Our entire nursing and care staff are AMAZING. You can see the genuine love for their jobs and the residents. Raena, our Community Relations Director, truly cares about the people that she brings in. She is thorough and makes sure that a prospective resident will be the right fit at our community. If she believes that we cannot offer them something they need, she will help them find another place to go instead. That shows miles of integrity, to me. Our residents touch my life on a daily basis. I can come in to work with an empty cup and leave overflowing. You just feel good when you walk in the doors. There is something in the air here. I would be honored to have a family member, or loved one, live here any day. This is truly a magical place.

I was impressed by the staff's quick responses to emails and their patience with us as we floundered around not knowing what was going to be best for dad. Shout out to Jodi and Ollie, who took us on many re-tours and answered all of our questions. I especially wanted dad in the memory care at Chateau. It seemed like the right place for him. We were ready to move him in and our lives took a shart turn and he did not move in. But, our experience with the staff and their concern for what was best for dad needed to be acknowledged. I watched him interact with the Residents and everyone had a smile on their faces, well except for a few that were sleep The Private room was a tad small, no bathroom in the room just a closet. The way The Cottages are designed remind me of when I went to school and we had a few Portables outside the main bldg. There are four Portable/Bldgs. The staff was very nice and answered all questions that were asked. I can't elaborate on the Quality of Care. I'm sure they provide excellent care to all Residents.

It's been great getting to know them. There are so many fun events and classes and activities to get involved in here! I've been enjoying the watercolor painting class immensely as well as the writing class. Both have been getting my creative juices flowing. The food is delicious and the head chef changes the menu every week so it's wonderful to have variety. There are many more activities to get involved in and you can join anytime. She could not go back to assisted living, and they not only charged her for the 20 days left in the month, but also a full extra month for extra care she never even got, plus they charged for a month of the apartment she never got to truly live in. You do not get any of your "community fee" reimbursed either (in the thousands). The apartment was emptied and cleaned well before the first of the following month, so they had plenty of time to rent it out again. If this place says they are all about elderly people, shame on them. They basically bilked my mother out of thousands of dollars..she's 93 and on a fixed income. Buyer (renter) beware!

Both are dealing…read morewith health and/or memory issues and it was time to move to a safer environment, but one that still afforded them the lifestyle they enjoy but had the care needed when/if their health issues progressed. It was really hard for them to leave their home of 25 years, but after touring the community and a week or two adjusting to their new environment - they were sold! They are so happy in their new home at Merrill Gardens Tukwila! Shane, the general manager, is absolutely amazing! He is kind hearted, patient and understanding. My parents both adore him. In fact, they love all the staff - front desk, sales, events director, nurses, servers, cooks, housekeeping, etc - everyone is great, kind and helpful. My parents love the food in the dining room and also enjoy the option to cook their own breakfast because the kitchen in their apartment has a stove. Another perk, the outdoor patio has beautiful views of Mt Rainier and the Green River with lots of seating and garden boxes. My parents walk the Green River trail daily as it is only steps outside the front door of the community. Other items: My dad gets his hair cut and my mom her nails done at the salon within the lobby downstairs. Live music once a week during dinner. Activities - games, gatherings, etc. Great apartment - full kitchen, good views to green river, large bathrooms, nice modern design with large windows Beautiful lobby and dining room - modern and feels like a hotel. Ability to tailor nursing needs for each parent - medication assistance, extra checks, etc. Thanks all - it has been a great new chapter for my parents!
