Awesome Classic burger with fries was a good, juicy, and cooked just right. The calamari and fry combo was delicious and perfect for my kids

I have to say I can see why the rating for this restaurant is mediocre. I'm not sure when they acquired the building, but from the looks of the floor, it looks horrendous (see photo). The customer service wasn't friendliest, but also wasn't rudest either. I decided to sit inside the dining room and the table was really sticky. The chairs are mismatched and so are the booths. it's obvious they try to make the restaurant to be a "trendy" restaurants/diner. $$22 for fish and chips and five dollars for soda... I decided to choose one of the burgers. I know why they charged extra it's because they are literally next-door to the Monterey Bay aquarium where they can charge extra because of tourist. If tourist can go a block down the road, they can get the same, probably even better quality, fish and chips at a cheaper price. I ordered their Hawaiian burger. If you don't mind extremely well done hamburger with an unripened pineapple, enjoy. Originally, I was going to give this place three star rating, however, due to everything I had mentioned above, I'm lowering this place with two star rating. After giving the 10% tip, I'm regretting that decision. Quality of service: C Quality of food: D Price: $$ Recommendation: walk about a block or two from the aquarium For better quality burgers, and even cheaper price.

Some of the best burgers I have every had. Nice staff and great location near the Aquarium with outdoor seating.

Classic cheese burger w/ spread only. Delicious!

Best burger in Monterey if you ask me. If you come during non-peak hours, you can often find the owner cleaning the floors and making sure the place is in tip-top condition. Really appreciate that! Their burger and fries are excellent. My daughter is a pretty harsh french fry critic and she gives Archie's two thumbs up.

    Empty restaurant during busy hours.

    - Owner is immensely rude and immature. - He price gouges you for poor service. - The place smelled like mold and mildew. Message to the owner: - You obviously don't know how to run a business, and the many negative reviews is pointing that out to you. - You wanted to run a business, boss a few employees and not be bored at home. Here is a free advice for you: Sell the establishment, make your money back, and walk away. This location deserves better than you ruining the experience for the general public. This advice was brought to you without a $10 minimum credit card charge for a soda :)

Definitely a tourist trap and should have known to go elsewhere but my friend and I were hungry and he wanted a burger. This was one of the spots that came up that served burgers so off we went. I ordered the fish and chips, and this dish came with three of the saddest child-sized palms of fillets that seemed to have been previously frozen. The fries, while crispy, were dry and needed ketchup just to get through them. Even more embarrassing, this place gave me a lemon wedge that was practically dry. When I squeezed it, only seeds and a couple drops of juice came out. I had to pay ~$27 for just that small basket of food while my friend paid a good amount of money for his burger and fries.

Total for basket of calamaris and basket of garlic fries was $32. Was expecting the basket to be filled, kinda skimpy

This place is rude as heck. Now I understand why there was one customer at the entire restaurant. I wouldn't waste money here.

Archie's is perfectly located near the Aquarium away from the mob on Cannery Row. Great food, great shakes, and great vibes and music.

Food was good. Borger. Bathroom was stinky and tables was dusty. Mustard expired by almost 1 years! Not the same as it used to be.

Good fish and chips, Baja or Tropical versions. Fresh fish, crunchy batter. Very reasonable price. Outside tables are pleasant.

Amazing pizza and awesome service!…read more We met with some family here for lunch and a few beers. Hops and Fog is definitely the local spot to be at, it filled up quickly after we sat down. I ordered a Dark Horse seltzer from Crow and Wolf and three pizzas for the table; the Return of the fun guy (mushroom pizza), the TMNT, a 3 cheese pizza, and the PIzzette karbonara. All of the pizzas were excellent, but my favorite was the PIzzette karbonara. This was such a unique flavor combo a brick over pie with miso carbonara sauce, mozzarella, shaved guanciale (pork), grated pecorino, black sesame crumble topped with runny fried egg. I could not get enough of this pie; the miso sauce paired with pecorino and a runny egg was delicious! They use a blonde or white miso in the sauce and it added a deep umami flavor. My kids inhaled the cheese pizza and everyone loved the mushroom pizza and the black truffle sauce that was drizzled on it. Hops and Fog has a front outdoor patio section and small outdoor back area. It's small inside, but there's a handful of tables, a couch, and booths. Street parking is free, but is only good for two hours.

We were able to reserve a small back patio area for our group, which was perfect since a bunch of us had small children that were better contained there. Service is prompt and the staff is super friendly and helpful. Pizzas are delicious and well made, with great toppings and are fresh and tasty. Prices are a little bit on the higher side. Beers and wines are great - selection is solid and pairs perfectly with pizza and appetizers! Parking along the street adjacent. Highly recommended.

Every Monterey Trip Starts Here…read more I've been making the drive from San Francisco to Monterey for years, and this has become my traditional first stop before heading into town. Instead of rushing straight to Cannery Row or 17-Mile Drive, I like to slow down, grab a pint, relax for an hour, and then continue the trip. It honestly puts me in vacation mode. If you're an IPA lover, Dust Bowl Brewing Tap Depot is paradise. California has hundreds of craft breweries, and I've visited quite a few over the years. In my opinion, Dust Bowl deserves to be mentioned among the better IPA breweries in the state. What impresses me most isn't just that their beers are bitter. A lot of breweries chase high IBU numbers and end up producing beers that are simply harsh. Dust Bowl understands balance. Their stronger draft IPAs are incredibly layered. One sip starts with bright citrus, then shifts into tropical fruit, grapefruit, pine, resin, floral hops, and sometimes even hints of stone fruit. As the beer slowly warms up, the aroma and flavor continue to evolve. It's almost like drinking a well-crafted fruit blend--except everything comes naturally from the hops. That's what makes great West Coast IPA so enjoyable. Whenever they have one of their high-alcohol, high-IBU specialty IPAs on draft, I order it without hesitation. Those beers alone are worth stopping for. Honestly, if you're serious about IPA, don't just order one pint. Try several different drafts. You'll understand why people keep coming back. The nice surprise is that the rest of their beer lineup is also excellent. Whether you enjoy lagers, pale ales, porters, stouts, or seasonal releases, everything I've tried has been well made and consistently enjoyable. Another thing I appreciate is that this place never feels like a tourist trap. Considering you're in Monterey, the prices are very fair. The beer quality easily justifies what you pay, and the portions are generous. It's simply honest craft beer served by people who clearly care about what they're brewing. The food isn't trying to be fine dining, and that's perfectly okay. It's good, straightforward brewery food that pairs well with beer. Burgers, sandwiches, appetizers, and snacks are exactly what I want while enjoying a couple of pints. The staff has always been friendly every time I've visited. Even when they're busy, they're welcoming, patient, and happy to answer questions or recommend beers if you're unsure what to order. Great service always makes good beer taste even better. For me, Dust Bowl Brewing has become part of every Monterey trip. If you love craft beer, especially West Coast IPA, this place shouldn't just be on your list--it should be one of your destinations. There are plenty of breweries in California. There are plenty of places to drink beer. But if you're an IPA enthusiast like I am, Dust Bowl Brewing is one of those places that reminds you why California became one of the world's great craft beer capitals. Every trip to Monterey starts here. And I can't imagine starting it anywhere else.
