I was looking for a good morning spot for pastries in Tucson, and Bakery by Ren was at the top of…read moremy list. Parking was in a busy plaza, but I immediately loved the area. It felt very athleisure and laidback with FP Movement, a yoga studio, and coffee shops around. Very much my vibe. We accidentally walked into REN Coffeehouse first. It was crowded with a long line and had fewer baked goods. It was more a lunch spot with an expansive menu. Once I realized the bakery was next door, we walked over and found it tucked into a beautiful courtyard. The space is gorgeous with lots of greenery, a big tree, and plenty of tables. People were enjoying a slow, relaxed morning. Bakery by Ren itself is smaller, much less crowded, and had no line when we went. There was a great selection of baked goods including assorted croissants, muffins, cookies, kolaches, and more. We ordered the ham and cheese quiche, which they heated up and tasted great. The orange cranberry loaf was so delicious with a bright citrusy flavor and big cranberry bits. The icing was slightly on the sweet side, but so addicting. I also ordered a hot matcha latte and you can add flavors like lavender or vanilla for an additional charge. They also offer several alternative milk options. Matcha itself wasn't amazing, but it did the job. I picked up a bag of Presta coffee beans and received a free cup of coffee. They also offer a 3.5% discount when paying with cash. Saving this spot for the next time I'm back in Tucson!

I lived in France for a year and am an absolute Francophile, so I was delighted to find this bakery…read morenext to Ghini's Cafe (which is mediocre at best) that offers surprisingly authentic French pastries! Everything that we have tried so far have been delicious. I especially like their eclairs and my husband really likes the Swedish princess cake. Their pastries really do take me back to France (especially during this pandemic where I can't go back just yet), so I'll happily patronize the bakery section than sit at Ghini's and endure what they dare call French cuisine. Quelle blague!

The baguette is so so but it's better than some place I've gone to. Baguettes here is ok didnt get a chance to try other food here that they have. Service is not even ok. The person behind the counter doesn't even smile or greet friendly. Had 2 visit here and it wasn't good. Here they don't give receipt unless you ask for it ( I guess) because I always have to ask for it. Ambience here, you can dine in or outside sitting. I gave a 3 because customer service need to work on and the receipt should always given to customer and have their logo on it because that way others know what you buy and the amount you paid. Most every place should have their name on top of the receipt.

Overall, great experience. Here's why: I'm not a huge "water ice" connoisseur, didn't grow-up on…read morethe east coast eating it so I don't love it out of tradition or nostalgia, I like it, but don't always love it. I mean, it's right there in the name, it's literally watery ice with some flavoring, so maybe it would peak for me in the crazy heat of summer when the cold is refreshing. However, add some frozen custard to make it a "gelati", and now we're getting somewhere anytime of year. I got the root beer water ice gelati, which means they start with frozen custard in the bottom of the cup (I love the vanilla), add some water ice on top to fill the cup, then add more frozen custard on top above the rim. Check out the pic I posted. My wife got the wild black cherry gelati. My rootbeer water ice was a bit bland, not strong enough tasting, her wild black cherry water ice was really flavorful and good. The frozen vanilla custard on both was excellent, rich, creamy and smooth. Every time I eat at Rita's I want to tell them 90% custard, 10% water ice. And they're always so incredibly nice they'd definitely do it. Next time! I keep saying that, seriously, next time! The service at this location was extremely welcoming and friendly, it was great. Atmosphere is bright and open, lots of light, colorful light board menus, lots of colorful, fun, happy signs with specials and such. The place is clean and well kept, comfortable, not too loud, with a slow steady stream of customers. Check out my pics of the inside. I think as far as water ice goes, compared to many other places, and I've had a few, though I'm not a water ice aficionado, Rita's is excellent. As far as frozen custard goes, Rita's is excellent. The choices and toppings are endless. I recommend Rita's. ***FREE WATER ICE DAY is coming up on March 20th. Great time to pop in and give it a shot, worth the extra to add some of that delicious frozen vanilla custard to your favorite flavor water ice.

I would definitely come back here often if I lived close, especially in the hot summer months. Staff was extremely friendly and seemed to enjoy walking us through everything they offer. My guy had never had custard before and enjoyed being able to have samples. You can tell everything really is made fresh. We got their Gelati with Strawberries N Cream (cream ice) and Vanilla Custard. When I say this was phenomenal, I am not exaggerating. The texture of both was divine and creamy and I could've eaten a tub full of it.
