The hiring process was very quick and smooth. Everyone Ive had an interaction with has been kind, no issues whatsoever. I definitely recommend as a place to start. read more

The most recent caregiver that I hired decided to turn off his location and clock in early, before he was at my house. He wasn't good anyway, he couldn't even fold clothes. He folded them inside out and he must have thought I was a fool because he only folded a few clothes and placed them on top of piles of clothes. read more

I don't know how they stay in business. Unfortunately other agencies haven't been better. First Chouce has a high turn over rate with employees in the office, so there can be confusion and miscommunication. Most of the caregivers they have sent shouldn't be in this line of work. It's a shame that many of them don't view this as "a real job", because they work in people's homes and their boss isn't watching. read more

Bad news. During a couple of months time, I had two different care givers. The problem - Each time they started working for me, the care givers would tell me that my hours were cut. The first care giver said, tomorrow and the rest of the month, are full time, but, the following day, she cut my hours again by two hours. I believed these care givers enjoyed setting up their own hours, just as I believe the case managers do. I never heard one word from the case mgr, Hannah, as every time I attempted to contact her, she was OUT of the office. The care givers were more interested in playing their telephones, than anything else. I told Lauren, the 1st care giver, that I don't know what she would do without her phone.....she was constantly playing with it... read more

I worked there for 8 months as a caregiver. I wasn't a licensed CN but due to Covid, they extended the time allowed to be licensed. The management staff were mostly in their 20's and 30's. The man I was a caregiver for I could assess after a few months needed more assistance hours so I called management. He had the hours but they didn't realize it until I brought it up. After he went to an assisted living facility, I requested new clients but the more appropriate people who only needed companionship were immediately snapped up and I was only offered more complicated clients who required the kind of care I wasn't trained for. The salary was adequate but I cannot recommend them. read more

They care so much about their clients and employees, they have employee of the month and quarterly! They go out of their way to wish happy birthdays to administrators, clients and home care providers. First Choice definitely put my life on the right track of professionalism and customer service. These people never answers their phone, hire mostly people that don't speak English and/or have literally no training at all like literally nothing other than watching a few videos. They cap you at $20/hr @ 10,000+ hours of experience and say it's because "you get to pick your clients" like that changes anything about how much THEY get paid from the state while giving you Pennies. I've heard horror stories from quadriplegic paralyzed clients getting robbed or straight up abandoned by their aids but don't worry you can pick up an emergency fill in shift for some horribly upset desperate person that hasn't been fed or given water all day 3 cities away (always tugging the heart strings) for a whopping $20 BONUS!! This company is honestly despicable and the owners as well as the entire administrative staff staff are completely out of touch and must all be in cohoots to make sure people don't know how bad things actually are. Please do not use this company if you value the health, wellness, and self-respect of your loved one. read more

They always have a schedule for me. Many companies have positive and negative aspects of course. They do provide training right near their office (same building). It's in-Home Care so of course people aren't going to 100% be happy in every situation. Find what suits you best and stay with your strengths. Don't take on jobs and leave it to someone else. They do have a variety of clients and employees alike. read more

