Sun, showed up on Monday to damage my roof. Now the contractor doesn't feel well so has not been here on Tuesday (the day it was supposed to be finished) or today, Wednesday. I called the owner about this and the damage and they said they would send someone out to seal the damage for the forecasted rain. It is noon and nobody is here yet. I wish to God that I had read these reviews before hiring them. One post speaks about the knots in the wood used for the cover. It is so true. Knots are falling out of the wood they used. I have two areas where this has happened. In addition to all of this, they cut the beams too short on one side so they used little pieces of wood and nailed them to the beams and directly into my shingles to account for the short beams. I have also had to play project manager to call them to ask them to schedule the concrete vendor and electrician. If you are reading this and have not hired them yet, I strongly suggest that you don't. read more

If you are looking for a company that is responsive and follows up on their stated commitment to make things right, warranty their work, and communicate with you DO NOT USE this company. I have tried for over 4 weeks to get Dan Archie to come out to look at and repair a large broken piece of dura-plast as well as trim pieces they installed 24 months ago on our arbor and as far as I know he has not come out to even look at it. I have called their main number no less than 15 times and never once has anyone answered the phone. It's a shame that all it would take is good communication and a plan for resolution to establish a positive foundation for customers. His customer service is horrible as well as his work. read more
