I decided to get a pastrami and a pulled pork sandwich to go. The kid behind the counter actually heated up the two meats in a pan, I thought that was a nice touch. The lady was very nice and served it to me with a smile. I got 4 elk burgers to grill and I have had two. They are kind of gamey in a nice way and super lean. I will add some salt and pepper to it when I grill it up tonight. I might even add a slice of pepper jack to add a little fat to the meal. It went well with a nice side salad and some zucchini sticks. This place was a great small town meat market and there was a vegetable stand in the parking lot and I got some great cherry tomatoes.

Unfortunately, this visit was a disappointing experience at what is normally a stellar restaurant. We called ahead and made a reservation for five people. When we arrived, we were told they could "squeeze us" into a four-person booth and place a chair at the end. It immediately brought to mind the famous Seinfeld joke about knowing how to take a reservation, but not how to actually hold one. Mother's Day was the entire reason we chose to dine out, making it a special occasion for our family. Once we received the menus, we realized the restaurant had significantly limited the offerings, and our mother's favorite dish had been removed. When we asked if it was still available, the server responded, "We didn't want to burden the kitchen tonight." That answer was especially disappointing given the occasion and the expectations we've come to have for this restaurant. To make matters worse, the service -- which is usually one of the highlights of dining here -- felt awkward, inattentive, and well below the standard we've experienced in the past. As we were leaving, our mother quietly commented that it might be time for our family to find a new regular dinner spot. That was honestly the most disappointing part of the evening.

They were clearly understaffed with only 2 young workers trying to keep up with quite a few people coming in plus the drive through. You can't expect your staff to do a good job under those working conditions. We know this store can do better.
