Pros: I normally find cool things, it's huge and fun to walk around, book section is huge, if I need something I can find it here about 72% of the time. Cons: I've seen workers walking around collecting the "tags of the day" so you most likely won't find on sale items, security is kinda weird, no dressing rooms sucks especially since you can only return for store credit, prices are getting kinda crazy I love thrifting and most of what I own is secondhand. Completely Humiliating Experience -- I'll Never Go Back I've been thrifting since I was a teen and have shopped at the Broadway & Ellsworth Goodwill for years, spending around $100 or more each visit. I've always loved finding great deals and supporting the mission -- but after my last visit, I'll never go back. While shopping, I was placing items into my reusable bag (something I've always done at other Goodwill locations without an issue). The male security guard suddenly snatched my bag and began yelling at me in front of everyone, accusing me of trying to steal. I was shocked and tried to explain, even showing my wallet, but he just kept raising his voice. It was humiliating, and I left the store shaking and in tears. To make things worse, one of the female employees told me to "meet her outside at seven," clearly threatening to fight me. I couldn't believe it -- that's not just unprofessional, it's dangerous and completely unacceptable behavior. No one deserves to be treated like that, especially a regular customer doing nothing wrong. This experience left me deeply hurt and embarrassed. I hope Goodwill management seriously looks into what's happening at this location, because the hostility and aggression I experienced were far beyond anything that should ever happen in a community-based store. read more

I frequently shop here, however, for this to be a second hand store these price are astronomical. As I was checking out there were some Nike sweats I had in good condition that didn't have a tag. When I got the register Jackie (current manager) priced them at $20. I understand profits need to be made, but that's too close to retail prices. Honestly pure greed if you ask me. There are other items I have bought and once I got home, realized they still had retail stickers on them. They are overcharging by $2-3 dollars on items you can find new elsewhere. I would love for corporate to address this issue. The Aesthetic of shopping at thrift stores has driven prices up when the main mission of the company should be to give the less fortunate a chance to get necessities. Crazy that there are no dressing rooms. If you purchase something so that you may try it on at home, store credit is the only return option. If you force costumes to take something home to try on an item, you should offer a full refund. OR you should have dressing rooms so that customers can actually try an item on. Clothing is wayyyy overpriced here. For just a few $$ more, you can get brand new clothes. I'm not even talking about name brand items- like lululemon, north face, etc; it's literally EVERY SINGLE clothing item. I found a $9 shirt from SHEIN here, which is probably the price the person paid for originally. My other gripe- if you aren't going to have dressing rooms open; at least make the return policy to refund, of the original form of payment. They only give refunds in the form of store credit. If prices were lower and very reasonably priced, then I can understand the store credit refund. But to loose out on, sometimes $30, just to get store credit is ridiculous. read more

The nicest Goodwill I have ever been to--and I have been to many. Loved the window displays and had to stop by while walking by. Everything was organized, tidy and decently priced. If I wasn't traveling from out of town I would have walked away with a tent, sleeping bag, frisbee, and shoes. Couldn't fit a haul like that in my carry on. The finds are great and the prices are unbeatable, but the employees are pretty nasty every time I'm there.

I don't feel like this Goodwill wants customers. They have now locked their bathrooms and have signs that say no public restrooms. Even if you go to the store weekly and buy several items you can't use the bathroom with the amount of workers in that store I'm not sure why they can't have someone unlock the restroom like other businesses in the area. This week on several days they are blasting fans/AC all the poor workers are walking around in coats, and beanies. I could barely look around because it was colder inside than the outside. I would hate to see how Monday was MLK day Denver was -9 to -15. We shop here weekly and it has been pulling away from customer service, and the last two things just adds to us not wanting to shop here. Please give some of your inventory down the road to the other Goodwill so that we can shop there comfortably. Lines are long, shoes are dirty and clothes isn't that great of price. They do get a lot of inventory so this is why we have been stopping by but might start skipping this store read more

I've always loved this store for its wide selection of items. But what's gone downhill is the fact that they no longer let you try on anything, but they won't give you a cash refund if you take it home to try on and it doesn't work. I just left 20 items at the register because that was a deal breaker for me. A simple solution is to just open up the dressing rooms again. read more

I was someone who has come to this location weekly since I moved here. You have to be careful now because they don't allow you to try on clothes inside for one and for two this is the second time they have rang up an item twice. Today it happened to me and the manager is saying i cannot get my cash back only store credit. She also would not let me get her name after I requested it. She finally gave me a name "candy". Used to love this store but it seems to be going down hill, staff don't seem to be informed on policy or care. You can't return furniture no matter what they tell you, we were told there was a 24hr return policy then 12hrs later when we realized it didn't fit our place and brought it back they told us we can't return it. I also tried to buy a bookshelf a while back and they told me it was not for sale, they then sold it the next day. I know they don't care that's clear but it just sucks, they've lost a customer in me. read more

