Standard thrift store. We were on a road trip and were waiting until our reservation time at the nearby (same plaza) Casa Bonita, so we stopped in to look around. Nice layout and helpful associates working the store. Everything was clearly marked with prices and pink tags were 50% off that day. Just a day before we were walking in the snow in downtown Denver and I made a joke about it being wet wet wet, which is the name of a band that my late uncle used to recommend to anyone who would listen. So, of course, I check the record stacks and BAM - a Wet Wet Wet album is there. Imagine that - all the way from London to the stacks in a thrift store in Denver, CO. And it had a pink tag on it so it was just a buck. Cannot beat a deal like that. read more

I'm an avid thrifter and have visited just about every store in the greater Denver metro area, but I genuinely cannot understand this Arc location. The store is consistently dirty and the pricing is completely unreasonable. Whoever is setting prices seems wildly out of touch. This was a fun thrift store to browse. I'd given 4 stores for the overall store as everything is nicely organized and I found some gems at good prices. However, I really didn't love their no backpack policy. I had to leave my small day pack in the car and walk around holding my phone and wallet which was annoying when trying to shop. Among some good finds here: baking pans galore, Threshold (Target) and Crate and Barrel mugs for a couple bucks, a dressy, velvet blue top for the holidays, and three cookbooks, two of which looked like no one even opened them let alone used them cooking anything. I didn't quite understand whatever sale or discount price schema they have but one of the cookbooks ended up being 50 percent off the marked price. I asked no questions. A few things here made me go hmmmm such as the fact that they had to check whether my $20 in cash was legit (scanning machine at the register) and that on my receipt it was noted "This transaction is subject to a private public improvement fee of 1%". Um, what does that even mean? Proceeds from the sales go to help people with developmental disabilities in Colorado. read more

Ever since this place re-opened the pricing has gotten absolutely out of control. Most dresses are 16-25 dollars now. Two years ago they would have been 6.99-12.99 tops, everything has either doubled or tripled in price, and they get these things for free mind you, and I know they have opened multiple new stores around Denver. Also many items with tags still on priced almost as high or even higher than the original price! They also have started taking out the color tag items before Saturday so there aren't as many things half off- shady stuff. Location: 6791 W Colfax Ave Lakewood CO 80214 If I could give Zero Stars on this store on 3/8/24. The woman cashier Daphane, that was cashing us out had the rudest attitude. Then she will answer you back in a condescending tone. I put my items on the counter. I told the two pairs of shoes are the same and are different prices I'm not sure why. She pulls the cheaper tag off looks at me and said this one is for slippers while holding the tag up and staring at me in an accusatory way . I replied well maybe you should inform your employees on how to correctly tag them. She said well customers change tags all the time. I replied back I didn't do it and I don't need to change the tags at the thrift store.Then her friend was walking by and she proceeded to talk to her friend while in the middle of cashing us out. I was trying to ask her questions on the prices because some of the items were coming up more than 50% off. She had no interest in answering us. She just kept talking to her friend because her friend was leaving and she wanted to walk her out. She cashed us out in a rush and then grabbed the pen off of the card reader to select print receipt. Apparently my husband wasn't finishing up fast enough.Not only did we ask twice for a bag she ran outside with her friend and left us at the register. The cashiers name on the receipt is Daphane, she was a skinny colored woman with black hair. She wore a mask over her face so I cannot describe her any other way. I know the customer before us was having issues with her as well. The other customer would ask a question and Daphane would answer her in a condescending tone as well. I will not be returning to ARC or any location affiliated or making any donations because of this interaction. Not that this will be any big loss to ARC but if you would like to keep your dignity I would not shop at ARC. Also read your receipts. You cannot get a refund to your card they only provide store credit. Daphane not only was rude but looking at the receipt she charged us for $19.99 for each shoe, she did not charge us for a pair of shoes. Now I have no choice but to go back to this store to have them issue a credit. UPDATE 3/9/24 I called the store asked for a STORE MANGER the person that came on was Supervisor B. I informed him of the situation with his employee. He said to come in and he would make it right. When we arrived he did do a refund of the $40. He hand us a give card and implied that this was for our inconvenience. We were under the impression that he refunded to the original form of payment and gave a gift card for the inconvenience. This was not the case. He only refunded to the gift card. I was extremely clear that I did not want to shop or no longer donate to the ARC because of the unprofessional employee. We waited a few days to see if the credit was back in our bank account. It was not. We called the store March 12th asked again for a STORE MANAGER. A woman got on the phone extremely rude, unhelpful and told us that we would need to call back when there is a store manager to resolve it because it is out of her hands. She very rudely explained that we did not talk to the STORE MANAGER when we came in that day. My husband asked will the store manager be able to help or should he call corporate? She very rudely said to call corporate. How is a customer supposed to know who is who when you're specifically asking for a STORE MANAGER and they put a supervisor on the phone....?! How is a customer supposed to know when the store manager is supposed to be in if the supervisor doesn't tell you. Also why can't the money be refunded to original form of payment when it was an employees mistake...? Especially in this situation. To my husband and I we feel that this is a form of theft and forcing is to shop in a hostile environment. The women employees are out of line and are NOT WILLING to be PROFESSIONAL or helpful. We put in a complaint to corporate through email and over the phone but are still waiting on a call back. read more

