Had I thought about doing this even one day ahead of the meeting, I would have been able to book a blissful 90 minute service with super skilled therapist "Emily" versus the 30 minutes of what was left of her time when I called a mere 20 minutes before! The facility is small but perfectly cozy and amenable to all of your needs including organic teas (with the coolest steeping devices I have ever seen and that is coming from a "tea snob"!) and cookies in the waiting lounge, five shower heads in the stalls (that was a first for me) and a scrumptious steam room with what smelled like a combo of rosemary and orange oils sifting thru my senses. None of this would have mattered however if the massage I booked were lousy. Quite the contrary, Emily was...and I say this with a decent amount of experience behind me in this regard, thee BEST massage I've ever had hands down (no pun intended)!!! Not only was the pressure just precisely what I needed for my chronically aching lower back, she used no annoying elbows or otherwise jolting body parts to make her point. Here's the huge kicker: I ordinarily find any sort of conversation beyond "how's the pressure?" during a massage to be the opposite of relaxing. I actually had a good conversation with Emily *while* being perfectly relaxed; didn't even know that was possible. Though with the exchange rate, the 30 minutes + facility use was on the steeper end, this was definitely a "you get what you pay for" kind of deal that was for the best. And besides, I was on vacation! Such a shame I live 25,000km away.

Atmosphere: amazing, clean and modern. Has several different rooms like a cafe lounge to have your lunch. A waiting room with amazing assortment of snacks such as mixed nuts, fresh fruit, cheese and crackers, homemade granola. They also have an espresso machine there. There are around 15 masseuse working the day I went because the place was very full in the waiting lounge which was a downside. They have a steam shower in the ladies room and a hot tub which I love! I wish there was also a coed one for me and my husband to meet up and hangout in but i can live without that. Don't even bother bringing your husband here this is the best place for YOU time. I did a whole 6 hour spa day here. Moisture drench body treatment - amazing! Fell asleep. A therapeutic massage Also great! A moisture drench facial - TOP NOTCH the girl had the best massage techniques I've seen. Seriously still water spa should sponsor meeeeee!!!! I can't say enough good things about it.

This man has hands sent from the gods. If you can request him you will not regret it. I now have a new yearly ritual to add on to the list of Calgary Stampede fun. Stillwater Spa, book me in for the second week of July.... for life!

Imagine where you can goto a place where your entire experience has been thought of. From the moment you book and shortly after walk through the door, their entire business is built around making everything in my first paragraph irrelevant. Floating is whatever you make it, but in its most clinical sense, it is the removal of the over-stimulation the world can force upon us. It is a calm and safe place where you are weightless, floating, and just letting go. There is no, or very little, auditory stimulation - so much so that you really notice how much background noise that you process at any given moment. I choose to float without lights (it is optional, so don't let that scare you, but recommended) and the combination of removing auditory and visual stimulation just allows your brain go to towards amazing places. You get an opportunity, should you choose to take it, to see a true reflection of yourself, to let thoughts and ideas come and go, and really just connect back with who you are. In my case, i kind of forgot who I am, and floating helps remind me of that. Give it a shot, I now float on a regular basis, and it is incredible.

If you ever want to feel like Eleven from Stranger Things, here is your chance! You won't be going…read moreto the upside down or anything, but you will definitely have a chance to completely zone out in a futuristic-lookin' pod filled with 1200lbs of salt (yes, 1200lbs)! I've been curious and wanting to try out floating for a while and a friend of mine recommended this place. It was a convenient location for me in Kensington and I heard that they will be opening up a new place in Marda Loop. You can call or book online a session which run for 1.5hr. It sounds like a long time to just float in water, but trust me it goes by faster then you think! And you can also leave at any point before then as well. When I first arrived, there was no one at the front desk and it took some time getting the attention of the one staff there as the very loud filtration was going on in the back so it was a little noisy when I arrived. The staff introduced himself and brought me into one of the rooms. Inside the room there's a large pod, a shower and a basket of stuff if I needed it. The staff was a little fast in explaining everything, but I got the gist of everything. You shower beforehand, put in these squishy putty in your ears to keep the salty water out and I decided to use a floaty pillow that was provided for a little bit of extra neck support. The water I was told was body temperature and I was surprised how effortless it was to float. I'm not going to lie it took a bit of time adjusting to the environment. There was no music in my room (there are in pods 5 and 6) so I was really left with my own thoughts. I actively tried to get as relaxed as possible and really focused on my breathing and heart rate. Once I eventually did slow myself down, I felt completely weightless and I became so relaxed and zoned out that I couldn't tell what part of me was in the water and what wasn't. It felt like I was floating in space. Music came on to gently "wake me up" and tell me my session was over. Getting out of the tank was so hard because I just wanted to sleep I was so relaxed. I wish that the outside temperature was a touch warmer but the staff member told me that they can actually adjust both the temperature of the room and water. So good to keep in mind next time I come in. Overall, I think it's a really neat concept for those that just want break from the business and stress of life. It definitely helps to be in an environment with absolute zero distractions, noise or any pressure from your body and just to really focus slowing your mind down. Give yourself some time to adjust to the new feeling for sure! Definitely give this a try after a workout session or in the evening, especially closer to bed time, you will for sure be ready for it.

I had a very good experience floating with FloatLife. A…read morefriend of mine had suggested that I tried it because I also like meditation. I was hesitating at the beginning but then I saw a promotion of 5 floats (60 or 75 mins) for $175.00 + tax I decided to purchase it. After confirmation of my purchase I went to their website to book my session. At that time the Kensington location was still open and that's where I went. For first timers, the staff will play a video so you know what to do and what to expect. They also ask if you have a preference on the music that you'll be hearing; you can also bring your own audio device if you want and they'll play it for you. After that I was taken to one of the rooms where the staff person briefly explained again a few things and left me to enjoy my floating session. There are ear plugs to prevent the water from getting inside your ears and also a head foam that will keep your head afloat. The water and room temperature is really comfortable, it helps to relax and enjoy doing nothing haha. Since I am able to quiet my mind because of mediation, it was easier for me to enjoy my session. Once the either 60 or 75 mins have passed, they turn off the music and turn on the lights. You get out of the pod and there is a shower inside your own room where you will want to shower to remove the salt from your body. They provide shampoo, soap, and towels. I felt very relaxed after my session, I stayed in reception for a little bit before going back to my car and back to reality.

The receptionist was so rude and talking over me telling me "ok, right, thank you" before I could ask a question to clarify what she was saying and meaning as her accent was obviously hindering our communication. I was trying SO hard to be calm and clear and kind as I hate getting annoyed and being rude. They wanted me to pay $250 a week in advance for my phone consultation/initial appointment with Haggerty and then I had to go hunt down my medical records for the good Dr or pay their office for all the tests they would request because "they are private". DEEP BREATH. Then the Receptionist phoned me back to cancel my appointment because she ran my cc that was supposed to be on file (I have a special one I use for just such occasions), she originally told me that my card would be charged immediately after my phone appointment with the Doctor which is normal but then called me back to cancel my appointment because the card did not go through and tell me I am out of luck. Thanks for NOTHING except for increasing my stress while I am sick and can't afford more stress. Also, taking money before providing your treatment is not normal practice and reeks of being a money grab. I guess I should be thankful this happened because by the sounds of other reviews and experiences, I dodged a bullet when vulnerable. You all should do the same and spare yourself s the abuse.