I hate it when I go to a thrift store, and I have to sort through a hundred pieces of garbage to find a decent item. Not a problem here. This store changed a lot for the worst, the far back wall was recently painted to a dark blue which gives the store a depressing vibe and their electronics display used to be good but now is nonexistent and electronics downstairs are cluttered and unorganized, management at this store are rude and they lack accountability for themselves. Tip for management ... please put someone in charge who is able to organize the clothing section of the store. Here are some suggestions: - use colored size labels to easily organize and separate small, medium, large, etc. - organize children's clothing in ANY way ... right now, it's a free for all, and an absolute disaster - the women's clothing section is completely unorganized ... put sweaters together. Vests together. Tshirts that are cotton together. Etc. you can even organize these by color. Also, there are SO many pairs of shoes and clothing items that should be in the garbage ... they're old, way too used, and not worth keeping on the floor. Finally, you need to stop arbitrarily putting prices on clothing. ALL tees should be the same price, all jackets the same, all pants the same, etc. Your team that does the pricing has no consistency. I normally love going to Goodwill because I always find amazing items at great prices. I found the prices today we're fair but I was rather disappointed on senior day. White tickets were 50% off and purple were 30% off. I literally found only one white ticket while looking through 400-500 items in the clothing and shoe departments. I have witnessed employees pulling items that are going to be on sale and then have come back on a sale date to see the items have been retagged with the current non sale color. I know that Goodwill does a lot for the community however if you're having a sale with white tags and there's only one white tag among a huge number of items then something is definitely wrong. There were plenty of purple tags but as I said only one white tag. I only found this situation at the Denver downtown location on Broadway and hope that once they see this review they will make sure that they're not changing tags out so that you cannot get items on sale. As a senior I really appreciate getting a discount; it may only be 15% but every little bit helps. When general items for everybody are 50% off then you should be able to find enough of the color tags for that sale in the store. read more

I bought a snowboard here in December and when I went to get it tuned up, the repair shop told me the board was broken. I went back to Goodwill to try and exchange but the manager Patrick said tough luck without a receipt. Him and two other female employees asked me to produce a credit card statement, which I did, then they still said no. Three employees went back and forth before telling me I was out of luck. One even started to lecture me about how she never goes to return anything without a receipt. She told me the board shouldn't have been on the floor because it's broken, but I also shouldn't have bought it because it's broken. Get off your high horse and have a little compassion. I just lost $60 on a board the employee admitted shouldn't haven't been on the floor in the first place, yet they wouldn't issue me a refund. I will never shop or donate to this Goodwill again. read more

TON OF SELECTION! And the layout is pretty organized. I always come out with a good find or two. The dressing rooms have been reopened recently but there's one attendant in particular (Teresa) who reaaallllyyyy doesn't like working in the dressing room area. I've had two unpleasant encounters with her and they both were a huge mood kill. I needed some assistance to get a room open and she was called over the intercom. She comes walking up and says to me "I can't walk away for a second" in a way that showed she was annoyed she had to come back and let me in. She really doesn't want you bringing in a ton of clothes to try on (which understandable, that's fine) but after thoroughly explaining this the first, the second time I came back to try on some clothes she goes "do you remember the rules" in this very snarky tone. My boyfriend has also had an unpleasant interaction with her. There was no attendant at the dressing room but there was an open room so he went in. When he walks out she's standing outside the door and goes "I didn't know you were in there" huffs and puffs and then rolls her eyes. Overall the selection is pretty good but stay clear of Teresa and her attitude. read more

This is my favorite Goodwill. I'm here at least bi-weekly and consider it an important part of my cardio routine. I think the central location means that they get the most diverse donations so you can find designer goods and dollar store items right next to each other on the shelf. The volunteers and staff are friendly and I live having conversations with them about the random things I find and trying to figure out what theu were originally supposed to be. I've had a lot of luck finding work clothes here and furnished multiple apartments throughout college and my current life from this store. Take your time and you might get lucky and find your favorite thing with a $.99 tag on it (on half off day!) read more

