I'm not saying she needs to be entertained but you can at least be friendly, pretend that you like kids and try to smile at the very least. That's why I'm very happy to have found Orthodontex. From day one they've gone above and beyond and we couldn't be happier. The staff is wonderful and friendly. Brooke is adorable and always has a sweet smile on her face when you walk in. The office itself is beautiful with plenty of open, comfortable seating. They even have a Keurig with different coffees, teas and hot chocolates! While examining my son's mouth, she identified a tongue tie that had been missed by his dentist, pediatrician and speech therapist for 14 years. As a resident-trained orthodontist, her expertise in both traditional braces and Invisalign along with jaw growth modification is what gave her the knowledge to truly see the root cause of my son's issues. My daughter had fast braces done by her dentist, but it took three years and they still couldn't get one of her teeth to align properly. I should have brought her to an orthodontist like Dr. Sample. Speaking from someone who has done it both ways, I can confirm that orthodontics is very specialized and should be left to the orthodontists. Dr. Sample explained everything thoroughly and clearly, including why certain treatment options would work best for my son's specific needs. She was also willing to think outside the box for my son's jaw growth problems, including referrals to the proper specialist for oral-facial therapy and tongue tie release. Uses techniques to avoid both pulling teeth to make room and surgery. As an adult, I have to get surgery and wish I had done so as a child. I am an adult patient (44) and my 3 children (13, 16, 17) are also patients. Dr Beaber explains everything so well and helps with so many random things that are outside of expectations. (Breathing techniques to get rid of a migraine, laser treatment for cold sores, etc) It's been 6 months and my entire smile has changed- the SHAPE of the arch (due to the Damon braces) is most astounding. He's helping me get the best upcoming jaw surgery care, gives the honest truth even when it's hard to hear. His office staff is fantastic. My child received an expander and a Herbst appliance. Unfortunately, we did not see the results we were expecting. We had ongoing concerns about her palate width and lower-jaw position during her treatment, and have ultimately decided to transfer her care to another orthodontist. One of our biggest concerns was the level of orthodontist involvement during our almost two years of treatment. We rarely saw the orthodontist at our appointments, and most of our visits were with an orthodontic assistant. At our appointments, we did not see the orthodontist check the orthodontic assistant's work after either the expander or Herbst appliance were installed. When my child's Herbst appliance broke on two occasions, both times the orthodontic assistant removed it and replaced it. We did not see the orthodontist check the orthodontic assistant's work after it was reinstalled. When the appliances were finally removed, glue was left on my child's teeth. We were sent home with it still on her teeth and had to make an appointment with our dentist to have it removed as it was affecting her bite. Another concern we had was that we did not receive post-treatment measurements after either the expander or the Herbst appliance were removed. As a result, we were not provided with objective measurements showing what changes, if any, had occurred as a result of the treatment. Based on our experiences with orthodontic treatment for our other children and my wife, this was very different from the level of orthodontist involvement and oversight we have experienced at other orthodontic offices. We were also surprised by the office's current Phase 1 fee of $4,590 for an expander, which is substantially higher than comparable fees we have personally been quoted at other orthodontic offices. Overall, we were very dissatisfied with our experience and ultimately decided that our child would be better served by transferring her care to another orthodontist.