As I hold a pair of lulu in my hand for $3...... I ask her you are really trying to up the price on a $30 pair of leggings when the one in this hand was purchased brand new for $120 I ask her why they keep doing this and she gets mad and starts talking in tongues, I tell her you lost a customer. Not only did you loose a customer but you as a company should evaluate the way you are doing business. March 4th 2022 between 5:00 and 7:30 p.m. I was shopping here. While I was shopping here I could hear the White women employees one was watching the door and the other one was the cashier that was so loud at the front of the store yelling at customers saying are you going to pay for that? Are you going to pay for that? It was so loud and so rude and so uncomfortable and it scared all the rest of us customers. I've never witnessed such disgusting behavior! If you're going to accuse people of stealing can you at least be quiet and not scare the rest of us? I'll never be back. There was a girl weeping in the parking lot because they had accused her of taking something because she had two jackets with her and she offered to show him her purse and they wouldn't come and look! My wife an I have been here twice now, and both times have come away with some nice clothes at very good prices! We are both losing weight like crazy, and therefore spending $4 on a pair of jeans that will be too big in a month feels better than paying $40. :) Last trip I came and found three really nice "dancing" jackets for $4 each, and with the Saturday 1/2 price sale you really cannot beat what you get for how much you pay. It turned out that I paid more to dry clean the jackets than I paid for them. The store needs more try-on booths, better organization on the racks, and more men's shoes in 13 EEE, but all in all well worth our trip from Boulder! read more

If the parking lot is any indication, then it seems that in the current economy that being thrifty is the in vogue thing to do and is just as popular as being "green". My apologies Kermit, I'm not meaning your kinda green. I don't frequent this location often enough but it does seem that every time I go in the floorplan has been moved around again. I usually go in with nothing in particular to be purchased, but with the idea of "I will now it when I see it." And I usually come away with something at a really good price, usually from the clothing department but I do like to give the store a good walk through. Today was no different and I did come away with a nice Italian wool sportscoat in great condition for about what the price of a gallon of gas was back in the summer. And at the same time I got to help out those in need of our help. You cant beat that! read more

