Stillwater is one of my favorite car camping sites. It is a short drive to Lake Grandby and about 25 minutes to Winter Park. The camp sites are always well maintained as are the bathrooms. The bathrooms have running water, full stocked with toilet paper but no soap so be sure you bring some. The sites contain bear boxes, picnic tables, fire pit and pad for your tent. You can always park your car close to any of the sites. There are designated paths that lead to the water and very small beach area. A ton of paddle boarders, a few boats and jet skis but, mostly people just enjoying the water close to the beach area. read more

Large campsites that were spaced out nicely! The views of the lake and the mountains were outstanding. The shower facilities were awful. Three women's shower stalls and only two worked. There was not hot water. Did not appear to have been cleaned for quite sometime. read more

I've been camping at Stillwater for a few years, and it's one of my favorite campgrounds in all of Colorado. The 360° views of the surrounding area and Lake Granby are breathtaking, and it's only a 13-minute drive to downtown Grand Lake and 15 minutes to the RMNP Grand Lake Entrance. There are tons of great sites to choose from. I've stayed at several, and I've never had a negative experience. The sites closer to the lake are, of course, prime spots, but the higher-up sites offer the best views. A perfect spot for bike riding, standup paddle boarding, fishing, and boating. Dog friendly! The campground is incredibly well-kept, and the camp hosts are consistently wonderful -- a huge thank you, especially to Tim, Luanne, and Lynne for being so friendly and accommodating! The bathrooms are pristine, and the hosts are always checking to ensure there's enough toilet paper and warm water for the showers. Quiet time is from 10 PM to 6 AM, and they do an excellent job of ensuring everyone respects this. I highly recommend Stillwater and look forward to many more visits! read more

A once great campground that has been taken down a few notches by the Pine Beetles. Years ago this place had a lot of trees within the campground creating privacy, much needed shade and good scenery. Unfortunately the infestation of Pine Beatles was very heavy in this area and whole mountain sides have been cleared because of all the dead trees. Same goes for this campground. There are pretty much no trees of good size to offer the privacy and shade that's really needed. It will be decades before the new growth catches up to the old ones. That aside, it's a nice place to camp. Great views of the lake and mountains. Facilities are nice. Real bathrooms and even showers and it's a short drive into Grand Lake. It's expensive though at $30/night. If your into glamping, this is definitely the place to go otherwise there are much better Forest Service campgrounds for cheaper. read more

Stillwater Campground - Boating Near Me - Granby, Colorado

Definitely not the best campground in Colorado (or even on Lake Granby), but it's, as Yelp puts its 3-star rating, "A-OK." The campground sits atop a slightly hilly peninsula that juts into the West side of Lake Granby. If you're looking for a shady, wooded campground this is NOT your place. I don't know if the lack of trees is due to Pine Beetle damage or if there were never any to begin with, but there sure aren't any there now! It's all low, scrubby sage and the occasional pine down by the water's edge. Bring your own wood if you come, because there's none to be gathered. Another bummer: it's actually pretty close to the main drag that is Hwy 34. So close that you can hear and even see every last car rushing by (lack of trees, yo). It's hard to feel like you're in the wilderness when there's an ambulance and police cars whizzing by, sirens wailing, while you're trying to enjoy your S'mores. Lack of trees and highway frontage notwithstanding, Stillwater does have some strong points. Namely, the 'throoms. They flush! They flush! They're also handicap accessible, clean, and lit at night. There are free hot showers too, which is nice when you come shivering out of Lake Granby's ice-cold waters after a session on the wakeboard. Did I mention there's an on-site boat ramp? Good stuff. If you camp on a Saturday, you'll be treated to a show at Stillwater's Campground Amphitheater. The weekend we stayed, it was "Smokey Bear and His Ranger Friends." I'm guessing this particular event was more for the kiddies, but some weekends they even offer live music. That could be a major plus or a major suck, depending on who's scheduled! All in all, a decent enough place to camp but not one of my favorites. Not by a longshot. read more

