It is so nice to get together with like-minded parents that just want a place where their kids can play and explore. You yourself get a chance to be in the classroom and help out, play and see all of your kids' friends interact. Soon you will be getting your feet in the sand yard, going to parent meetings where the teachers will give you tips on how to calm your child during a meltdown, and you will talk to other parents and see that you're not alone. Some examples of community that I can think of during our time are the parent meetings, potluck events, a camping trip, and events at school where everyone is welcome for Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. When we had our second child, and EECP knew we were finally home, we got a few gifts delivered for our new baby, but also a couple of big brother gifts and books from the school. When I'm at work and I get some photos sent to our parent group message board of what the kids are doing that day, it makes you wish you were at school that day instead of sitting behind a desk. Those are the times I know that we got lucky to find the EECP and other involved parents and teachers. One other thing I remembered that I enjoy is the stuff that our kiddo brings home. It is not just paintings that will soon be on your fridge or decorated shoe boxes, but also stories and music. Our 3-year-old would come home from school and teach me about Mardi Gras. He insisted on Mardi Gras songs being played in our home. He enjoyed dancing and marching and was explaining how parades worked, as if I had no idea what one was. It was so much fun to finally go to school and see all the kids parade around in fun costumes and carry around little decorated shoe boxes they made in class. This is just one of the events that we've loved as a family and now as a community.

With a tearful eye this week, we informed Little People Child Care that we would be leaving. (no fault of LPCC. My mom is retiring and will be taking on the responsibility) Gloria of Little People Child Care is an angel and a miracle worker. She's one of those people who are genuinely warm and friendly. Are you worried that your child will not eat or nap? Gloria can work miracles and managed to get our baby to sleep and eat regularly along with the other kids. I love Little People Child Care because it's a family run business run in a house. You know she is a great parent with talking to her well-mannered boys. And even though she has so many kids under her care, I can only wish my house was as clean as hers.

They communicate daily and my son binds so well with the teachers. They only employ full time teachers so that students have the same adults all day. They don't shuffle around to maximize ratios. Attached to the message was a picture of my sons face with an extremely large bruise on his left cheek bone. An incident like this warrants more than just a text message from their staff. A phone call would have been more appropriate. Especially since their was a head injury. I most certainly question what their staff is doing during their outside play time, because Ive had multiple conversations / incidences with staff in regards to the little kids playing in the "big kid area" it's clearly not safe for them near there. Unfortunately bc of this incident we are no longer having our son attend Heartprints Montessori. Self-directed activity doesn't mean you let these toddlers do whatever they want and not observe/watch them.

So, we've since moved Little C out of this daycare/preschool. Here are a few reasons…read more 1) One of the teachers was consistantly late (ranging from pulling in the parking lot at 6 to being 25 minutes late) to open the center, which should be open and ready to take kids at 6am. Director told numerous times and left documented on the sign-in sheet. 2) The TV watching. Sigh. Okay, so every morning before the rest of the teachers get there, the TV is turned on and a movie or show is put in. TV every once in a while for a special occasion is one thing, but every morning...No. C would say, "I watch scooby-do mama!?" We limit his kids TV watching to but a few shows, Team UmiZoomi and Wallykazam. So you can guess where he was watching scooby-do. 2.1) TV continued - I walked in one morning to drop C off to see the teacher (funny, the same one that is habitually late), have Nick and Nora's Infinite Playlist on the tv. WAY INAPPROPRIATE to be showing a bunch of children. I mentioned this to the director once. Another time i walked in to see them showing Maleficent. Having never seen the movie, you can still tell it's pretty dark. I talked to the director about it a day later, and apparently PG (maybe PG13..cant remember exactly) rating or less, they'll play it. C had nightmares for the next few nights. The director said, "Oh i wouldnt figure he'd have problems with nightmares." SMH. www.tvguidelines.org/ratings.htm. TV-PG Parental Guidance Suggested This program contains material that parents may find unsuitable for younger children. Many parents may want to watch it with their younger children. The theme itself may call for parental guidance and/or the program may contain one or more of the following: some suggestive dialogue (D), infrequent coarse language (L), some sexual situations (S), or moderate violence (V). 3) Teacher/Child ratios. Little C was 2 at the time he last attended LE. A lot of the times, I'd come to pick him up and he'd be in the room with the older kids (kids ages 3+, including school age). Why? Cause they had too many in the 1s-2s room. I do believe this is against state guidelines. 4) It was discovered C had staph due to scratching all day long at a mosquito bite. Was told the following day by the teacher that he had said he had an owie all day, after the fact. Did she even look to see what the owie was? No. Otherwise she would have seen C's leg was red and swollen from foot to past his knee. Thankfully he wasn't running a fever, or that negligence could have proved disastrous. 5) Most of the teachers there speak broken English. This proved to be the reason why C was not improving with his speech. Are they an affordable center? Yes. But at what price to your child's safety and development..