This place is outrageous! They hired the most horrific people to take care of seniors as well as persons with disabilities. Their caretakers either show up and do no work at all or do only half of it. This company also leaves their clients high and dry with no help at all, while they just sit there and collect their paychecks. This has been going on since forever. I am not sure how they can stay in business especially when a client calls them asking when their going to be sending out someone to help them and all first choice in home care says is were working on it. I am also wondering they can stay in business and how this can be legal by how they treat their clients. Especially the ones that are the most valuable and have no one to help them out otherwise. First of all, please do pardon my English grammars. I'm not a born USA person. I recently had a First Choice Caregiver. The first one quite on me due to there's no available street parking. The second: I'll named this person "K" -- doesn't do \did a good job cleaning my place. "K" worked 4 days a week. Start early 7am to 1 or 2pm. I reside above freeway and dust abundant. "K" should have vacuumed my carpet every day and mopped the floor -- oh well, is a tad lazy. It's probably because "K" was busy eating. Told me doesn't bring own lunch. Well, it's because been secretly eating my foods (I watched "K" eating one of my cookies and that's the reason I terminated the services). My home got lots of stuff and food to eat. I'm semi-disable and only grocery shopping once a month because I don't drive. So, whenever I have time for grocery, I bought a lot of snacks. Whenever I open my snacks box it is already open and carefully put back, so it won't be noticeable on first glance. Goodness, I'm the only one eating these snacks\foods, so I knew I'm the only one opening\tearing the packages and eating it. I would know I am the only one who touched those snacks. When I woke up both kitchen and living room lights turn off and she's supposed working. She's just resting at my living room. According to this person, been working for so many years as caregiver. Guessing that this person doesn't have\had a qualm eating food which tells me that "K" possible doing this for a long time. I had to call the agency to cancel the services. I specifically informed them that I don't want a caregiver that are dishonest. I also, let them know about "K" bad habit. Texted me an appointment time but clarified there would be a two-hour window. Fine. Half a day later the caregiver still hadn't arrived. When I called First Choice to get an update they said he'd been detained. I am deeply sympathetic to all front-line people in these terrible times. Admin staff who overbook and can't communicate? Where it possible to give a negative star rating I would gladly do. I'm a paraplegic who depends on regular care giving. I made the unfortunate decision to place that obligation in the hands of First Choice. The original caregiver left for a better life and First Choice failed to find a replacement. I urge everyone to stay away from this company. My mom has brain cancer and is partially disabled. She cannot do anything independently, she needs help with most of her basic care such as going to the bathroom and eating. When I called First Choice, they seemed very interested and dependable. However, their care giving services are terrible. Some days, the caregiver just doesn't show up and never tells us that she is not going to make it. My mother, has to soil herself, or my sister has to leave her work to go back home an hour away because there is no one there to help my mother. Whenever we try to get replacements in for the day, we can never reach anyone and only get voicemails to leave. Aside from the poor business practices, I don't know how anyone can think it's ok to leave a disabled person to soil themselves or starve. This is a terrible company and I regret picking them to care for my mom. I would like to talk to a supervisor, but I can't even get anyone to respond. I urge anyone to go with another company. This is a terrible company to work for. First of all, I never got paid what they told me they were going to pay me. I got paid almost $1 less per hour. Next, they never paid me for training even though I was supposed to get paid. The one job I did was for someone that supposedly needed help with her ADLs but all she wanted was her house cleaned. What a scam. Now they sent me a letter wanting me to sign a task sheet for a client I never had. Not just that, but when I was there waiting for my interview the receptionist was extremely rude to a client on the phone. Several times she hung up on people without saying 'bye'. Completely unprofessional if you value your HCA license I wouldn't work for FC. An aide no called no showed tonight, this happens often. However when we attempted to call the company to active the emergency back up every phone line has been disconnected! TJ, Thank you for you response. However it is untrue. Phone lines were down from at least 6pm (the scheduled start time of the shift), thru 8am the following morning. If you would like I am happy to post email correspondence that shows as much. Furthermore the amount of no call no shows with first choice exceeds 40%. When considering First choice please remember they are very much for profit. I have always struggled with the idea of requiring any extra help for my day-to-day tasks but with degenerative scoliosis and stenosis I'm not really givin much of a choice at 21 years of age I am bedridden about 80% of the time at best and that's not fair not this young it would be impossible to live with without the support of Marilyn my caregiver she has shown me nothing but respect and has treated me as though I was her friend she doesn't have to do any of this I've been watched over by a caregiver since around the age of eight or nine years old that young I both did not understand what they were for and hated the fact they were there in fact I swore to myself that I would leave a one-star review on this website for how shitty the caregivers used to be but Marilyn has single-handedly earned first choice in home care a five-star review for me which is unheard of for any sort of mental or behavioral health support I would probably give ikron four Stars at the most and they're the best outpatient facility I've ever been involved with but the treatment I get from first choice and my specific caregiver has restored my faith in the people behind our mental health system today I feel like is better than it was when I was young. Worst company ever. They deserve 0 stars. Their office is ran horribly, they treat their patients horribly, they leave their employees uninformed, they pay late every month causing eviction notices, they under pay their professional employees, their communication is poor, no one takes responsibility in the office, they make excuses and give you attitude if you confront them with this information. If you have ever experienced these issues, please report them to the BBB too. *addition* If they aren't shut down by now, I'd recommend reporting them to DSHS. My partner did (former employee) around the time of this review and they even withheld her last paycheck in retaliation. After calling and waiting, we were forced to drive to their office several times and it turns out the receptionist lied about it not being there each time. Upon my partner walking past the useless receptionist into the accounting office to personally look for it, she said "oops its actually right her on my desk". Elderly neglect and abuse was also very present due to poor management and staff scheduling, so my partner stood up to this too which also could have been part of their motivation for retaliating. I started the HCA training at First Choice recently and was impressed with the instruction of Edward and his wife Lieza in the training lab . I'll be taking the state HCA test in a few weeks. You get paid by the state for the training, about 500.00. Did that in less than 2 weeks; still have skills class day, and testing day, although that is included in the 500 pay too. The supervisors who find you the caregiving shifts are great to work with. I have had the following help me in matching up clients for me so far: Jennifer who heads up things, Jack, Angela, Tess, Brenda... TJ... likable and seem like they want to match up clients to caregivers. So far I enjoyed my whole experience there, very much so. Jack is making an effort to get me 40 hrs a week. No over time pay with state clients, bummer. Overall, I have had a very good experience working at First Choice. I haven't been there long, so this is a review of a being employed there for two weeks. Glad I found them! Will bridge to CNA through the hca to cna bridge program at SunRise in Everett, which is 4 days of class and clinical, then I take state CNA test. Caring for others is rewarding, and working with good supervisors is a relief! read more