Remember when you could actually score cool, cheap shit at a Goodwill? No? Well, you young whippersnapper, back in MY day... Yeah. Back in the day. Before it became trendy and hipster-esque to shop for retro stuff at your local thrift store, Goodwill was actually a fun place to go! Rad dudes and dude-ettes such as myself could find funky vintage tees that were awesome without containing even in inkling of irony. Worn-in Levis could be bought for less than $5. The grooviest of mod 70s gear was even cheaper. Polyester abounded, and it was all available for the change you could find under the cushions of your couch (um... also bought at the Goodwill, for a cool $20-spot). Real-life poor people shopped there too. Not just the "college-poor" like me. Real-life poor people COULD shop there! They could afford it! And then it all changed. Levis were the first to go. When word got out that you could trade a used pair of Levis for a Citroen car in Prague, the price of Levis skyrocketed faster than oil during an Iraqi Invasion. Gone were the cheap, broken-in 501s. Even if you could find a pair amidst the acid-wash, pleated-front nightmares, you wouldn't be paying less than $20 for them. Criminal. And then came the hipsters... oh, the hipsters. When they caught on to what the rest of us had been doing for the last 15 years, they really screwed up the thrift store equilibrium. And not just for the "college-poor," this time... but the for the real-life poor as well. Why? Because when word got out that it was "kewl" to shop at Goodwill ("I posted it on my MySpace page, which I only have ironically, you know..."), Goodwill raised those prices up, up, up. But, of course, only for the cool shit. Or the ironic shit. God forbid you might want to search out some sweet costumery for, say, a Trailer Trash BBQ you're throwing this weekend. You'd THINK you could find yourself some really awful crap at the Goodwill for a couple bucks' trouble, right? You'd be wrong. You'd be especially wrong if you happened to hit up the brand-spankin' new Goodwill in the middle of the Baker District. If you want a good laugh, head into this Goodwill and check out some of the prices... and then remember that they got this all stuff FOR FREE because somebody else DIDN'T WANT IT. This has to be the biggest Goodwill store Ive ever been in. Despite its large size, and the amount of business it was doing, the store was clean and well organized. The downstairs contained all of the furniture and other large and bulky items, the upstairs had mainly clothes, knick knacks, housewares, shoes, etc. and a cool little book area that looked like a small town cafe. Many of the clothing items were like new and very well priced, I dont think I saw any clothing item above $5. This Goodwill store is a great benefit to the downtown Denver area. read more

A two story goodwill can't get any better than that right!?! This place is super organized for a thrift store and for a goodwill!! The people aren't so friendly as a woman associate bumped into me several times and never once apologized or said excuse me...but the Texan I am, I just smiled and kept it moving. Upstairs is clothes, shoes, housewares, books, odds and ends along with some furniture in the store front. Downstairs is where you can find more furniture, new mattresses, rugs, and other odds and ends. We didn't quite find what we wanted but I did find a nice treasure to take home. It was a boho style runner that's just gorgeous!! My wife also found a couple pairs of pants from the loft for work. Pants that typically would cost $20-$30 for one pair only cost her $15 total. A prime spot for poppin' tags and ballin' out on a budget. If you're at all into thrift/second hand shops, this is a very solid one here in Denver. This is probably the biggest Goodwill I've ever been to, complete with two separate floors and a giant parking lot around back. Prices are cheap cheap cheap--you're not going to find a ton of high end stuff here, but they've got a decent selection of things you can upcycle. Here's what I come here for: + Kitchen supplies + dinnerware. I used to throw *a lot* of dinner parties and found this location great for cool vintage glassware and decent quality kitchen items. + Furniture. Don't sleep on the basement which is packed full of chairs, end tables, etc! Skip anything with upholstery and look for items you can wash, sand, repaint, etc. + Music and instruments. We've gotten some pretty decent $1 records here and it seems like pianos come and go fairly often. They've also got a ton of stereos/speakers if you're willing to take the risk on it working. + Clothes. I'm an impatient thrifter when it comes to clothes--there's just a lot to sort through and I like to try things on before buying them. That being said, there are tons of clothes for both women and men here and I've got to think there are some promising items. Make sure to check out the men's section if vintage tshirts/crew neck sweatshirts are your thing. read more

I recently moved to this neighborhood and have found it difficult to find parking since my building does not provide any spaces. A friend of mine told me how great Goodwill was and that they usually let people park in their lot. I started parking there overnight and no problems for 2 weeks. In good faith, I even went in and purchased $250 worth of furniture and items from this store so. I got to know some of the staff as well because it's that kind of neighborhood. This morning, I'm on my way to work and wouldn't ya know it, my car is gone. I go inside and ask to speak to a manager. After waiting a while, a greaseball guy with a ponytail tells me that my car was towed because they don't allow overnight parking in the lot. He was a total ASSHOLE! I asked him why they didn't give me at least a warning note and he says, "because we don't have to. It's posted that it's a private lot." So why was I able to park there for 2 weeks with no issues? This POS manager decided that today is the day to tow my car. No sympathy to the fact that I am (or now was) a regular customer there. So after paying $240 to get my car out of tow, I am telling people to avoid shopping at this place because there is no ACTUAL GOOD WILL from their management. As a General Manger of a retail store myself, I am appalled that this dirtbag was so rude, disrespectful and heartless. GOOD RIDDANCE GOOD WILL! read more

One of my favorite places when I used to live in the area. I came in to check out the selection because I happen to be in the area. This is a huge location. Two floors... lots of books, furniture, clothing, home stuff. I usually focus on the name brand clothing for a fraction of the price at retail stores. It can be a hit or miss whenever I go to a thrift store, but it's the thrill of the hunt for a great bargain and you really can find quality stuff here. I got a few summer tops and shorts before full on Spring/Summer is here. Although this location seems more expensive to me compared to other Goodwill locations, I'm not complaining because I got name brand stuff like Banana Republic, JCrew, Ann Taylor, etc. If you come, make sure you have ample time to look around.
