Great place. Owner is knowledgeable, extremely helpful, and clearly loves what he does. Highly recommended.

NJ Exotic Pets

NJ Exotic Pets

PROS: This place reminded me of the rainforest cafe. Loads of animals, jungle atmosphere, staff was…read morenice, and prices were reasonable CONS: I expected more from an exotic pet store; monkeys, toucans and other exotic birds, foxes, raccoons, turkeys, etc but the only exotic thing I saw was an iguana. OVERALL: As a normal pet store I think this is better than petco, but if you're looking for some crazy animals to own this place won't have them

My experience with NJ Exotic Pets was very bittersweet. I purchased my beloved hedgehog Hazelnut…read morefrom them, and she was the friendliest, cuddliest, smartest, chillest little girl ever. Our bond was truly special, and I will always be grateful that they brought her into my life. That said, I do have concerns about the health of the hedgehogs they sell. Hazelnut came home with rhinitis and severe diarrhea and needed antibiotics. I even asked if her completely liquid stool was normal (since I was such a newbie to hedgies and had no idea what was and wasn't normal) and was told "yes" by the store; which was very clearly not true... lol. Later in life, she developed a devastating neurological disease that eventually left her paralyzed and requiring around-the-clock care. I would do it all again for her without hesitation, but my experience truly taught me how important responsible breeding and lineage tracking are. Neurological diseases such as Wobbly Hedgehog Syndrome have a suspected hereditary component. Because captive pet populations stem from limited bloodlines and can involve frequent inbreeding, a heritable predisposition remains a plausible explanation, especially since WHS has not been documented in wild African pygmy hedgehogs. For anyone considering a hedgehog, I would personally recommend going through a reputable breeder who can provide documented lineage, health records, and information showing the line is free of known neurological disease. These animals deserve to be bred responsibly, with their health and well-being coming before profit. No hedgehog should have to suffer because proper breeding practices and genetic health weren't prioritized.

Monster Aquarium is a great place for aquarium enthusiasts. They carry a huge variety of fish and…read moreeven have a small selection of amphibians. Honestly, if you're looking for a specific fish, there's a good chance you'll find it here. The prices are reasonable, the store is clean, and all of the tanks are well maintained. I've been a regular customer for a while, and this place never disappoints. The staff is knowledgeable, and it's clear they take good care of their animals. If you're into the fishkeeping hobby, I definitely recommend checking out Monster Aquarium. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced hobbyist, it's worth a visit

I ordered two Red-Tailed Red-Eye Puffers (Carinotetraodon irrubesco) from Monster Aquarium. What…read morearrived were two completely different fish--large, highly aggressive Pao puffers, apparently Pao abei and/or Pao cochinchinensis. These aren't species that could reasonably be confused in terms of size, temperament, or care requirements. This created an immediate problem. Irrubesco are small puffers that I had appropriate housing prepared for. The fish I received were roughly 3-4 inches long and belong to a group notorious for extreme aggression, requiring secure individual housing. I had to improvise emergency setups to keep them separated from each other and from my other fish while figuring out what they actually were. The most disappointing part was the response afterward--or lack of one. I contacted Monster Aquarium about the misidentification and sent photographs of the fish. I never received a response or any attempt to resolve the situation. Fortunately, a knowledgeable local aquarium store was willing to take both puffers, and they are now safely in experienced hands. But I had to solve a problem that never should have been mine in the first place. Fish identification matters, particularly with puffers. Sending someone a potentially extremely aggressive Pao in place of a small Carinotetraodon isn't just getting an order wrong; it can put the fish, the customer's existing livestock, and potentially the aquarist at risk. I understand that mistakes happen in the aquarium trade, especially with species that can be difficult to identify. What makes this a bad experience for me is that after a very consequential mistake, the seller simply did not respond.

