Husky, a smaller and caring agency, recently came into a very challenging situation with a frail very elderly couple, and despite their resistance to accepting outside care, Husky has completely won them over. Unlike some other care agencies that i've worked with,Husky not only comes in and provides a free consult with a care manager, they CONTINUE to have the managers monitor and communicate with the family and the healthcare team. Care managers Jennifer and Kris have been stellar in this way, and have found the most amazing caregiver, Michael, who visits them 2x weekly, each for 4 hours. They do it all, from driving the couple to errands and MD appts, to an outing at the lake, to meal prep, to light housekeeping, to personal care for our hospice patient. They are not the cheapest agency out there, but there is a real reason for this: quality caregivers, and a hands-on collaborative approach, My agency has no affiliation or relationship with Husky or any other agency, but i did feel it would be helpful for those who are seeking good safe care to give it a go. :)

Words can't describe enough how appreciative I am for the family that runs this facility…read more My mom moved into BLCC in the middle of March following brain surgery to remove a large Glioblastoma (terminal brain cancer). Since moving into BLCC she has received phenomenal care, though to me, there is something else they provide that is valuable beyond words. My mom is nearing end of life in the coming days. Over the past few months as the cancer has again spread and impacted her quality of life, she has incredibly hard days. She's been scared, angry, confused, and every single day the team at BLCC has made every effort to give her as much support and love as possible. Other AFH's may offer similar level of physical care, but I don't feel any other home could have made my mom feel as at peace as they did over her final few months with us.

Upon meeting with Dr. Dhar, she was exceptionally welcoming and professional. Throughout my entire visit I could tell that she was genuinely attentive to all of my issues and never once made me feel rushed. She took her time to examine me and was thorough with her questions pertaining to my injuries. She even went the extra mile to check for issues that may have been consistent with those injuries. Dr. Dhar's bedside manners were of a superior level, and her concern for her patients wellbeing is something so comforting and extremely rare. It's refreshing to know that you can ask her about any health concern and not feel uneducated or ignored. Needless to say I left her office having absolutely no other questions left unanswered, and that is so important when you don't have time to constantly worry or make multiple visits. My only advice to the patient is to speak up! If something feels wrong, say something. Doctors are not mind readers. Make a list before the visit if you need to, and Dr. Dhar will address all of those concerns.
