He also recognizes points that are tight and works out those knots. What I love about this place is the service, quality of massage and the setting. This place looks into the river and it's very quiet when you walk in. You don't hear the therapists talking away and that's what I don't want when I'm in a session. The service is one of the best. You're greeted in the waiting area with some slippers and a warm towel infused with a lemongrass scent to wash your hands. They add on about $75 worth of extras for free including hot stone, heat lamp, full body wash, aromatherapy, a bunch more and the newest addition is cupping. With this cold making its way through my system it's exactly what I need. Now onto the massage, I like deep massages and they get it right here. You can request the pressure when you fill out the form in the waiting area, along with the extras (free) that you want, and show them the areas to focus on and avoid. I always leave this place feeling better than when I arrived. What makes a massage good for me are; pressure, hand strength of the therapist and how fluid their motion is on my body. Some I've had elsewhere feel choppy and just not right. I've had reflexology, acupuncture and feet massages here and those were amazing as well. I love a long, good feet massage. The only thing is I always regret not booking for 90 mins!

The tank here is like a bathtub, with a tall ceiling, which takes away any claustrophobic feeling. The tank itself is soundproof and lightproof. It's a very relaxing and tension relieving experience. The space is very clean and staff are friendly. They provide a bathrobe, and towels, and all the shower supplies. My only frustration here was that all the products they offered were run out. I went to the bathroom, the soap was empty. I went to get cleaned up, they have bottles of moisturizer, cream, hair serums, spray deodorant - ALL were completely empty. I would've been less frustrated if they weren't even provided. Other than this, it is a very nice space, lovely atmosphere, and very reasonable pricing.

I've now been two or three times under the new ownership. Sadly, the previous staff is gone -- who can blame them given the rocky transition. I had one or two favourite therapists and I miss them. The staff size has also been reduced so there is way less availability during the day. The massage therapist I've been seeing is good, but overall I feel the facility is losing ground. The place used to be immaculate and really felt like a spa like experience. I was in there last week, and spa shoes were dirty (they aren't cleaning them between clients - something I've noticed during previous visits), the floor has traces of salt and snow on it whereas it used to always be pristine, the decor is not as sleek as before -- there's a white leather couch that looks kind of tacky and holiday decorations that look the same. I always loved that they sent you away with a cup of hot tea. The tea is still there. I wasn't offered one during my last visit, but the time before was offered one -- so overall it's an inconsistent practice and I feel too silly to ask when not offered. I probably won't be returning once I use up my massage series, unless these new folks up their game soon.

There is a severe lack of cultural awareness, a teacher…read moreattempted to physically assist me when I did not give him consent to do so, and they have a studio-wide policy that you cannot leave any class once it has started unless it's an "emergency.". Firstly, I was very shocked to see a white appearing, female teacher, Jesse Caetano, wearing a shirt that said 'Guru' on it while teaching a class. On top of that, this studio still finishes all of their classes with the phrase 'Namaste'. Given the collective cultural awareness around the appropriation and commercialization of yoga especially in the West, it is shocking to see this type of behavior still happening in a studio. There has been an entire movement and there are many resources now available on how studios and teachers should be working towards cultural sensitivity, respect, and inclusion. This studio seems to be completely out of touch and behind on all of these important issues. Secondly, a male teacher, Darryl Brown, attempted to "adjust" me while in a balancing pose (eagle). He stepped onto my mat and tried to push me with a block in his hand from behind. I did not give him consent to touch me when he asked at the beginning of class who would like hands-on assists. Consent is a very important thing to respect in all environments, especially in the yoga studio when there's a male teacher. Lastly, I attempted to leave a class five minutes early and the same teacher who was wearing the Guru shirt, Jesse Caetano, told me " I can't let you leave the room" when I attempted to exit. Apparently, it is a studio-wide policy that no one can leave the heated yoga rooms unless it's an emergency. The owner told me this is to "keep everyone safe". It's important to note that all of their classes are heated and that this sort of policy is inherently very dangerous and limits personal autonomy as well. I would not recommend this studio, there are many great places in Calgary to practice yoga, find another studio!
