The team was even able to professionally work around a stoned renter in an apartment building who wanted to tie herself to the tree which was destroying her building's foundation. This was in a heavily wooded area, so it was not easy work -- these trees had to be taken down carefully from the top down, with real skill and judgment. Because this is protected land, care and expertise mattered a lot to us, and Palmer's crew absolutely delivered. They were professional, hardworking, courteous, and clearly experts at what they were doing. We were genuinely impressed with the quality of the work and the respect they showed for the property. Excellent crew, excellent job, and we give them the highest possible recommendation.

Over the past 20 years we also hired Leo to remove a few medium-size trees, and take care of problems with other trees that are still here and doing fine. Sometimes he can be hard to get a hold of and to get replies from, and may reschedule your job last minute, and he is pricey. I think he has to reschedule last minute due to weather & cancellations. (He'll let you cancel up to the day before, no charge.) We did have one issue where his team failed to grind the stumps of a removed tree, and we even had them come back and they STILL didn't finish properly. But With that one exception, once he shows up, he gets the job done right. He cares about every tree, and knows how to take care of them. (The stump-grinding was a problem in part to avoid hurting an adjacent tree that we kept). For the big jobs he brings the right equipment, is insured, and has well-trained staff. He even made sure we had written permission from the neighbor with the fence to do the work, that covers us as well as him.

Over that 6 months I received 8 calls from the office staff asking for final payment (very 1900's, they seem allergic to text or email). In each case I would tell them that I was waiting for them to finish the job and would send them photos detailing the remaining work. Then I wouldn't hear from them for weeks, until they called yet again to ask for payment, always surprised that the job hadn't been completed, and again asking for more photos. So all-in-all it wasn't a positive experience. I would say that the guys who did the actual tree work were very easy to work with, I found them to be both professional and friendly! The office staff wasn't easy to deal with; their sole focus seemed to be on pestering me for final payment with little interest in actually completing the job. Were I only reviewing the guys who do the actual tree work, I'd give them 5 stars.
