I wanted to give Les than one star ONLY - for the coleslaw that my wife and I received 11-2/25. I…read morewant to tell others that the pizza is pretty good! The fried chicken is really good! The potato fries are pretty good, but don't box them together to go for 20 minutes. Too soggy. If you get the delicious chicken and French fries, leave the top open. AND - WE ARE probably the unfortunate ones to receive the most horrific tasting coleslaw we have ever not wanted to enter our mouth EVER. It tasted like the absolute bitter core of the cabbage with disgusting fish sauce or sea weed. I love fish sauce and sea weed as an ingredient in Asian food. However, WHO in the HECK approved this mixture? I never had coleslaw minced that fine, and that would have been an amazing difference, but my wife and I spit it out immediately. THE PIZZA IS really good. If we received - 2 - coleslaws at the same time that you are proud of, then I'm sorry you didn't get that nasty feedback before my order. But I might ask for a sample taste the next time. Just in case there was a mistake.

Kitschy, yes, but despite that the food is genuinely spectacular…read more Bratwurst was super flavorful and cooked perfectly with a caramelized outside, a good snap, and a moist inside. The pretzel bun was heated appropriately and had the right amount of flavor. The optional spicy mustard is really powerful. My only possible complaint would be that the spatzle were a bit on the soggy side, perhaps overcooked. That said, the spatzle also come with an incredible sauerbraten gravy. My only regret, really, is not having had dessert.

Atmosphere is fun, it really embraces the German decor (saw a review or too calling it kitschy, in a good way, which I think is a fair description). Service is friendly and attentive (and in the costumed German garb to keep with the themes). Lots of classic German dishes (several schnitzel varieties, brats, spatzel, etc.). I won't say anything I've had over the years blows me away, but haven't had a bad choice either. The Wiener schnitzel I had most recently was tender and tasty, with a perfectly fried batter, and the German fries were nicely crisped on the exterior and beautifully seasoned. Good beer selection (including some brewed for the restaurant), reasonable wine list...love that you can go all out and have your beer in the classic giant boot! Small gift shop as well, some souvenir items as well as some candies and food options.

If you have the time to wait, not a bad out of the way stop with big portions and decent prices…read more I read some good reviews so we gave it a go. It took them almost 30 minutes to get us our food. This is like a home cooked meal, so maybe that is not too bad if you are not in a hurry. I got the meatloaf. You can get steak, chicken, or fish at about every restaurant like this. For me, I always like to check these kinds of places out by their meatloaf. I mean you can do a lot with meatloaf. Here it was pretty good. It had some unique spice to it that I could not put my finger on get on. I could taste black pepper with something. While I enjoyed it, the more of it I ate, the stinger that flavor was and it was just a tad too much for my liking. The green beans were fine and nothing fancy. The mashed potatoes were really good and the brown gravy was good, but I did not care much for how they tasted together. The potato recipe was really good, but it did not pair well for me. My wife had grilled salmon and loved it. She had a baked sweet potato side, but it was not fully cooked. Overall it was an ok experience in a small town for home cooked meals. I'd probably give it another try if in the area again.

The rave reviews plus the suggestions from locals sent us to this out of the way, but worth a trip…read morecafe. We used GPS to navigate here and found it in a residential neighborhood. The gent doing landscaping outside said the ribs on Friday were the best around but for Thursday, try the liver and gizzards... hmmm, I looked up gizzards and passed. Instead I had fried chicken, hot and juicy, with the best-in-the-world coleslaw and fries. Wonderful. My friend had a tenderloin sandwich, which is a misnomer. The meat was 3 times the size of the bread so he used fingers, knife and fork... making yummy noises as he went. We enjoyed the bottomless ice tea ... very good, clearly homemade. We left room for pecan pie ala mode and it arrived still warm. Excellent crust too, rare on this road trip. An easy five star rating and well deserved for this gem of a local find.
