My mother and I were wanting a nice, quick lunch and she recommended Archie's. The outside and inside is nice and welcoming. They have it cutely decorated with antiques and the tables and chairs are so nice and solid looking. Normally when places decorate with antiques it feels dirty, but they do a great job keeping it dust free and clean. They offer breakfast until 11 and then lunch service begins. Everyone there seemed happy. I ordered a Reuben and I asked about subbing sweet potato fries for the regular, but she was unsure how much the upcharge was. So instead I said "how about subbing for cole slaw instead since they are the same price as the fries, so that should work, right." My mom's side of onion rings was delicious. Perfect amount of crisp and flavor. My cole slaw was watery and eh. The Reuben had good flavor, but the bread was drenched in butter. Way to much butter. Towards the end I knew my stomach was going to hate me later. When I received the ticket, I saw I was up charged for the 2oz of gross cole slaw. When I brought it to the waitress attention she said yes, because I got something different other than fries or chips. I reminded her the cole slaw was the same price as the fries and she did not tell me there was a charge. She called her manager and the manager basically said so what. No where on the menu does it say how much the upcharges will be or if there will be one, even if the side is the same price. I understand upcharges, but they need to be clear and the customer needs to be told when they are going to happen. I educated the waitress on her communication and paid. Guess what? They charge for using a credit card! I had cash, I would have paid cash if someone had told me. Again, what? So basically all the good feels I had at the beginning were gone and I saw Archie's as crooked. I basically feel robbed from. And I called it. I felt gross afterwards and my stomach was/is upset later. Not going back.

Oh my this was really good. The food was excellent along with the waitress, she was very attentive and friendly. The decor is cool too. We had a Reuben o-rings and hubby had fries If I am ever driving through Ava again I'll definitely come back to this place.

This place has great food and never fails to have friendly staff. I do wish that they were open more in the evening.

His hash browns were not from the frozen bag, cooked crispy just like he likes them. Thick Homemade bread was delicious. I had eggs, sausage and a Platter size pancake. It's a lovely drive across the lake, out of the hustle and bustle of town, which we love. A quaint mom and pop feel, with music playing, not too loudly. We were seated right away at 9:00 on a Thursday morning. Our server Lori greeted us quickly and kept our coffee cups warm! Such a friendly lady and she described the menu options so well that she talked one of us into their cinnamon french toast special of the day! Our food was served quickly and was nice and hot. Each item was tasty, and for me, I was very pleased that the hash browns did not have that greasy grill taste! My cheesy omelet was generously filled an made to order, as I prefer mine a little different. The bacon was delicious, a perfect blend of thick and chewy with a bit of crisp. We will definitely visit again!

When you're from a larger place and accustomed to COVID mandates everywhere it's surprising to visit out-state places and find situations similar to pre-COVID conditions. At True 'Brew dining room tables were spread out but that was it for virus precautions. No plexiglass shields at the register. No employee masks or gloves except for the sandwich maker. No soap out. No social distancing signs. My turkey club sandwich was built on wonderful tasting flatbread. It would have been an exceptional sandwich if not for the excessive mayonnaise. Mayo dominated the sandwich. The one napkin I received was insufficient to contain mayo squirting off every edge of the flatbread. Salad, chips, and pickle came with, making the $6.50 price a real value. True 'Brew has plenty of coffee, tea, smoothie, and milkshake options but no colas or bottled water. (Insert sad face here.)
