Outstanding view of the sea and sunset. Great customer service. Nice ambiance and decor. The food is good, well thought, modern, and nicely garnished. We loved their fries, what a piece of art! We devoured them along with their yummy hummus, funny presentation but that was secondary as it tasted really good. I had the lobster fettuccine and it was a mess. I appreciated that the pasta was homemade but I got thick lumps of pasta on my plate, like if the cook had some trouble with it during the cooking process and couldn't keep the fettuccine separated from one another. So I ended up with lumps and broken pieces of pasta. (See the picture). The flavor was okay, it was missing some richness for my palate. The NY steak was overcooked, I mean very charred! We asked for it to be medium-well. The duck dish was really good. I would come back because one can definitely have a nice meal while enjoying the view. So, we were visiting for my 68th birthday. We made early reservations and stressed it was for birthday. Having never been there before, ( will never go back!!) we didn't know you had to request even MORE SPECIFIC SEATING, like siting on the queens lap. So my birthday seat was staring at a wall and the lady said it's a great seat. Do I have schmuck on my forehead? Nope. Not even empty tables with view. Is that special seating staring at a wall? Sips, snacks, sly staff and sundown. What else do you need. Nestled on the bay side of the OBX and rocking ample and socially distanced tables, me and the pod came to embrace the end of the summer weather and share some sunset snacks. There was live music set out on the lawn beside the restaurant piping yacht rock hits into the twilight sky. The cocktail menus was already transitioning into fall flavors and our waiter was happy to help us taste through the whole thing. We shared a pair of mains and a few apps to soak up the drinks. DRINK REVIEW Only - 3 1/2 stars - Stopped by here for outdoor drinks during this summer. This place has nice large parking lot across the street with a large yard in front where you can sit & enjoy drinks. They also have a deck with wooden tables/chairs. There is also a section of Adirondeck chairs by the water - be warned - it's very hot there & outside as there are not much shade. We enjoyed our glasses of wine & the servers were friendly & did a good job. Prices are up there but then again, you are in a touristy section of OBX. My husband and i came here for a date night and we had such a nice time! We sat outside by the waterfront, which was beautiful but a little hot in the middle of July. We definitely carb-o-loaded on crab dip with crostini, the bread and butter they bring out (like the good bread), and the Caesar salad. We weren't a huge fan of the Caesar dressing (in our opinion it had a strong onion flavor- to each their own). For dinner we had the duck and crab cakes- amazing!! We ate every last bite and paired it with their sauv blanc. It's a little more pricey than most, but you are definitely getting your moneys worth between the food, location, and service. Lunch was amazing! Great poke bowl and wonderful selection of drinks. Since it is also a spa, when you walk in, it smells so relaxing! We ended up going back for dinner, which honestly, wasn't as impressive. The menu selection wasn't that great, but the drinks were still good. Plus the views are beautiful! This was our last night in OBX and half of our group already left for home. That left my mom, my daughter, my son, and me to celebrate a fabulous vacation and my son's high school graduation and my daughter's college graduation. We were disappointed 5 years ago when we came to another restaurant in OBX. This time we chose very well and were very very happy with our meals. Service, food, and view were excellent. Our server was CJ and did a great job! My mom and my daughter both got a cucumber infused Tito fresco drink. We ordered bangin shrimp and baba ganoush appetizers. My mom and I got a spring mix salad, hers topped with a crab cake. My daughter got a cup of corn and crab soup which she said was very very good. We also had fresh bread at the table, and after hearing I am vegan he brought olive oil for the bread in addition to butter! I appreciated this detail so much even though I would have inhaled that delicious bread without the olive oil too hahaha. By this time we had not even had our meals and we were extremely pleased with everything we had chosen. When the entrees came we were even more satisfied. I got a seared tofu medallions dish. Usually vegan options at restaurants can be pretty bland and underwhelming. This was excellent and not at all bland. My daughter got the crab cakes entree. My son got seafood pasta with a crab cake on the side. My mom got the scallops meal. Everything was great! I'm only disappointed we didn't get dessert. All the desserts looked great but my kids wanted to walk along the boardwalk for ice cream. They had a homemade raspberry sorbet which was vegan friendly and I would have liked that. They were accommodating to our group of 11, and CJ our waiter was great, much kudos to CJ. The food gets highs marks for flavor and appearance. The soups were exceptional, on par with a very high end restaurant highly recommend them. The drinks were a little more hit or miss, depending on which bartender you got. I had a beautiful evening at Aqua with my family during the off season in the Outer Banks. We were happy to see the outdoor seating that allowed for plenty of distance between other patrons. There were also heat lamps to keep us warm after the sun set beautifully over the Bay. As a vegan I was curious how good there options would be - but I was pleasantly surprised. Their butternut squash soup was rich and creamy (made with coconut milk). Their vegetable platter was absolutely gorgeous and tasted amazing! My family loved all of their dishes - the Salmon, Duck, and Crab Cakes. All was topped off with delicious drinks. I was able to get the El Captain made spicy - just how about I like my margaritas. Love that this has spectacular views of the sound. You can eat inside or out and you still get to see the water. They even have chairs with a fire pit to sit at and watch the water or sunset. Inside it's very clean and modern with plenty of beach/sunset views. The lunch menu is limited but the food is amazing. We ordered truffle parm fries as an app and I got the banging shrimp tacos. There were only two but I was stuffed. My friend loved her burger & no one had a complaint. Gina was our server and she was on top of drinks and anything we needed. Delicious food, great service, beautiful views. Went here with wife and preschooler on our recent vacation to Duck. We sat on the deck that was right on the water (sound-side) and next to the "boardwalk" that connects the various shops. Our server (can't remember his exact name but it was two initials, CB perhaps) was friendly and professional. We have dietary descriptions, and he let us know that we could modify some of the dishes to remove the pancetta. Wife had the roasted tomato, I had the salmon, and lil' one had the fish and chips kids meal. Was pleasantly surprised by the quality and portion of the kids' meal. Yum! The service was great, the bar area and outdoor areas are great. I've been coming to Duck for years and we were so excited when it opened. But I'm not sure what happen. The main eating area is outdated and needs some TLC. And my meal was not good at all. We tried this place for our last dinner in OBX. We arrived shortly before sunset and the there were no inside tables available. At the hostess suggestion, we took a seat at bar. The bartender Lucy was very friendly and served up drinks quickly along with menus. We shared the Bangin Shrimp appetizer which was amazing. For dinner I had the 6 Oz Filet Mignon which was cooked to perfection served with fingerling potatoes and vegetables. My husband had the Pistachio crusted Salmon with balsamic glazed quinoa and peas, also an excellent choice. The salmon was flakey yet succulent. The facility was very clean, including the bathroom. The wait staff were all friendly and helpful. You could watch the sunset from the bar which worked out great because it got really buggy outside after dark. Overall I would give them high marks for menu selection, presentation, service and cleanliness.
