From start to finish, my "fear" was put at ease. Dr. Truong and his staff are extremely calming. He communicated with me throughout my procedure, which kept me level headed. I would love if I could give this place zero stars. Families with younger kids, watch out. This man has no bed side manners and almost had us walk out with by sons tooth had pulled out. He was inpatient and it was a terrible experience. My son (8) was barely complaining, only a natural reaction to the procedure. I really just want to save a child from this traumatizing experience. Love the dentist, but his office staff is completely incompetent and unhelpful. I called to schedule a cleaning and went back and fourth with the receptionist letting her know I was not sure if I could make an appointment in less than 24 hours, but she convinced me to schedule so I did. The next morning I found out I was for sure not going to be able to come in. I was told I'd be charged $25 for canceling within 24 hours. I could totally understand if I had scheduled this months out and was calling the morning of, but I literally scheduled less than 24 hours. Stephanie attempted to tell me that they made a special appointment for me because I said I needed to be seen immediately. When I told her that was completely untrue because I was coming for a simple cleaning she said she was not wrong and that there was nothing she could do. When I asked if she would speak with the dentist and see if he would waive it she refused. Unfortunately I will be taking my business somewhere else since the office staff can't get it together. For years I have let the office staff and their unprofessional behavior slide because I love the dentist, but I can no longer take it. read more

I did not have work done but I appreciate Dr.Truong as a dentist, he actually took "real time" to listen to me, evaluate and approach the issue. Best part; we talked in an office setting not just in "the chair" where its easy to feel uncomfortable and rushed. I do recommend this office, even for a second opinion.. read more

I have had several procedures with Dr. Truong since my last review and they continue to be excellent. I'm especially impressed with how careful he is, even if it sometimes means he has to redo work. For example, he was very thoughtful and cautious with some of my work to avoid affecting healthy/untouched teeth. I so appreciate that he took the more conservative approach at first and was willing to replace anything that didn't pan out. He could have easily drilled into a healthy tooth or referred me out for an expensive procedure before trying to work with what is there. He is always very upfront and clear about what is happening and why he's taking the steps he is so I have always felt respected and in control. I've already recommended Arboretum Dental to all my friends because I simply can't imagine better dental care. Going to the dentist isn't fun but Dr. Truong and Alex make it such a supportive place that I feel comforted knowing I'm getting the best quality care from great humans. read more

my brother clued me into Dr. Truong when i needed a second opinion about a cavity and crown my dentist at the time said i needed. even though i live in houston, i wanted to make sure about the expense and pain i was about to incur and i trusted my brother's opinion. so i made an appointment and drove to Austin. it was a worthwhile trip because it turns out i didn't have a cavity and didn't need a crown on that particular tooth. that sealed the deal for me and am now a regular patient.... in fact, i got back from my 6 month appointment this week and had 3 crowns put in that i'm sure i needed. i won't say it was completely painless but i was able to get 3 crowns put in in just one day. no waiting 2 weeks for the crowns to come back from the lab and now, 2 days later, i'm pain free and the crowns fit perfectly. i highly recommend dr. truong based on his integrity and skill and i drive 5 hours roundtrip to back that up. read more

This review is long overdue - Arboretum Dental is that Dentist Office you've been looking for. I was spoiled growing up with a dentist who was extremely kind, knowledgeable, and essentially part of the family. As I grew up and left the nest - I was left to seek out my own dentists and let me tell you - it's hard to meet that caliber of professionalism with the "family" feel. I also had a traumatizing experience with a different dentist and was very discouraged about the integrity of some doctors. After moving to Austin and doing extensive research Dr. Truong seemed to be the most promising. AND WOW! Does the whole team deliver on every aspect. Dr. Truong is always the one to work on me and the assistants are equally as skilled, kind, helpful, efficient, all of the things you could want. I love going to the dentist again! I couldn't have been more impressed with my recent visit to see Dr. Truong and his team at Arboretum Dental. I stumbled up the location while shopping at Restoration Hardware in the Aboretum. I happened to see his sign and was immediately impressed by how different it seemed to be from other dental offices. When I made my appointment, the office staff was so nice and accommodating ... they took the time to really understand my needs and scheduled me accordingly. When I arrived at the office I was immediately impressed with the decor and ambiance. It was incredible. Welcoming, vibrant, and so so so cool. Dr. Truong was so kind and went above and beyond. He let me know that his primary concern was to treat me with care and excellence. Everything is new in the office, the technology was incredible, and I was so impressed when Dr. Truong told me that my best interests were his primary concern. I called them yesterday. The girl on the phone wouldn't look up my insurance info. She insisted I make an appointment and then they will look up my info. I think it's a scam. Once you make the appointment and you don't like what they offer you will be charged a appointment cancellation fee. I called the guys down the street and they looked up all my info and told me whet was covered. Definitely shop around. read more

