The Bodega is a trendy, upscale market in downtown Greencastle just off the Square. They sell some…read morelocal produce and other specialty items such as herbs. The shop is somewhat sparse. There is a wall of cookbooks. The clerk is super friendly and gave us the background on the various farms that the featured gourds and pumpkins were grown. I purchased a French blue gourd. Prices were on the high side. They sell breakfast and lunch sandwiches (daily specials). Cold assorted salads are in a fridge for take out.

I'm writing in reference to Lindsey L.'s insipid one-star review of the Bodega…read more She states that she "should have been paying closer attention to the menu because [she] didn't recall it saying mayonnaise was on the breakfast sandwich." Well, "mayonnaise" wasn't on the sandwich, nor on the menu. "Dijonaise" and aioli were on both, however. All Lindsey and company had to do, which is all that anyone has to do at any business establishment, was go to the counter and ask for either a refund or a custom modification to the sandwich. And yeah... reading the menu--written in big letters and hanging on the wall--helps too. As someone who doesn't have to drive "about 40 minutes" to go to the Bodega, I'm super thankful that it's here. It's a blessing for those of us who have been thankful for ALL the businesses who have brought a new bit of life to our community. At the end of the day, people like Lindsey should be taken with the half-grain of salt they're worth. She wants you to think that the folks at the Bodega went out of their way to ruin her day. What we actually think is that she opted to announce to everyone on Yelp that she's petty and selfish. She didn't bother to read the menu, didn't ask questions, and didn't take her grievances to the store. Instead, she fired off her editorial opus and punched "one-star" because, in her world, if she's inconvenienced or made angry, then something has to burned to the ground. The Bodega is wonderful. Five-stars. People such as Lindsey are why Yelp can be awful.

Made an out of the way stop to try this place for coffee and a snack on our way home from Cataract…read moreFalls. It wasn't clear what their hours were: the website said they were open until 4pm, while the hours posted Google and on the door said 2pm, and here on Yelp it says 3pm. They also had a paper sign taped to the door saying they would close that day at 1pm. Fortunately we made it there a half hour before closing, but it would probably be a good idea for them to sort that out across the various platforms. I ordered a latte with praline syrup which was nice (the cups and lids were kind of the best I've seen at a coffee shop, which is random, but worth mentioning) as well as a bagel and a donut. The donut was a chocolate long john and I asked the person taking my order if they were filled or unfilled. They said unfilled, which is what I wanted, but when I got back to my car, it was filled. My husband went in to place his own order, so he purchased another normal chocolate frosted donut and it was fine, but I would have been bummed if I had been on my own and gotten the wrong thing. My bagel was good and my husband enjoyed the coffee and pastry he ordered, plus my reject donut. ;) Looks like it'd be a nice place to stay and enjoy a meal or do some work, as there was a whole separate sitting area upstairs.

Anyway, walked into the cutest shop with wonderful employees ready to serve. Ordered a wonderful tasting espresso to go and a couple of donuts for the road back home. Tried the sprinkle birthday cake donut and a regular yeast donut. There were many options for bread choices and saw a large open space upstairs as well as a good amount of seating downstairs. Appears you can watch the bakery working while sitting as well, which is a nice add to any cafe/coffeeshop. PROS: Space is large and inviting Friendly staff Easy parking across the street or on the street Cake donut was great, needs a few more sprinkles but great Coffee taste was great, had a double espresso so definitely tasted the coffee Breakfast sandwiches were on the menu, did not try, but great option CONS: Yeast donut- depends on what you like. It is a thicker yeast donut not the light and fluffy I can eat 10 at a sitting type of yeast, but the taste was good HIGHLY RECOMMEND STOPPING INTO THIS ONE STOP SHOP!

My husband and I stopped in here last Saturday after eating brunch at Brunch Bird a few minutes…read moreaway. We planned to make an afternoon of it since it's an hour drive to Greencastle from Indy and stopped in at Lost Hollow for some beers before stopping in at a local antique shop and then heading home. It was the perfect way to spend a rainy Saturday afternoon. I'm not sure if they have a parking lot or not because we parked on the street. We were seated right away and our server was very sweet. It was very empty inside, just one other person sitting at the bar. Later on, a few more tables filled up with people coming in for lunch. My first beer was the Duke Lager and my husband got the Little Jeff Hefeweizen. We both really enjoyed them! Crisp and cold and refreshing. Their food menu looked really good too, but we had just eaten before coming in, so I would love to come back with friends for lunch or dinner and some beers. I ended up ordering a 2nd beer, the canned pumpkin imperial ale, and it was very rich and delicious. My husband thought it was a little too sweet, but I love pumpkin ales and loved it. The inside is spacious with lots of plants in the windows and a big stage, so I'm sure they get busy when there is live music. The bathrooms were big and very clean. They have a bid deck out front with comfortable looking patio furniture. We honestly would have sat outside even though it was a little bit chilly if it hadn't been raining. Highly recommend driving to Greencastle and supporting some of their local businesses before or after enjoying some delicious beers.

The outside covered porch was perfect on a hot day with a good breeze. I had the Cubanish Sandwich with some really good pulled pork barbecue and the chips were homemade and old fashioned! Really good. And the beers were tasty on a hot, move-in-day! Found a new place to hangout before and after DPU events! Highly recommend!