I give this campground a 2 star for the location and setting - but be aware that the #reservations.gov website is messed up (FF = First Come First Serve) and people had reservations. The camp "hosts" were dazed and confused and couldn't explain the multi-day issues and were exacerbated by having to explain it to all of the campers. We heard it at least 3 times....... We stayed one day and left for Sunset Point - a true FF - get there early and you'll find a spot and an excellent camp host Fred! read more

We had a horrible experience with this campground. The sites are so close together that a dog at another site bit my son while he was on the walking path. Instead of letting us rush to the hospital or making sure my son was ok, the park ranger kept us there to do paperwork. She then asked if we would be leaving instead of having the people whose dog bit my son leave or moving them to another site where the dog would not be by children. read more

We just stayed at Stillwater Grandby campground. It was a awesome trip. We stayed in B62. That is right next to the campground hosts in B61. The vaulted bathrooms were very clean . They are way better than the old outhouse style. American Leisure has two great employees who take care of the B loop. We had no problems with loud campsite of others or generators at all. Please visit Stillwater like we did. The campground hosts have a great sense of humor. read more

Stillwater Campground - The best stress reduction - Boating Near Me - Granby, Colorado

We booked this campground in June 2021 mainly because they are so close to the national park & because they advertise hot showers which is a huge deal for those of us tent camping for multiple days and the reason for my low rating since apparently their showers have been down since at least early May (according to my Googling, the camp host is well versed with telling campers that a "part" is missing and has been ordered, with it arriving "next week", we were told the same thing when we asked). Anyway, long story short, if you're tent/car camping do not count on the advertised hot showers, we had to do with a bucket filled with ice cold water, it was horrible and degrading, not to mention that the shower rooms smell like mildew, yuck. I must also note that the campsites are very small and you're only a few feet away from the people a site over which means *lots* of noise. Most sites don't have bear/wildlife proof canisters, despite there being signs that bears roam the area. Not to bash this campground completely, I will admit that the proximity to the national park, the amazing view of the lake and mountains are a plus. read more

Stayed at this campground for two nights (Thursday/Friday) and were very pleased by our experience, the views, and what the campground has to offer. Yes, there are no trees. The hosts explained to us that they were all killed by beetles. This is super clear and obvious from pictures & reviews. If you're upset by that, stay elsewhere. The benefit of not having trees around means you have a great view no matter where you stay! Our view of Lake Granby was gorgeous, and the mountains surrounding the area really added to our enjoyment of the campsite. Bathrooms are available, but BRING YOUR OWN HAND SOAP. They don't provide it. We had zero issues with any sort of noise, or disturbing neighbors. Our neighboring campsites were very kind & friendly. Go introduce yourself! If you don't want to see other people while camping, you should be hiking in, and not at a literal campsite. Quiet time starts at 10PM and it was respected both nights we spent here. Having water & being able to dump trash was a great camping luxury that I am not used to, and really appreciated. They sell wood on-site ($7 for a bundle) and the hosts are extremely welcoming & helpful. We had a great day-hike suggested by the hosts and ended up having an amazing time. The site is situated right between Grand Lake & Granby, so there are restaurants, gas stations, etc nearby. RMNP is just a short drive away. We would stay here again! read more

The grounds keepers (2) shouted at our kids for being at the restroom past 10pm. He then lied and said the kids were running around making too much noise. We couldn't sleep that night because the campers next to us were talking loudly the whole night... but they never got any complaints. read more

We love this campground with a 360 degree view! The showers are warm and wet and welcome. It has RV and tent spots and prices are reasonable especially with a golden age pass ($11 for tent.). After camping in RMNP we were ready for showers and stayed 2 nights. We enjoyed a nearby hike to Cascade Falls and saw 6 moose! Did I mention the lake view!!! read more