The staff and the doctor here are as good as it gets. I didn't realize how good dental care could be until I came here. Compared to my old dentist, that didn't even deserve a review, I feel way more comfortable here, and like my treatment is more important than how much money they can get out of me. ! ! ! FIVE STARS ! ! ! I have never had a better Dentist in my whole life. I went based off a review from a Facebook friend. So glad I went. Dr. Truong was like no other dentist I have seen. Unlike other Dentists I have been to Dr. Troung takes the time to sit down with you before going into the chair. It was much easier to talk about what I was there to accomplish sitting in an office vs. sitting in the chair. I have since recommend him to all my coworkers looking for a new dentist or ones that haven't been in a while. He doesn't make you feel bad about having to get work done. I would like to tell everyone my experience with , Arboretum Dental. I think it is better to know detail than to just see stars and a sentence or two by it. ---To start off I have not been to the dentist in years! This was my first experience since I was a little kid and we all know as kids when our parents would even mouth the word "dentist" a shiver would run down your spin and all bets were off, you'd be kicking, screaming and crying all the way there. So for years I have been putting off going to the dentist because lack of funds and lack of available time, but if I were to be honest with myself it would be because, as a child, I still get that little shiver going down my spine. But my boyfriend told me that I needed to be an adult about it, and like any other rational adult I told myself I would go when the universe sent me a sign, lol, obviously not taking myself serious about it, hehe. A few weeks pass and I am cashing out one of my customer and he hands me two red business card. A few minutes later I look at the card and read, " ARBORETUM DENTAL", and the name on the card said ,"Henry Truong, DMD". At this point I am thinking to myself, "stupid universe". So I called my boyfriend and told him and said, "If I am going, so are you!!". I called and made the appointment for the both of us. I missed my first appointment and had to reschedule and the lady I spoke with was very nice about it. My boyfriend, Erwin, went to his appointment first and said he really like the place and he really like Dr. Truong. When it was time for my appointment I was nervous and it even crossed my mind to play sick so I wouldn't have to go, but I said to myself now or never, I even made Erwin come with me to my appointment, lol. And I really have to say, not missing that appointment was dang near one of the best decision as an adult that I made so far. Everyone at Arboretum Dental was very welcoming and kind. I was still nervous but not so much anymore. I talked to Mr. Truong before my xrays and felt very confident with him and his ladies after that. Everything in the office is very very VERY clean! I have been to dental offices with friends before and they looked very questionable. This place by far is the cleanest office I have been to. When I was getting my xrays, the lady was very patient with me, I talk alot so there where alot of readjusting to do, lol. Once the xrays where done, Dr. Truong went over each one and explained to me what I was looking at, then went over the treatment plan with me. Then it was time for my teeth cleaning, which I found out how sensitive my teeth were to cold water, which is not fun. Dr. Truong was understanding and went a different route to clean my teeth, which was amazing, I had a few stains that I thought would never come out but he got them out, yay!! After we were done, I went to the font desk to check out and schedule my next appointment. ----My next appointment came around and I was a bit nervous about the numbing shots, so Dr. Truong gave me something to relax me, which was very nice. I had my filling done and then made my next appointment. ---- All in all it was not what I had expected, It was better, way better. This is an amazing place with an amazing Dr and staff. Great dentist office. The staff and dentist care more about the best interest of the patients and do not try to sell unneeded work or procedures. I have had a crown, multiple filings, and a wisdom tooth extraction here. All prices were fair and I felt no pain during the procedures. I recommend this office to friends and co-workers often. The location is great and easy to get to. As long as I live here, this will be my dentist. Overall, a FANTASTIC dentist and team!!!!! read more

You will not find a better dentist in Austin than Dr. Truong. The office is spotless and comfortable, everyone on the staff is kind and helpful. They go above and beyond to make the dental visits anxiety-free. Dr. Truong does a great job of explaining procedures and easing any worries. He even takes the extra time to go over the importance of daily flossing and kicking late night soda habits with stubborn teens. I had a very good experience here. This was my first visit and I had a cleaning, X-rays, and an evaluation. Everyone is friendly. Dr.Truong is very thorough and explains everything very well. This was easily the best cleaning and dental experience I have ever had. Instead of walking back to an exam room to immediately get started, a tech took me back to Dr. Truong's office. He quickly introduced himself, gave a brief personal history, then asked about my recent dental history. After, a tech took state of the art images of my teeth (xray's plus digital), then Dr. Truong did my cleaning himself. I couldn't believe it. It was anything but the standard 5 minutes you get with a dentist after a hygienist cleans your teeth. Afterward, he took out some models and my pictures, and went over what he saw tooth by tooth. Keep in mind I had no cavities and this was a completely normal cleaning - so you know this is just how him and his staff do business. Everyone was extremely polite. The office is immaculate and was equipped with state of the art equipment. I left thinking - there's no way I will ever go anywhere else.
