This is a great place to have a few beers. The bartender spoke English and was very patient. They carry several of their own beers which are solid and a must try, as well as guest beers. 16 in total including a beer engine which you don't see everywhere. In typical fashion, I had to find a brewery in Italy and had heard great things about Archea Brewery. After a long day of museums and pizza at Gustapizza (which I will post about separately!) we made a stop for a couple of beers from a craft brewery in Florence. Located in a city surrounded by wine makers, Archea Brewery is knocking it out of the park. They are an independent craft brew pub founded in 2012. They have a combination of house made beers and other artisanal beers focused on Italian producers, but do have others from across the region. We had two of their beers, which were extremely flavorful, and two beers from other craft breweries. Nice brewery! It's pretty easy to find. They had three of the beers they brew on tap as well as some other Italian beers and beers from Europe as well. I had a beer with hibiscus and I sampled their black IPA. Both were good. They have some merchandise you can purchase and the bartender was knowledgeable about the area and gave us some local tips, much appreciated. It was a good stop, I'd definitely recommend it. read more

I came here on my birthday and the bartender was very friendly and spoke decent English; he let us sample a few before we even ordered as well. I got the Doppel Bock and the Honey Golden Ale. Both were very good. I saw they had several types of liquors available too, and got to sample a local amaro. Archea brewery is a great brewery with local Roman flavor. It was a little hard to find but definitely worth looking for. Archea Brewery is located in a section of Florence that feels inviting and neighborly. You won't see tourists snapping photos here. Our visit to the brewery served as a nice, relaxing break from sightseeing. Inside, it's dark and small, with just a few bar stools. We stopped in before dinner for a pint and were happy with their wide selection of styles. The friendly bartender let us sample before ordering, which was super nice! I ended up choosing a Tripel (Tripe by Birrificio Artigianale Lariano) but wish I had gone with the Gose (Geisterzug Gose Rhubarb) my friend chose. That thing was SO good! They also had a really nice local sour on-tap by Black Barrels. If you're hankering for a local Italian brew, Archea Brewery is a nice spot to check out. read more

I was looking to escape the Florentine wine scene and stumbled upon Archea. I had been craving a West Coast IPA for about a week, and Archea had a few IPAs on tap. I started with the Hydra, the first IPA on the list. Ok, not bad. This tasted kinda like the IPAs I was accustomed to back home. I tried another IPA which wasn't as good, but this brewery was refreshing. I would definitely recommend this place. The atmosphere was also very casual and laid back. Very friendly ponytail bar tender who spoke good English. Was very understanding and apologetic when his card reader was not working and just let us leave. We eventually found an ATM, but still, it was nice he did not make a fuss about it. If you're willing to take a stroll across the river from the center- this place is definitely worth checking out. The beer is good, the place is nice and the staff is friendly. It's a small place but regardless of the weather- there is an outside area that is covered from the elements with a few tables. They have some flat screens inside which will usually be showing popular games or music videos depending on the evening. It was very neat going to a brewery in Florence, as 97% of our drinking consisted of wine. The beers, however, pale in comparison to US small microbreweries. I frequent many breweries in the states, making it extremely hard to enjoy the taste of the beers at this brewery. The vibe itself was definitely an experience that I would recommend: a big garage door that opens to a few high top tables, walking past the high top tables you will find a dark room where the bar is located. Only giving this brewery a 2 because of the taste of the beers- service was friendly and ambience was an experience. read more

The most taps i've seen Italy, so far (6). We stumbled across this bar, walking around with no aim. The bartender was friendly, offered information about the brewery, in the south, and gave samples of any of the beers available. The movie playing on the tv in the back, however, was VERY strange. read more

Great wee bar with loads of different craft beers, which the bar person was happy to let us taste. We went pretty much every night for a pint or two here when in Florence as we were staying nearby and found each bar person to be knowledgable and friendly. Greatest little discovery on our trip to Florence! After having an amazing meal down the street we stumbled in to this bar. We knew it was love because they brewed their own IPA, had a Swedish IPA that we'd argue is better than most we've had AND they had a bottle of Pliny on their wall! The bartenders were adorable, spoke English, definitely thought we were crazy Americans but seemed to appreciate it. We drank scotch with them and had a ball. Best night ever! read more

This was a great find. As a craft beer fan, you can't go wrong. Tons of great guest taps of all types of beer. Super friendly bartender, and he even has a handwritten list of rare bottles for sale. If you really want to get on the bartenders good side, bring a sticker from your local brewery to put on his wall. The only negative I can say is that it doesn't open earlier. Great craft beer tucked away in the Oltrarno, close to the night time party of Santo Spirito, but on a quieter side street. The super friendly bartender knows his beer and was generous with tastes. They have half a dozen of their own Archea brand beers on taps, but also rotating guest taps like Mikkeller and Toccalmatto. And an impressive bottle selection.