I wouldn't recommend this agency for employment. I also would definitely not recommend them for providing care to your loved ones. I've worked for this agency since last summer, yet I haven't had any good experiences with them. First, after completing my training, apparently the trainer was too busy preparing for his European vacation to remember to submit my certification of completion. This resulted in me not only not receiving my payment for training (which is the only good thing about this agency, that you're paid to sit through 70 hours of some idiot showboating for a captive audience), but I had to cancel the client I'd scheduled for that day so that I could bus in to pick up a paper check. Second and third, my most recent clients were both unable to be given the appropriate level of care thanks to sloppy and incomplete information from the staff supervisors (Lauren and Amber). In both instances, I went in for trial shifts, operating under the belief that the information staff had provided me was accurate and that I was only going to be required to provide companion care (basic housecleaning, meal prep, etc.). The first client ended up having a medical condition which neither of us fully understood, which could have resulted in me being exposed to a communicable disease. I also discovered a seemingly trivial detail in this client's information which revealed to me that the agency had provided me with vastly out-of-date information on the woman. This client also gave me the full scoop on just how disrespectful Lauren had been to her during their phone conversations. She warned me that Lauren was condescending and often talked over her. This was confirmed for me by one of the supervisors responsible for evaluating clients, so you know the inside scoop on Lauren's terrible conduct was sound. When I contacted Lauren to discuss with her the irritation I had about receiving such inaccurate client information, she easily slipped into her condescending bourgeois princess mode. Even as I was becoming increasingly upset with her, rather than acknowledge that she'd maybe provided out-of-date information on the client, she talked over me and finally hung up on me. The second incident involved Lauren and another supervisor, Shannon, both of whom were the only supervisors on staff the day I arrived at the home of the second client. I hadn't been there an hour before being informed by one of the housemates that the old man didn't need "companion care." Because he was wheelchair-bound and fresh out of a facility, he would need far more "personal care." According to Amber, his staff supervisor, he would only need some "light house-cleaning and meal prep." This is even reflected in the e-mail sent out with everything I'd need to know to be able to do my job correctly. I was deeply upset by being put into such an uncomfortable position, but especially about how this client had needed someone to arrive at 10 AM, not 1 in the afternoon. Because of FCIHC's incompetent staff supervisors, a sweet old man sat around in a crappy diaper for THREE HOURS! Once again, I contacted the supervisors in rising anger about this unacceptable treatment. Once again, they talked over me, accused me of being verbally abusive rather than recognizing the severity of the situation, even said to me, "Calm down or I'm going to hang up the phone." This is not how to de-escalate an irate employee or client! I have to wonder just how these people get paid the big bucks to have such control over such a vulnerable population of human beings. When I insisted that they acknowledge this was a problem they needed to get more serious about, the reply I got was, "Mistakes happen. We can't make any promises." Since this time, I've contacted one of the supervisors who I'd chewed out during the most recent client to find out about another possible client I could work with. Her reply was short, stating that the client needed personal care, something I wasn't comfortable with. According to the e-mail that was sent out with all of the clients looking for caregivers, only companion care tasks were involved, nothing to do with personal care. So, yet again, here is an example of inaccurate information going out and not providing caregivers adequate details in order to provide the best care possible. I pointed out to Shannon, the staff supervisor assigned to the client I'd inquired about, that the information needed to be updated if it was contradicting what she'd told me. I haven't heard anything from her, even as I expressed interest in providing care to this client. She's opted to blow me off rather than communicate whether or not the client was still even available. TJ Lord of HR is not genuinely concerned about resolving these complaints. The same issues warranting complaints date back to a year ago and yet NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE ABOUT THEM! FCIHC is still providing critically sub-standard care to a vulnerable population. read more