Overall, we are satisfied with Petco's grooming service and especially with Ingrid. She is…read moreincredibly gentle with our puppy and very professional. This was our second time bringing our dog back and our puppy wasn't afraid to get groomed. She seemed very comfortable with Ingrid -which says a lot and gives us real peace of mind. The only downside was the pricing. It felt like a bait and switch though that seems more like a corporate-level issue than anything on Ingrid's end. The initial estimate was $80, the app later showed $114 when I confirmed the appointment and I ultimately ended up paying about 40% more than the expected initial quote or $133. I understand there's a cost to getting your dog groomed.. but pricing transparency should be available. That said, Ingrid truly does a wonderful job.

I thought Dr. McGuinness was very personable and seems to be caring with my dog. However. he didn't…read morethink my dog needed a follow up on a bloodwork actually three that had the liver function, ALT elevated and a few other things platelets. He said the dog look good. I was concerned with the inners, not the outer body. He called me back timely actually the next day that was good. But the ALT went up even more. I'm glad I listened and pushed for the blood work. The girl at the desk was very nasty. I needed a little water for a pill as my blood pressure had been running around 200 on and off and over and the medication me a lot she couldn't get me water. She didn't tell me where it was. I asked her before the appointment and after. So I had a few words for her so they blackmailed me. I don't care. I don't wanna go back there basically a veterinarian for shots and heartworm test. That's what they do best. Well like a walk-in clinic for people you wouldn't go there for anything serious. I am not writing this because black balled it's because of the results and his attitude of telling me the dog looks good. What does that mean? Can he see the inside in the blood? So hard to fine totally competent people that are professionals. So to speak. The girl was totally uncaring when I came in about needing water desperately for my pills and when I left would not help and it even tell me there was a water fountain upstairs she said they had no water and it's a major mall in there. There was another girl at the desk so she wouldn't be alone. She could've helped they give baths across the way she said we have no cups. I managed from another vendor to get a little cup with a Cell dog food and he gave me water. The place that sells dog food and rents an area. They are from that mall like Petco. The fellow at the other concession was so caring and helpful. This girl didn't care about my health. I was an emergency with blood pressure is highest 250/110 and close to that six or seven times in the last two weeks. I told her it's really important because my pressure will spike again without the extra meds he gave me. Period she was not helpful the whole time I told her I had one heart attack one stroke please I need just a two sips of water in this whole big place. There's gotta be water with a baby cup or anything. I could use my hands. She didn't give a damn yes I lost my call who won a cold uncaring person. She didn't even acknowledge the dog. I don't think she likes animals. So I would never return there anyway after the doctor told me not to get blood it wasn't important the dog look good from the outside lol really. Like I said it's good for just basic 101 vaccines and heartworm bloodwork. Any bloodwork. That's it. Are you serious as I have a tremor? I have a lot of health issues so if something doesn't sound right, I'm sorry my grandma might not be right close I'm not proofreading this. Don't feel well. The nerve of them to blackball me anyway not that I care. If you don't have caring people there are I wouldn't have them work there. She should be fired. honestly spoken. I'm used to going to vets that's taking interest in dogs and and even humans and treat you properly. I only want them because there was a free exam. I used to go for shots with my dog and heartworm once in a while with my other dogs. Because I had an issue with the bloodwork where I got her so I went somewhere else and figured if it's a free exam at least I'll just pay for bloodwork. I always had a private vets I will be going back next month to the vet where I got her to check another time. The girl pushed me to the limits when I'm afraid of what's going on with my health only reason I went out. I stay home with my health issues is because of the dog that I care so much about that I rescued recently. So I blew off steam. I was really hurt and appalled at this girl's lack of care about my health to get a little bit of water or help me. The other girl told me this when I was about to leave and I needed to take those pills. I was an hour late because she couldn't get me water in the beginning or show me where to. Yes I lost my patience and blasted her. Rightfully so does my life not matter. I guess she may not even care about dogs if she doesn't care about people either. I should not have asked to explain my health. Nothing made her care. Tells a lot.
