We bought a new home and before completing the purchase, we were told that the asbestos had been removed. Imagine my surprise when an HVAC contractor told me we had asbestos downstairs! Furious, I called AQHI because they were the asbestos abatement contractor in my closing paperwork. WHAT AN AMAZING TEAM. We learned that the former owners only contracted them to remove asbestos from the top floor and attic. I was prepared for battle. However, they understood our concern and knowing we have a newborn baby, they came right out to remove the asbestos at no charge to us. They were on-time and respectful of my home. It wasn't an easy job. A few weeks later, the HVAC contractor found more asbestos in a different area of the home that was very difficult to reach. I was prepared to pay for this one but they again scheduled a team immediately and did not even try to charge me. The team is outstanding - friendly, professional, caring, honest. It's unnerving to have strangers in your home, working in crawl spaces, going in and out... these guys are pros and I have been perfectly comfortable with them here. This company was reccomended by our HVAC installer to remove asbestos ducting in our attic. The team showed up on time and was friendly, efficient and professional. I felt comfortable leaving the house in their hands until the job was done. When I came back, all the trash was tied up neatly on the side of the driveway for their hazmat trash guy to come pick up a few hours later. The whole process was fast and easy. Very disappointed with company. I have used this company for years with no problem until now. I called yesterday to confirm they can service my location and the price for the job. I let them know I was setting up an abatement for a customer and needed price and a time frame for scheduling purposes. Amanda which answered the phones gave me the answers I needed. All was Good. I called today to schedule the appointment (Amanda answered) and after taking all my information she put me on hold to confirm the price??? That was done yesterday. When she came back she said she could not service my area. Of course you could understand my frustration! That was the reason I called yesterday to make sure it could be done in a timely matter and to know the price so I could let me customer know. Why cant people just do their jobs??? This is not a comment on the performance of the company because they weren't hired. The problem is they claimed they could inspect and remedy Asbestos in one visit which I later understood is possibly illegal and definitely a conflict of interest. Both inspection and remedy companies must or should be separate. After engaging a proper inspection company, (that did only inspection) the test results received were serious, so there was no way that AQHI could've handled the task in one visit. I should have checked yelp reviews for this company before inquiring of them. It would've saved me valuable time. Again, this is not a comment on actual work. None was performed. read more

Had this company come out for asbestos abatement prior to having ac installed. Pros: they came out quickly and at the time they stated. Pricing was average. Job was done quick, just over an hour. Cons: after they left I noticed my internet wasn't working. After troubleshooting with the modem I went to the power bank located in my furnace closet. As I opened the door a piece ducting with insulation and tape on it fell out. I immediately called the office and talked to kelly. She told me it's no big deal and her supervisor would call me. There is no way she could have known what it was and shouldn't be assuming it was not hazardous. The tech who worked on my house named John, not the supervisor, called me and immediately knew it was the furnace exhaust ducting. He insured me there was no hazard and the ac company could take care of it. What was I supposed to do leave it in my hallway for another week?! He knew what had happened and claimed he didn't know at the time. Negligence at the job that's what happened. Overall: I wouldn't recommend them. The only reason I used them is because the ac installation company recommended them. read more

AQHI was a subcontractor to Airplus for a HVAC install. They had a flat fee for the asbestos abatement and removal from the property (no separate fee for the removal). The crew lead, Mario, was great. He kept me apprised of the work and progress. They sealed off the attic access with plastic and hung the asbestos warning sign. The work took a couple of hours, concurrent with some of the HVAC removal and install. The only issue was where one worker slipped and installed a new vent in the living room with his foot. Mario immediately sealed and taped it off. AQHI sent a repair crew the next business day to repair the hole. The repair job was adequate, but you can tell where the seam is by the acoustic material spray... slightly thinner at the edges. But you have to look at it to see it. Mario explained how the asbestos was managed while they were taping each vent shut. They use water to moisten the asbestos to minimize the chance of any material breaking free and floating. Everything was bagged in the attic and the job was cleaned up. You couldn't tell they were there. The bags were set outside, covered, and picked up the next morning. Couldn't ask for a much better job than that.... and we no longer have asbestos in the vents! Summary: Good crew that communicated with me (+1 star); they were on time and performed the work promised without upselling, fuss, or drama (+1 star); good fixed price for the service (+1 star); accidents happen, but they owned it and fixed it (+1 star). These guys removed my asbestos ducting as a third party, so I didn't have any dealings with them outside of the day of the job other than when their office called me to confirm and when I called to get an ETA for the pick up. Both times the office manager was extremely polite and prompt in answering my questions and giving me the information I needed. On the day, the 2-man crew arrived right at the beginning of their 2-hour window (yay!), were very polite, efficient, and seemed to know just what they were doing. After a couple hours they were finished, having done a nice clean-up job, leaving the remaining (non-hazmat) ducting system ready for the installation crew the next day. Based on my (third party) experience with this company, I would highly recommend at least getting a quote from them. read more