So I would like to start by saying there are no trees here the beetle kill literally killed all of them so make sure you have canopy's or shelture to make for the day because there is no coverage, it got extremely windy also so make sure the canopy's you have arent shitty. We found out once we got there that on top of the fee to camp you have to get a parking pass, which is 3 days for 10 bucks, this goes for all, and any camping or activities up there. You can only have two tents at the max per site which we had three and ended up just snagging the site next to us. Fresh water, showers and bathrooms are available. I am giving high starts because the people who run this place are awesome, super laid back and nice. We ended up needing tent poles due to stupidly putting them in the wrong place from our last trip and they had those for use to barrow as well as a tent, which saved our day. Everything was clean which was nice actually showing up to a site and not having to pick up everyone's crap. I was also a little worried because we were across from the manager that we would have to be super quiet which wasn't the case and that was a plus, no point in camping and going to bed at 9pm. All and all it was an okay spot, you cannot expect much when you have to pay. read more

We stayed at this campground for four days in July. If your goal to be in the area was to do water activities, this campground would be just fine. We aren't huge into them, wanted a camping experience instead. I would not recommend this campground. The camp hosts were attentive and there are free warm showers which were nice. The camp sites are way too close to each other with no trees to separate them. Highway 34 noise is very noticeable and irritating at all hours if you are on the half of sites closest to it. We felt like we were at a festival or fair with so many people. Grand Lake and Granby are both within 15 or so minutes from the campground. I would not recommend going to this campground unless you were there to boat/paddleboard/kayak. read more

(RV Camped) Booked this campground because of limited availability in the area the weekend we selected. Amenities are limited - fresh water is available at dump station so you can run up dry. The camp sites were littered with trash from previous campers - I teach my son to pick up trash even if its not ours but in this case that was too much to ask. Note to Staff. It is unsettling filling up with fresh water next to a dump station - was this water used to flush someones $$hiter? Also, don't design an RV site with the access to the left - (backwards) this is not Europe and the doors for RV's are on the passenger side. Be ware of the NAZZI campground hosts, which has non government oversight. They (sub-contractors in government parlance) are obnoxious and make light of that fact when badgering campers. The Forest Service should seek another company to oversee the management of this campground. cheap and tawdry losers were hired to manage this facility. This is one time I wish we'd dealt with a government run facility rather than these losers (Milton Freidman is rolling over in his grave). read more

We loved camping here! The host are friendly, the views are amazing! This is now one of our favorite spots. The bathrooms are well kept...the tent sites have a great set up with lots of space, fire pit and picnic table. There is a lot of space between sites. The sunsets and sunrises are gorgeous and the lake is perfect for swimming or fishing. I highly recommend this place...you will not be disappointed. read more

Three things that disappointed us about this place besides the constant wind and the lack of trees (Can't be helped). #1 is the fact that if you want a site by the water, they tack on another $5.00 a night and call it a premier site. #2, because of greed they have added way too many sites. It's like tent city. You are camping on top of each other. 3 to 4 feet between sites. #3 it's not gated. When people pull in between midnight and 4 a.m. and try to setup in the dark, they wake up the whole area no matter how quiet they try to be. Most have been drinking and don't care about being quiet. It 's disappointing how Colorado has become so much like California. A charge for everything and then too many people in the end that keeps you from enjoying shat you came for. They need more campgrounds not more sites per campground!!! read more

We have been coming to this campground for years and this year, 2013, has by far been our best experience. The campground is very clean and the boating can't be beat. There are a few spots where you can beach your boat right by your campsite. The boat ramp is great and the views are spectacular. The campground has definitely been affected by the pine beetle and you can see your neighbors BUT now you can see the spectacular views of the lake and the mountains. The new campground hosts, Steve and Anna, are awesome! They remember us every time we come up there now and have helped us each time with navigating our RV into our spot or giving us tips on just about everything; super nice people. We think it is the best campground in Colorado if you have a boat and like to fish. read more

What a zoo. Recommend not camping here on a weekend. Had reservations for two nights will be leaving after the first night. All trees killed by the bark beetles and cut down. Wall-to-wall people generators loud music and partying youngsters. The tent next to our little camper was 15 feet away. Looking for a camp spot? My question would be is there anything else available? It is only two hours from Denver. Hence the zoo. read more
