I've come to that age in life where all my friends are starting to get married. It's like the opposite of the movie Wedding Crashers, where they have fun crashing weddings the day wedding season starts. I, on the other hand, feel the pressure of being in a relationship and unmarried. What I meant to say was I'm so happy for my friends... yea. Anyway, wedding season means suits, and a couple of them. Maybe it's just me but I'm never comfortable with people trying to sell me something, even if I want it! So being asked to enter every second tailor I pass makes me suspicious. I was going to enter, but then you asked me to enter and said you'd give me a discount. Oh boy, that makes me suspicious. I'm going to get a suit, but only from some one that doesn't want to sell it to me. The human psyche at its most moronic. Maybe it's just me. Luckily enough, while I was still a student, I happened to meet a lovely young lady whose family runs a tailoring shop. She never asked me to visit, or offered a discount which made me extremely eager to see the place. Remy Fashions is a small shop run by a man named Gary. He's obviously good at what he does because he sized me up the moment I stepped in the door. With an easy smile and measuring tape he confirmed my dimensions, and from there explained to me the different materials available, which ones for which climates, why I should have two buttons instead of three. Fashion things that I had no clue about. Two days later I returned for the first fitting. Gary wasn't there but his son was. The man was just as professional but slightly more convincing when it came to fashion tips, I suppose because his age was not far from mine! Another two days and I was able to pick up the final master piece, for a master piece it was, and still is. It's easy to feel like a VIP while being measured from head to toe for a suit that will only look good on you and Remy Fashions do it with precision and perfection. Since then I've returned to have another suit made... for another wedding... not mine.

I am very particular about my clothing and Larry Rashmi and his family are very particular about doing excellent work and satisfying their customers. Look no further, you have found the best. As I walked through Tsim Sha Tsui, I was hassled and hustled by nearly a dozen different hawkers, trying to get me into their shops. "One day! Three Suits!" "Custom shirt for you!", but I knew better. No one can make a decent suit in that short a time. I brought my own fabrics from around the globe to Larry. He was able to work with some of them but not all. He made no excuses, but simply showed my wife and I why certain fabrics would not be appropriate for certain clothing pieces. He was very polite and had a wonderful sense of humor, all the while remaining extremely professional. We were in Hong Kong for two weeks. After our initial consultation and choosing some of Rashmi Custom Tailors fabrics to compliment my own, Larry called me back a few times to check for proper fit. I consider this important attention to detail. This made the shirts, vest and pasts fit perfectly. Then, Larry was very patient with me. He measured twice and cut once. The results are exquisite. I had a vest and pants made of pink corduroy and several custom shirts. All fit perfectly. I would only recommend Rashmi Custom Tailors to my friends and colleagues. So when I visited Hong Kong a number of years ago and saw the rows and rows of British style tailor shops, I was inspired. I was in Hong Kong (Kowloon) for less than a week, so it appeared to me to be impossible to get myself a handmade suit in that time. But lo and behold in Hong Kong it only took four days. And the price was hundreds of dollars less than in London. After a fussy fitting and a cup of tea I was in business. I chose a light grey single breasted pleated and cuffed classic suit, that smacked of a Caucasian colonialist in a hot and humid country; though I didn't realize it at the time. All I knew was that four days later I had a perfectly fitted handmade suit that lasted me for ten years. I only wish that I had bought six.

My husband was the one ordering the suit and we entered for an initial consultation. Discussed fabrics and style. Measured allllllll over. First fitting of suit was the next day. Few adjustments. Return to pick up suit for final fitting. WOWWWWWW what a fit. Perfect! Very happy with the suit and service. Oh and the scottish short-eared cat was adorable. The second one is for my graduation and job interviews and I made that here. I am definitely rather clueless about suits. I mean, yes I know what looks good and what not but all those jargons seem to be a foreign language to me completely. You can easily see this place when you are on the Central slash mid-levels escalator, and I have to say this place caught my attention as I was lining up to swipe my octopus card. There was a banner hanging outside and it seemed this place has got quite a few media coverage so I gave it a go. The price range here differs but the cheapest one would be HKD$3600. Like I said I do not know much about suits so I basically put my faith on the staff there and I have to say they all are very attentive and the younger staff definitely is more informative and gave me nice ideas. The suit took a month to be done so you would have to come by for the first and the second fitting. However, if you are in a hurry, they do have a fast pickup service but that might cost a few more hundreds. Anyway, I am rather pleased with the product and especially the service.

From the moment I walked into the store, Vijay was extremely courteous, professional, and knowledgeable. He explained to me the entire process, and was patient as I asked many questions. He did not pressure me to buy or to upgrade, but simply tried to find out how he could serve me better. I ended up getting a tuxedo, vest, and custom tuxedo shirt. I was so pleased with the process after the first day, that I ordered 2 more custom shirts when I came back for my fitting. I needed 1 more adjustment on the vest, and Vijay was happy to do everything in order to make me happy. Unfortunately, Vijay had let me know he had to leave the day I was to receive the shirts. Everytime I goto Hong Kong I go get dress shirts made since I can never find my size in the US…read more Once I spent 40$ on a slim fit brooks brothers shirt, and an additional 60$ trying to get it tailored to fit, and it still didn't fit well. Waste of $100 overall. Shirts here cost $40-$45 US. You can add tons of customization to your shirts including stitching your initials to the sleeves, inner collar with different color, different types of buttons, make untucked button up shirts. Seriously for $40 sign me up. I have tried Sam's Tailor (meh seriously horrible, only brand name becuase tons of US presidents and soccer stars have been here), L&K tailors (also bad but had a good price at the time) but Jantzen seems to do a pretty solid job. Currently have 22 shirts from them.
