The tacos are so good! Real tacos with corn tortillas! They put a lot of meat in them too which is a plus! The quesadillas are also very good and really big. Kind people . Their tortillas for their chips and salsa are good. The salsa they serve is okay, good but not the best I've had but definitely still good. Rice and beans are also good. I would give 5 stars, but I don't like that it's cash only. But definitely a great place for Mexican food or just great food in general. I love this family owned and operated taqueria. It is touted as one of the best taco joints in the country- that's a bit of an exaggeration as I've had tastier tacos in Southern California and Texas. However, this is probably one of the best taquerias in the Lehigh Valley. Their al pastor burrito is my favorite- super creamy, tender meat, full of flavor with a hint of sweetness from the pineapples. Be careful at the counter by the entrance- despite the glass in front of the grill, there is a lot of oil that splatters beyond the glass so the ground is a bit slippery. So, I'm originally from Williamstownship and grew up in the Easton, Bethlehem, Allentown area. We have lived all over, but for the past 15 years, in Louisville, KY. When my mom told me about this place and of course the national review, we were all pretty excited to try it. It is a hole in the wall on Linden St. There is simple, but comfortable seating upstairs and the staff was pleasant. The prices for tacos ($2.00 or $5.00 for 3) can't be beat and the food was quite quickly prepared. We arrived at 12:05 pm, right after they opened which was probably a good time because we had heard that lines do form due to the national review and there was no one there yet. We ordered ALOT of tacos; goat, prime rib, al pastor, chorizo, chicken, steak, carnitas, and another pork style taco. So, these are traditional Mexican-style tacos; 2 corn tortillas (they were a little thick), marinated or seasoned low-quality meat, onions, and cilantro. You can add salsa, cheese, sour cream and other toppings of your choice. Some we ordered regular and some we added sour cream and cheese. We also ordered cheese dip with our chips and salsa and rice and beans. The goat was nicely cooked and very shredded beef or roast-like, with a nice seasoning. The al pastor was ok. The low quality of meat is not great and then there could have been more grilled pineapple. The prime rib was nicely seasoned, but of course, fatty. The others were just mediocre. It is disappointing that they don't use real Mexican cheese or queso, the queso or cheese dip is canned nacho cheese, the chips and salsa were too small a portion for 5 people, and the meat was just tolerable. I guess I'm spoiled because there are great authentic Mexican restaurants and gourmet all over Louisville. Victoria's and La Rosita are great little authentic Mexican in Louisville, but I have yet to find a really great place in the ABE area. read more

I had really high hopes when I saw all of the hype in the news about this place being number 3 in the nation for tacos. I thought to myself, "is there really a better place to get tacos then Mexico Lindo?" I'll cut to the chase. No, there's not. Save yourself the headache of standing in line, getting anxiety over a table (another review said there's only two tables but if you pass the register and go up the steps, there's about ten more tables in the back), and then waiting forever for three tacos that you paid five bucks for. Not worth it. We came at lunch time (this was a few weeks ago), stood in line for about ten minutes, and waited over 35 minutes for our tacos. Reminder, purchase a drink while you order the tacos, otherwise you will have to go wait in that line again. There really isn't table service. They will bring out your food but that's it. While you are standing in line, everyone's order is prepared in front of you. Okay, let's get to the food. We ordered the following: The chips and salsa were terrible! Chips had no flavor. We put salt on them, which improved the flavor but the were kinda greasy. Don't get me started on the salsa. Definitely came from a can or a jar. Gross. Overly sweet. Just yuck. Chicken taco Tex mex - chicken was tasty, no complaints here. Carnita taco - asked for it with just cilantro (heads up, they put huge chunks of onion on the taco) and it came out as Tex mex. Wasnt worth complaining about and waiting longer. Pork was average. Shrimp tacos - Bland. Beef taco - Average. Rice & beans - Zero flavor. Rice was mushy, almost like a paste. I feel bad for the people who ordered burritos. Beans were grainy and gross. Took two bites just to be sure how gross they were. You're better off going to Mexico Lindo a few blocks away. Daily specials (two dollar tacos on Tuesdays) and everything there is fresh and cooked to order. If I was on a budget, had some cash on me (CASH ONLY ACCEPTED), and there wasn't a line, I'd go back for a chicken taco but there are better local options. Taco Bell on Stefko Blvd, for instance. Of late, I've been enjoying reading Jonathan Gold's excellent pre-move-to-the-LA-Times collection of restaurant reviews (from his years at the LA City Paper) entitled "Counter Intelligence." The reviews are like foodie bedtime stories, and he always found something to laud in every restaurant, including the tiniest taco truck in some forgotten neighborhood. In fact, those taco stand reviews are among the most memorable, and generated in me a kind of melancholic envy - why can't we have tacos like _those_ here in the Lehigh Valley? I was browsing nearby restaurants on Yelp, and discovered that there's this little taqueria nearby (like, a quarter-mile nearby), and everyone (save a few apparently bitter souls) seriously swoons. I consulted with my wife, and we decided that Wednesday night would be taco night, and we'd give them a whirl. The menu is very focused, there are some tacos, quesadillas, a few novelty items: gyros (?), but I would venture that the heart and soul of the place are the tacos, which you can get three for a measly five bucks (toppings and tax extra). This could very well be the deal of the century. I had two chorizo tacos and one adobada, with marinated pork, on what seem to be homemade tortillas with that excellent masa harina depth. The chorizo was crumbly and magnificent, loaded with paprika and chile spice, and it married spectacularly with the tortilla. The adobada was delicious: marinated pork, some cilantro, a few bits of onion. My wife had the al pastor, which was pork with pineapple, which also was quite delish. They all come with lime wedges, three excellent salsas (guajillo, which has the serious depth of dried chiles; tomatillo, as bright and fresh as a cloudless sunrise; and avocado with jalapeño, which also just exudes freshness: unctuous, with the bulby heat of the jalapeño), and a couple slices of radish to freshen up after all of those flavor fireworks. We also got the corn nuggets, which are intense little bombs of corn batter and kernels, deep fried, something like a Mexican hush puppy. They were addictively, dangerously good. We also ordered a bistec quesadilla, which combined tasty bits of steak with some earthy cheese (I was unsure of the provenance). I think one could easily make a meal of the three tacos and the nuggets, your results (and appetite) may vary. My wife picked up the food, and reported that the petite storefront is very clean, the staff is exceedingly friendly, and the whole experience was very charming. Our Mexican feast ran us about $20, a number that continues to amaze. We are ecstatic that this delightful little place is right around the corner. We also agreed that tomorrow will probably be Taco Thursday! read more