I recently replaced the air conditioning system in my home. I got quotes from 3 air conditioning companies and each one of them told me that the old ducts were asbestos and would need to be removed and replaced. All 3 of the companies referred me to AQHI for the asbestos removal work. At first I was a little bit suspicious when they each told me that they only use AQHI. I have 2 young children and was very concerned that the work would be done safely. I talked to the owner, Mike, and he explained the whole process to me. He also directed me to their website for information on their licenses. The website was very informative and had pictures of what to expect during the work so I felt a little more at ease. I was very impressed with his professionalism and can see why the 3 air conditioning companies referred them. I was quoted a flat fee of $650 to remove the ducts. When the crew arrived a few days later the lead guy explained the whole process to me again. They were here for about 3 hours. The workers were very polite and clean. It seemed like they had done thousands of jobs like mine so I felt very comfortable. They sent a truck later to pick up the bagged ducts that were taken to a special landfill. I did not wind up using any of the 3 air conditioning companies that I originally called. A neighbor referred me to another company that wanted to use their own asbestos removal company but I insisted on using AQHI. I am glad I did. Very satisfied!!! AQHI was the asbestos removal subcontractor for Spicer Mechanical during installation of a new HVAC system. Their flat fee covered abatement, removal and hazardous waste disposal of the asbestos ductwork. Both members of the team were fantastic. They arrived right on time, covered the floors in tarps, taped all the vents off, hung a plastic curtain to segregate the attic access area from the rest of the house and hung the appropriate signs. Then they spent the better part of 2 hours in the attic on a 95° day removing all the ductwork. They definitely earned their pay on this day! Everything was bagged while still in the attic then dragged out to the driveway. The bags were covered with a heavy plastic sheet with warning signs taped to it. The haz waste company came the next morning and picked them up. It was the only evidence that anyone had been there. Well, except for the fact they left the attic access area cleaner than when they arrived. (Sorry, mom!) If you need asbestos removed, popcorn ceilings scrapped, or tile removed AQHI is a great company to deal with. Professional, friendly, prompt, clean and thorough. read more

To give an honest opinion I would recommend this company. There are few things though that they can improve. 1.) Give the customer more information on process of the work. The crew who came to do the job didn't really inform us on when exactly the work would be done. I do understand you can't estimate the pace, but at least the worker can let us know maybe an hour before the job is done so that I can meet him up to pay him and wrap things up. I was asked to put the check in the mail box, but I like to wrap things up person to person. So I had to personally drive to their company..which is 30 mins away from my house which was bit of pain but I told them I would do it so I won't blame them for that. It would be just nice..if we do this again set an appointment to meet up to do that in person. 2.) This is a very busy company. I do understand some people who might get frustrated waiting to get a quote or hear back after the estimate is done to get the bid. It took some patience but we needed them so we waited. Overall, it was a good company to work with. Only minor issues but that's okay. They did their job. We hired Aqhi because they were recommended by the company installing our new HVAC system. We needed some old duct work removed, some of it still in use, and a few pieces just laying in the crawl space. When they arrived, my husband started to talk to the foreman about what needed to be done. He was rude and brushed him off. Luckily, we hired an independent inspector to come make sure the work was done properly before taking down containment. The inspector said that the work they did do was fine, but that it was only half done. They did not remove all of the ductwork containing asbestos (including some of the pieces laying in the craw space). The inspector took pictures of and numbered each item, and drew a map indicating where each item was that needed to be removed. Aqhi sent the team back to finish the job. The inspector returned the next day, and they had still missed a piece, a piece that was pictured and on the map. A six foot long pipe, not hard to miss! After the third try, they finally removed all of the asbestos. This whole debacle was stressful, expensive, and delayed the HVAC installation and the rest of the work being done on the house by a week and a half, requiring us to find temporary housing for a week after we moved out of our old place. read more

I took two days off from work to have our damaged asbestos wrapped ductwork replaced. My HVAC contractor coordinated with Aqhi for ductwork removal today between 8-11 a.m. I received a call from the HVAC company at 8:36 a.m. indicating Aqhi would not be here until 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. I said this was not acceptable, calling 30 minutes into the timeframe in which they were expected and now telling me they will be outside the time agreed upon. The HVAC company checked with Aqhi and I was assured they would be here within the timeframe, but closer to 11 a.m. I said as long as it's within the agreed upon time, that's acceptable. At 11:25 a.m. I called the HVAC company. The HVAC company rep asked, "So how did it go?" I said they had not yet arrived. The HVAC rep was shocked. Apparently Aqhi had already sent them the bill and they were in the process of paying the Aqhi invoice when I called. The HVAC rep called Aqhi to determine the hold-up. Apparently they were stuck in traffic in Pasadena, on their way to our home in Orange County. I asked the HVAC company to cancel the appointment. They told me they would never work with Aqhi again. In my humble opinion, this is NOT GOOD BUSINESS! Double check to ensure you are the only appointment on their books for the agreed upon timeframe, so you are sure they will arrive when they say they will. read more

Aqhi did a job on my condo complex in Newport Beach. The workers were all very polite and clean. They laid plastic on floors for protection and put up containment signs everywhere. The job was very fast and Aqhi was the most affordable in the industry. The bags were picked up the same day the job was done. Great job and fair price. they did my attic vents that were wrapped with asbestos for 725 there were no extras. they removed everything the right way with negative air flow vent and signs and contained area. very professional and exactly on time. I would not expect them to be on time because some jobs might take longer than others but in my case they were there to the minute. They had a proper labeled transport truck come the next day after they were done to haul away the hazardous waste in labeled bags. No extra charges all included for that price. The price they quoted was the price I paid. She said there was a fixed price for a single AC system if you have 2 the second would only be half price. Because of setup time. Totally made sense to me and I was surprised because most people bate and switch. another company quoted me 250 for an estimate. she said 725 all inclusive with a fixed price size of the house didnt matter. read more
