She could not go back to assisted living, and they not only charged her for the 20 days left in the month, but also a full extra month for extra care she never even got, plus they charged for a month of the apartment she never got to truly live in. You do not get any of your "community fee" reimbursed either (in the thousands). The apartment was emptied and cleaned well before the first of the following month, so they had plenty of time to rent it out again. If this place says they are all about elderly people, shame on them. They basically bilked my mother out of thousands of dollars..she's 93 and on a fixed income. Buyer (renter) beware!

We selected Gencare Lifestyle (GCL) Federal Way, because of their reputation, focus on caring for the whole person (body, mind, and spirit), and the quality of the team! Our mum was initially reluctant to try GCL due to all the changes in her life (especially the death of her beloved daughter and my sister, Pamela), but the residents soon learned of my mum's loss and rallied around her. Mum is now in PEAK, the memory care unit of GCL, led by Director, Rachael Payne. Rachael is the consummate professional and dedicated to knowing everyone on her team and every resident in her care. Rather than use drugs to manage challenging residents more easily (as some other assisted living facilities sadly do), Rachael, Nicole Malchow (Assistant Director), and the PEAK nurses and staff, figure out how to meet each resident where they are, and then leverage creativity and the "patience of Job", to create a respectful and engaging environment so my mum and her fellow residents can enjoy a health span more equal to their life span. In addition to Rachael and Nicole, I'd also like to thank publicly the GCL PEAK and Assisted Living nurses and care professionals, Nicole Courville (Wellness Director), Jordy Schow (Culinary Director) and his team, Valinda Horstman (Community Director), Michele Christenson and Ariana Diaz (such welcoming Concierges), and Angelo Abela (an experienced hospitality GM who cares about creating an environment where the team and residents can flourish), for their love and service these last 12 months to our nearly 96-year-old mum.  It's been an incredibly challenging transition for several of our family members; GCL has been there for us! I highly recommend GCL Federal Way!!

I decided to reach out to Caycare, Lisa Doyle, for guidance on Memory Care facilities in Federal Way. She provided me with a few adult family homes and a few assisted living facilities to look at. I looked at all of them and was really impressed with GenCare Lifestyle Steel Lake in Federal Way. I had a tour with Valinda Hostman who was very knowable and understanding of my situation and I told her I want nothing but the best for my father. Of all the homes and facilities, I took a tour of I chose GenCare Lifestyle of Federal Way. The Peak Memory Care facility is a secured facility. It has a couple of large common area verse very small common areas of other facilities. I couldn't put my father into a shoe box facility as I knew he needs a large space so he didn't feel confined. The outdoor space was much larger than the other facilities for the residents to go outside in a secured space to walk the path or sit in the sun. The rooms are shared but very large giving each resident plenty of space to call their own. The Peak Memory Care area is very clean, organized and well kept. There are many activities daily for the residents to participate in along with snacks throughout the day. I have had a couple meals with my father and the food is very good. The best thing that I like is the staff run by Rachael Payne, Director of Peak Memory Care, they are so caring and loving with all the residents. All the staff care about each resident and spend time each day with them. It's pretty amazing to see so much love from the staff towards the residents. It's like one big happy family there. They are very supportive with the family members knowing what they are going through. I couldn't have chosen a better place for my father, I feel he is in a very safe environment and well taken care of. The love there is just amazing. I'm so happy to have chosen GenCare Lifestyle of Federal Way for my father. In addition, I felt that the monthly room & care fee was fairly priced verse the other facilities. I would highly recommend GenCare Lifestyle of Federal Way Peak Memory Care facility for your loved one.

I began the difficult process of researching memory care facilities. After touring many facilities, we found Aegis Living of Kent to be the best of the bunch. The staff is amazing, the flow of their facility is wonderful and their apartments are much nicer than any of the other properties I toured. They have have fun events for residents and their families, they have their own bus for group outings. Their secured outside grounds for residents is beautifully maintained (my mom loves to be outdoors when the weather is nice). I valued finding a facility that is fully focused on memory care, and not a hybrid property where you have both assisted living AND memory care and the staff rotate between both. At Aegis Living of Kent, the entire facility is focused on memory care, so the staff is experienced in this area. I highly recommend Aegis Living of Kent if you are seeking a memory care facility for a loved one.

I worked closely with Courtney during the summer of 2024 after my 95‑year‑old mother suffered a fall and needed to transition to assisted living. My mother deeply valued her independence, and this was an emotional and difficult time for our family. From the moment we arrived, Courtney and her staff demonstrated a level of care, compassion, and professionalism that went far beyond what I ever expected. Courtney is extraordinary. She made sure my mother's needs were always met -- not just physically, but emotionally. She ensured my mom felt seen, valued, loved, and genuinely cared for every single day. Her leadership sets the tone for the entire community. Kyle is a quiet angel -- always present, always attentive, always making sure things get done with kindness and humility. His gentle presence brought comfort to both my mother and our family. Every staff member under Courtney's leadership reflects the same high standard of care. Their work is not just a job; it is clearly a calling. Their compassion, patience, and humanity shine through in everything they do. When my mother reached the end of her life, the team worked seamlessly and tenderly with hospice. They guided her, and us through her final days with grace, dignity, and love. They helped usher my mom into heaven with peace. Our family will never forget that. I cannot recommend Fountain Court, Courtney, and her entire staff highly enough. My wife and I live in the largest independent living apartment (3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, 1810 sq ft) and we require very little support so I can't comment on negative comments made about catered living, memory care or health care. We have not used any of these facilities. We continue to be critical of the food and service in the dining room during our one meal a day. While the food has improved somewhat since we moved in, many of the dishes are bland and boring and the dining room is perpetually short staffed. The young (teens and early 20s) servers work hard but there are not enough of them and they are by no measure professionals. The pay is not good enough for that. There is a curious difference in the food service options between different accommodations. Independent living arrangements not attached to the Gardens building are not required to have a food plan but they can pay by the meal if they choose. Gardens Building residents cannot drop the plan. At one time I explored trying to get out of the 1 meal a day plan but that option was not available. In reality, I don't want to cook 7 days a week even though I have a lovely kitchen. Everything I have said in prior reviews still applies. The dining room service still earns a C and the health inspection grade is just "Good" a value that has not changed since we got here.