Love this store, although some of the items in the kitchen section were a little to pricey (saw them in another thrift store for much less). That said, Sis and I again found some treasures in clothing, and a cute pillow I now have in my car, not to mention a great purse, and shoes. As in any thrift store it is hit and miss. "It smells like armpits in here", that was the first impression my 8 y.o. son had when we walked in here. We came here after eating at that Casa Bonita shithole. It pretty much rounds out the perfect ghetto date. I've been to several ARC stores, but this one really is something else. The whole place feels like the third hand gear of a second hand store. All the stuff people had collected at other second hand stores re-used and then re-donated to this place. At the other ARC's, my gf can usually find some Italian shoes she can buy to list on ebay and resell, but not here. The high end used shoes are still Walmart brand. The bikes look like they were picked off a freeway offramp, the clothes look sad and tired. Some of the customers looked as if they were only borderline sane. I would have at least expected some of the area pimps would have donated some purple leopard skin hats or jewel encrusted walking canes, but no. No such luck. Maybe in this area this isn't a bad thirft store, but it's not one of the better ARC's. read more

This ARC is huge and better organized than most. Generally a thrift store is a thrift store is a thrift store, and the only way they can gain bonus points is for A) not smelling like a thrift store, B) having cooler/cheaper stuff than a thrift store, or C) going above and beyond the thrift-store-call-of-duty. Well, this one smells like a thrift store. Their stuff isn't particularly cool or amazingly cheap. But... they get an extra star because when I asked Mr. Thrift Store Guy whether the partially-smeared price on that Perfect Kitchen Table was $39.99 (a bit too high) or $59.99 (way too freakin' high), he out got a new price label and wrote it out for $29.99 (just right!) without me even having to ask! Also, he didn't insist that I take the crappy chair that came with it. We just needed a table... not a single crappy chair, even if it did sort-of match thanks to a really bad spray-paint job. read more

This ARC location reminds me of Marshalls because it often looks like a bomb went off inside it. The stale smell and staler clientele are a turnoff, but that being said, the selection of junk (I mean STUFF) here is impressive. I have had great luck here hunting for ugly Christmas sweaters, picture frames and books and have stumbled upon some really unique glassware and other random housewares. The staffing is, of course, inadequate and as a result, the place is often a shambles and the check out lines are always long. I'd stay away on Senior discount day (unless it benefits you directly) to avoid the hordes of bargain-hunting blue hairs. read more

Hands down, the best thrift store in Denver! I've come here a few times already, to look for halloween costumes and gaper outfits. I am happy to say I've always found what I'm looking for and I got a dress for my zombie outfit for a whopping $4. They have 50% off price tags every now and then and the last few times I have been able to take advantage of the extra discounts! I got a sweet onesie for $10 that I can't wait to show off on the mountain soon. This place has a better selection and is more openly laid out then the S. Broadway location. I have shopped here on a few occasions and typically its a simple shopping trip looking for unique items to decorate with. My recent trip was for Halloween costumes. Everyone that has made their Halloween costume knows that it's a lot of searching for the right items and every now and again you'll find something better at another store and have to return a few things once you're costume is complete. I managed to get all of shopping done in a course of a weekend. Starting at this store on Friday. I originally purchase a leather jacket here and later found a better one at another store. I came back to return this jacket about 5days after the purchase and this is when things hit the fan. I never received a receipt but kept the jacket with tag in the bag. Returns are pretty simple at least I thought. Since I didn't have my receipt they were initially not going to honor my purchase. So I asked Sean the manager to go ahead and look at his camera footage showing the cashier not handing me a receipt. After he took offense and made a snarky comment- extremely unprofessional being the manager- he then stated the purchase was over 10days old and could not honor it on that basis. Again I said you can go look at your camera footage and see that I was here just the past Friday. After a bit of back and forth with me pulling the card out for the original purchase and asking politely to just look it up in their system or I can show the transaction on my statement. He decided he could only give me 50% back. I was tired of arguing with a pathetic manager who was clearly enjoying what little bit of authority he has. So I accepted the 50% back which also had to be put on to a gift card for store credit only. So thank you Sean for wasting my time and yours to just give me store credit for something that your store got for free as a donation. I will be sure to contact President and CEO Lloyd Lewis to personally let him know one of his employees is tarnishing ARC Thrift Stores Mission and Good Name! read more