Ive been working at First Choice for 6 years as a CNA and enjoy the work I do. I've had the same client the last 5 years which alone gets me pretty consistent fulltime hours. if the hours come up short for whatever reason, there are lots of sub shifts to pick up to keep my hours where I like them. the front desk I always nice to me and I can pretty much get all my questions anserwed by them but if not, my supervisor can be a little trick to reach by phone but I always get a call back. All in all, I love working for my company, they treat me right and with respect. ive worked for other agencies where I cant say that. read more

we have been with first choice home care now going on two years our first aid is wonderful and love him to death but now he wants to retire and we have a 2nd aid and so far we have had issues with both aids the first aid would call out and first choice could never find a fill in and the 2ndaid abused the client and stole from the client and so far a month has gone by and the items stolen still have not been returned and now I'm forced to change the lock and their client can't afford it when calling First choice the client get transformed to someone different in the office and they also seem to have in office emergency i feel they are just blowing off the client and do not take theses issue series. first choice needs to do a better job when hiring people and do a better job on training the staff people they are helping have tons of medical issues and do not need an aid abusing them. read more

DO NOT do this to yourselves or your family member needing home care support. If I can rate this in the negative, I would. The administration staff are full of young, skill less, incompassionate people who ironically work for a home care company. Dealing with non experienced, non reliable caregivers is only half of the battle.. administration directors like Shea, Shannon, Tess who are in charge of patient cases could care less about dying hospice patients. My mom has had to battle for 4 different people coming in and out of our home within the course of only 3 weeks. All of these caregivers came and prefaced that they have never done this before and are still in training or have not even been registered for training. One dropped my mom in the bathroom and the floor because she didn't know what a proper transfer was. Today, another new person was suppose to come and an hour later I received a call from first choices "on call" support Shannon and she stated the new caregiver woke up late and feeling sick but she's coming anyways. I responded to her with "why would you send someone sick to take care of a cancer patient??" She retorted with "I don't know your case I'm just the weekend supervisor". Cancer patients have the weakest immune system and she still thought it was a great idea to have someone sick come to help after already being late on their first day?? This would also be her first patient to care for. So sick of this place. Extremely unprofessional and unreliable and I beg you that if you're looking for help in a time of need, don't do this to yourself. read more

Don't trust anyone that works in the office for this company. They lie about shifts they advertise and make you fill out the paper work with all your information for 2-5 hours BEFORE they tell you that they hired someone over the weekend, when on the phone they say they only interview on Mondays and Tuesdays. The shifts they advertise never actually exist. The same shift I interviewed for was up again five days later. When I called to see if the shift was still available the receptionist said it was! and wanted to get my information. When I said I was already hired, she scrambled and tried to play dumb about it. Long story short, I went through a ridiculous process when calling them out on it (every employee acting clueless about it and playing dumb and expecting me to buy it). When I finally heard enough beating around the bush and circling off topic excuses, I asked to them to delete me from their employee roster and called them out on the dishonesty. Richard (basically the office telemarketer that called to hire me) got really catty and hung up on me. I really wish I could give this company negative stars. Save yourself the trouble and just don't respond to the ad unless you want to work from 6am-7am five days a week, 30 miles away from your house. The shifts available are not worth $10 an hour. I am very in different with this company. I have met with a few people from this company from a personal level, and the employee's themselves have talked bad things about management, and as well about other employee's within this company. There are a few female managers who are simply disrespectful towards other people( you would assume for being a social worker you would be more respectful to your surroundings, right?) I was seeking for their care giving services, but the way the employee's in the office we're talking about each other along side the management made me feel uneasy with going with this company. Everyone in the office is so supportive when a family emergency or sickness come up. I have never once been paid late or lied to in any way.