I stop in for lunch here once or twice a month. Outstanding tacos at an affordable price (3 for $5) plus always several specials up on the chalkboard to try. Yesterday I tried the Pork Rib Mole Taco which was delicious. My favorite menu tacos are the Chorizo and Adobada. Staff is always extremely friendly and helpful. Service has always been reasonably paced with chips & salsa within 3-5 minutes and tacos arriving within 10 minutes.I have never had more than just one person ordering in front of me during my visits. Haven't tried any of the other food here since the tacos are quick, cheap and great. Don't forget to try their homemade hot sauces. The Salsa de Aguacates is my favorite but the Roja Guajillo sauce is also good with a nice heat to it. There is an additional dining room upstairs so the place is not as small as it may seem. Last but not least they are BYOB so bring your favorite adult beverage with you to enjoy. The only negatives for me are that they are CASH ONLY and that I am disappointed with their regular salsa which is served with chips and quesadillas. It is sweet, bland and basically just tomato chunks like ar jarred Picante. Only street parking along Linden St. but I have always found an open spot in front. read more

We got chicken, steak, park and pineapple , and chorizo tacos as well as beans and rice. Hands down the chorizo was the best! Horchata had a nice peppery cinnamon taste. Very refreshing. Review 200!! I want to live here. I'm going to pitch a tent in the corner by the front window. I love horchata and it's been a while since I've had it. Well besides the rumchata I pick up at the state store every few weeks. The horchata here is amazing. It has a bit more spice to it then most. I'm pretty sure they add nutmeg in addition to cinnamon. It's also a bit less sweet which I like as well. It really gives the spices a chance to shine threw. I also had tacos while here. My favorite was the chorizo. It reminded me of the stuff we would get from the local butcher back home. I also liked the steak and al Pastor. I thought the al pastor could have had a bit more flavor but that's not to say it wasn't tender and piping hot. I also tried their fried corn things. They were good. Different then anything I've had at a Mexican restaurant before but something I would order again as a snack with one of their homemade salsas. The avocado on is amazing but quite spicy. It's small, super casual, cash only but you feel like family the moment you walk through the door. As a vegetarian, I'm not very picky. If there's even one option for me I'll give the place a shot. We ordered the veggie burrito, veggie tacos and a quesadilla. In addition to the house salsa and hot sauce on the counter, we were offered 3 homemade sauces, tomatillo, avocado, and red sauce. Always fresh and delicious. I got the chicken gyro and I'm not surprised how fresh and awesome it was. My husband got chicken tacos. It's filling but light! Perfect for an authentic Mexican meal...but try something different. I don't think you'll be dissatisfied. Such a gem right in the middle of our neighborhood. First time here and I have to say it is AMAZING!!! Simplicity at it's finest. Had the steak tacos which were seasoned perfectly. Also tried a fish taco perfectly fried fresh white flakey fish with simple garnish of cilantro and a squeeze of lime. Also had tacos el pastor simply delish. The meat is melt in your mouth incredible, perfect seasoning with the pineapple. The avacodo sauce is a delightful take on guacamole. Light creamy and refreshing. Overall fantastic. Small hole-in-the-wall type of place that's easy to miss, but absolutely amazing! Got the special of 3 tacos for $5 (2 bistec and 1 chorizo), which also comes with chips and salsa. Chips are good and the salsa is sweet and tasty. Tacos have nice soft tortillas that are thick enough to actually hold the fillings. Nice meaty portions that are very flavorful and have nice seasoning. If you like spicy and delicious hot sauces, make sure to ask for the four chiles salsa. I believe it's homemade, and it is really spicy, but that's just how I like it. Only get it if you know you can handle lots of heat. To sum up, you get more food for the price than from something like Taco Bell, and the taste is 5x better too. Really can't go wrong. I grew up in Texas and really enjoy street tacos. I had the Tacos Al Pastor, and goat tacos. They were out of the Carnitas when I went. The salsas they offer rival anything I had I'm Texas, with the exception of the Salsa de Aguacate. This was average. These are authentic and good quality tacos. There was a recent article in the local press stating these are the 3rd best tacos in the US. This is a gross exaggeration. They are good, and certainly worth having regularly for lunch, but nationally recognizable...no. These are certainly among the best in the Lehigh Valley. I would say they'd do okay in Austin, TX but would be middle of the road in a place like San Antonio, TX. Overall good tacos that I will go back for regularly. I recommend them if you need a quick bite, or something different from pizza or cheesesteaks. read more
