My brother and I were eastbound on I-64 and decided to take the Ferdinand exit to look for some local eatery and Homestead Pizza was a good find. We ordered a 16 inch thin crust pizza with our choice of toppings. There were other good choices on the menu, and the menu was a good value for the customer. I forget the name of our server but she was very good and attentive to our needs. Our pizza arrived pretty quickly and it was really good. Kudos to this business, they seem to have a good customer base in this small town. What else can I say about a pizza joint. If you are in the neighborhood you would be crazy to go anywhere else. I wanted to give Les than one star ONLY - for the coleslaw that my wife and I received 11-2/25. I want to tell others that the pizza is pretty good! The fried chicken is really good! The potato fries are pretty good, but don't box them together to go for 20 minutes. Too soggy. If you get the delicious chicken and French fries, leave the top open. AND - WE ARE probably the unfortunate ones to receive the most horrific tasting coleslaw we have ever not wanted to enter our mouth EVER. It tasted like the absolute bitter core of the cabbage with disgusting fish sauce or sea weed. I love fish sauce and sea weed as an ingredient in Asian food. However, WHO in the HECK approved this mixture? I never had coleslaw minced that fine, and that would have been an amazing difference, but my wife and I spit it out immediately. THE PIZZA IS really good. If we received - 2 - coleslaws at the same time that you are proud of, then I'm sorry you didn't get that nasty feedback before my order. I wanted other people to know that I have always enjoyed going to Homestead to pick up a pizza. You have the option to pick up your pizza unbaked and for us and our busy schedules that is something that sometimes works best for us. The staff is friendly there and the restaurant is clean and the manager seems to be doing a good job with this restaurant. If you have not had the opportunity to visit this restaurant in the small town of Ferdinand please go there and I am sure you will be pleased. Technically, this should be 3 1/2 stars and I would have rated it higher if the inside was nicer. However, the food was really good and that's what counts. We had a pizza with sausage and pepperoni and loved it. The crust reminds me of our local bowling alley and is a crispier/crunchier crust. We also had breadsticks and those were good too. My advice to the owners would be get new seats and freshen up the decor. I would have given this a 4-5 star rating then. When in the area, we will definitely keep this place in mind. It's worth the short drive from Santa Claus. Oh and by the way....if you're deciding between here and Frosty's Fun Place...go here, not there! read more

Solid pizza place in a town with admittedly not a lot of options. The crust is kind of mediocre, but the sauce was awesome and they have tasty toppings. Sausage is the crumbly type. The breadsticks are good with a nice dusting of course salt on top to amp up the flavor. Besides pizza they also have stroms, though I didn't try those. The other reviewer, Jonny S., is my husband. While I was at Homestead recently, I saw his review, and it caused a certain amount of chilliness in the air. I love Homestead pizza. It's not my FAVORITE Dubois-county-style pizza (as I call it now as I've traveled more and more), but it's my 2nd favorite. I always try to get a visit in when I'm in town. I find the crust to be perfect. It has flavor, but just yeasty goodness like it's supposed to have. It is thinner, but sturdy and crunchy enough to handle all the toppings. Crumbly sausage! Yum! Though not as spicy as I like it. The sauce is good, fresh, and flavored mildly enough to add to but not detract from the overall flavor experience. Decor is simple, though they updated it a few years ago. Service is prompt, but simple, and they have a salad bar, too. Breadsticks are so tasty, and served with any manner of sauce you could want - garlic, cheese, marinara... I miss you, Homestead! Come to Dallas with me! We stopped in for a late lunch around 4 PM and shared a sandwich since it was so close to dinnertime. It's a simple little family restaurant, but it's extremely clean, friendly and the food was freshly prepared with quality ingredients and excellent in every way. It's exactly as advertised and for what it is, deserves four stars. We were traveling, so we ordered our sandwich for takeout and though we live in Florida would definitely recommend it. read more

I didn't expect this kind of quality in such a rural setting. The pizza was excellent, with the sauce spiced just right, not too sweet. The beer (alloy) from Tin Man Brewing Company was exceptional. And the service was great, friendly and sincere. I wish I was local but I will make this a regular stop on my drive to Kansas. read more

The pizza is AMAZING! The sauce takes it away. The toppings are great. I would highly recommend anyone in the area to try this place, it's pizza is the greatest.
