We camped here, 8/2020, sadly some of the facilities were closed but not of their own doing, local requirement driven (Covid). This place is spectacularly beautiful, our site 20 had an incredible view of a small lake formed as part of the river, there were otters, deer and osprey there regularly. There are a series of smaller lakes by the lodge, regular residents there include moose, we saw a bull there standing in the water dunking his head in for food. This is a magical place. During our visit, we had an incident with the battery on our rig, the manager quickly sent us Chris, he diagnosed and fixed our problem so we could head back to civilization, he also gave me a lot of RV knowledge along the way.

Epic. Amazing. Breathtaking. Exceptional. Stellar. Are you getting what I'm saying? If you camp, and you have not been here, you are seriously missing out. My family does quite a bit of camping and in all the times I've stayed at locations all over the country I've not stayed at a place this awesome. Not only are there a myriad of options to choose from (tent, Teepee, cabin, glamping tents) but there is room for bigger vehicles if you call ahead And here's the kicker. They have a bar in site. Yeah. Rustic, awesome, friendly and walking distance from your camp style of choice. Thwre are also amazing trails to hike, a stocked pond, canoes to use at your leisure and a staff that is nothing short of amazing. I've camped a lot. I've seen good, and I've seen bad. This place, wow, it's amazing. Just get your gear and GO!

The photos & descriptions of this ranch, however accurate, don't do it justice! This property is absolutely stunning - a must see! Right near the foothills of The Rocky Mountain National Park, Arapaho Valley Ranch is located at the end of a dirt road that follows alongside the most scenic lake we have ever seen! The ranch is remote, intimate and postcard worthy! My boyfriend and I live in Atlanta & we were looking for a unique & memorable getaway - we wanted something that would immerse us in the nature that Colorado has to offer while still having the luxuries & amenities of a resort. We found everything we were looking for & more with the Safari Tents at the Arapaho Valley Ranch. Queen sized bed with premium linens, pillows, a full-sized dresser, cooking utensils, pots/pans, coffee mugs and even two large rugs to complete the look! Each Safari Tent also has it's own private deck and fire-pit that overlooks the ranch's own stocked lake. While the Safari Tents are in a more private location along the lake, the ranch also offers authentic-style teepees for rent as well as lodging accommodations in the main ranch house. The main ranch houses guest rooms, pool table, large living room with fireplace, kitchen, restrooms and even a bar!!! There are so many good things I could add about Arapaho Valley Ranch, but by far the most note worthy was how the owners went above & beyond for our stay. My boyfriend, now fiancé, proposed to me the day we checked in. I unziped our Safari Tent to find the biggest surprise of my life! Candles and rose pedals filled the room with a large bouquet of roses beside the bed. In the center of the tent sat a beautiful sign that read 'Will You Marry Me?'. We are so thankful to the owners for making our proposal and stay a complete dream. Arapaho Valley Ranch now has such a special place in our hearts - we can't wait to return for anniversaries!

The xc skiing at Devil's Thumb has always been a favorite for us, as far back as the 70's when it was just a rustic ski trail system with a small nordic supply shop. In recent years it became a full fledged resort with lodging where we have often stayed. We have also stayed in Winter Park, about 15 minutes away and driven over to ski. But we have now found our new favorite option. This is such a lovely place, both the facility and the charming staff. It is a better price value for us than some of the other options in the area, yet more than a simple motel in town. You know, like Goldilocks, "just right." I especially want to note that the (included) breakfast that host John cooks for the guests was wonderful, some sweet, some savory, warm, homemade, natural and ample for the start of even an hearty ski day. They take note in advance of special food needs and serve with a choice of time options. The log style of the building is rustic but nicely furnished. The rooms are well designed and furnished with high quality linens and have lots of storage as some guests stay for weeks. The views from each room are very pretty, some to the Continental Divide, some to the woodland. Every single staff member was friendly and helpful. The central lounge area was large, comfortable, attractive and clean and with a central fireplace. There are also some other smaller gathering areas to sit and talk or read if you wish to be outside your room. And there are also some family and dog friendly cabins on site if you want more than a bedroom. Personally, the rooms in the main inn are just right for my needs. We will absolutely be back. It is convenient to local xc skiing and also just a 15 minute drive past the Winter Park Resort and not far at all from several quality dinner options. We met other guests using the lodging for all of these reasons.

We stayed one night with our window open and blinds open just to get a little air in the burning up room. Our room was at the top of the stairwell where everyone going up or down could see into our room, but if we would have closed the shades or window it would have been too hot even on top of the cover where we stayed. We could only stay one night even though I had booked four. The owner refused to reimburse any of my money. He actually said if I checked out by 10am and someone else booked it he would give some of my money back, but when I checked out before 10am they didn't even list the room on the sites. I am guessing they probably found a way to rent it and also take my over $1000 for three more nights. I feel like the owner is a con man! The room is truly ugly. ex: old green tile shower from the 60's... The view is beautiful, the staff is sweet and the location on the boardwalk is great, but in July it needs AC! It never advertised that it did not have AC like other places ex: YMCA hotel. Please do not fall into the same trap I did. It cost me over $1000 on my every five year anniversary with my wife to find out.

It's also a 5 minute drive to Grand Lake and horseback riding. The town is definitely on "mountain time" meaning they start shutting down when it gets slow, or just before nightfall. THE RANCH: The ranch in general does have a lot to offer and it appeared that it's mostly used for weddings. They have a basketball court, volleyball court, kids play area, petting area with various farm animals, indoor pool, workout area, kitchen area, gazebo, fishing stream, 2 bridges, yard games, s'mores fire pit, BBQ grills, and a ton of places for photo ops! There were also several cabins throughout the ranch of various sizes that could hold families of 4-5 in each cabin. I think there were close to 15 different cabins to stay in. PROS: We really liked being on the ranch and got to spend some great quality family time doing family events on the ranch. We fished, rode horses, played BB, cornhole, and a few other yard games. We also saw a large Moose and her baby grazing about 100m from our cabin. It's really common to see Moose in the area, but it was a special treat to see her with her baby. We also saw humming birds and tiny chipmunks around all cabins each day. CONS: For 2 days we became overwhelmed by mosquito's. It got so bad that they called in a local company to fog the area with repellent to help kill them. The fogging did help and significantly reduced the number of mosquito's in the area. The rooms, bedding, beds, bathrooms, and cabins in general are nothing to brag about. They are old, and in need of big updating. I tried not to let this cloud my judgement about the ranch as a whole because we were there to enjoy the outdoors but it would have been nice to come back to a nice room and shower at the end of the day. If their main focus is a wedding venue, I was expecting to be in a much nicer cabin, especially considering they cater to people on one of their most memorable days. The cell phone coverage in the area is very hit and miss. Overall, the family and I enjoyed our time here and made some great memories!!

One thing to keep in mind is that if you are doing a week day event, you cannot get in to do decorating until 4:30p since this is a place of work. It did make our start time of 6p a little tight. We had the event catered but used disposable/compostable products. The kitchen area is open and perfect for a buffet. We also arranged for a Sweet Cow ice cream truck to come for dessert, which was a big hit and fun way to end the evening. I would do another party there given the chance.

The venue has beautiful hardwood floors, large windows, and a door to the outside patio, right on the river. We were able to hang decorations and we're asked often if we needed anything, any help. Leanne Jewell is the event manager and she took great care of us. When we originally booked the venue the plan was to have it mostly outside with 30 people. Just days before it became apparent we would possibly have snow or rain and 50 people. Leanne reassured me not to worry, they would move the party indoors if needed.
