I moved my dad up to Washington to live near me in October 2020 after he had lost his wife a year…read moreearlier. I was immediately taken with the beautiful grounds and walking spaces at Aegis of Issaquah, the friendly residents, the courteous staff, and delicious, healthy, inventive meals, a must for my dad. We chose the most beautiful room, with a view of the lush grounds, and my dad able to regularly greet bunnies, deer, and songbirds at his spacious windows. It has been over 4 years and Aegis has helped provide a wonderful home for my father and place for me to visit. Aegis helped navigate extremely difficult moments during Covid to keep my dad safe and keep us in communication. They have seen my dad at his best and worst, through mood swings, physical and mental changes, and medical procedures, and helped him navigate the most difficult stage of his life with patience and grace. I have been as impressed with the permanent staff, including Fabia, Chulida, Lanny, Buki, Jackson, Kelvin, and Danielle, as the 24-7 temporary staff brought in after his surgery. Martha, Christina, Ashlyn, Carly, and Brooke have also been fantastic at keeping spirits happy. They even let him host a screening of one of his favorite films and introduce it to the other residents. Aegis has always kept me in the loop and been immediately responsive to my needs. The director, Shannon Sheron, is an angel. Gifted at working with residents with dementia and other ailments, she is also extremely practical when it comes to making a multitude of difficult decisions. She helped give my dad all the freedom and independence he has needed while being sure to keep him safe - not an easy balance. He has been able to enjoy the proximity of all that Gilman Village and nearby wetlands have to offer. My dad and I have enjoyed these sacred bonus years together and Aegis could not have provided a better place to make that happen.

Amazing facility with wonderful, caring staff in both assisted living and memory care. A top-notch…read morecommunity for seniors where they can live productive, fulfilling lives with people who truly care.

I have been part of the Bellewood community for over a year - and it has been life fulfilling. A…read morekind and accepting community, new and engaging activities each week, varied, excellent food - it is everything I had hoped to have. This is a place for independent living, and some residents hire help to assist them during the week. This may seem small, but I delight in being in a place that is all flat - no unexpected steps.

My folks moved into Bellewood nearly two years ago, and it has been a great place for them. The…read morebest thing is the community. The staff and the residents are all very supportive. Everyone on the staff seems to know each resident, and have personal connections with the people who live there. Residents range in age from their 70s to over 100. There are movie screening rooms, music performances, community meetings, a pool table, a regular bus for shopping and errands, etc. You can do as much or as little as you want to. My mom was in a group that took a watercolor class away from the building, and they got the community bus to take them to and from class. It is convenient to I-90, on the Sammamish plateau. Note that this is NOT an assisted living facility. This is for people who are self sufficient but don't usually want to bother with cooking. One meal a day is provided, in a very pleasant dining room, and very light apartment cleaning once a week. That means a good meal with friends every day, and the vacumning and dusting are done (bed made too if you want). Beyond that, you do whatever you like to do. When my dad was diagnosed with cancer & was in and out of the hospital, everyone there was very supportive of both of them, and of me. When he died my mom and I were able to provide hospice in the apartment, and a neighbor would check in on her way to lunch to see if my mom wanted her lunch brought to her. But the staff cannot and will not try to provide any medical assistance. There are fancier places being built in the area, but what makes a community work is the people, not the counter tops and carpeting. Living at Bellewood is putting spring in my mom's step and adding years to her life. If you or someone you love is in mid to late retirement and wants to take it easy and just do the fun stuff, check it out. Bellewood - Retirement Living 3710 Providence Point Drive S.E.
