I live in Long Beach, CA and was planning a wedding at Green Gate Ranch & Vineyard in SLO. This meant I couldn't meet my florist a lot in person. I found April on our venue's "preferred vendor" list. I read her reviews here on Yelp and decided to give her a try. At our first meeting April was amazing. She got my idea of "bohemian modern chic" right away. Her ideas were fun and new. She even had great recommendations on the layout of the area and advice on other vendors. That was our only in-person meeting (yes, I'm crazy)--- but I trusted April and let it go--- cue Elsa---. April made an awesome Pinterest board and worked within our budget. She did very well on our following conference calls and us very organized. As you can see from these awesome photos--- she was AMAZING! Everyone talked about the decor the whole night. There were so many photo ops and just lovely flowers and foliage everywhere. She also got me great deals on pots/candle holders that I know I will use for years to come. I cannot recommend April enough. I can't say enough good things about April Flower's! This little flower shop is a SLO gem. When I am looking for flowers in the SLO area this is my #1 stop. Countless times they have put a smile on my fiancee's face, brightened my clients offices and made my mom happy on mother's day! This shop does not do your standard roses with baby's breath, but brings a much more fresh and inspired take to the flower bouquet. Every time I visit, I have noticed that they have some new or unique flower I have never seen before. They work with local growers to get the best material available, and the shop workers are always very helpful. In addition to the shop, I have also attended multiple weddings where they have done an outstanding job. In fact, I am in the middle of planning my own wedding, set to take place this September, and have decided to use April Flower's myself (I will be writing an update in September). For now... Kelsey Eitriem from April Flowers did my flowers for my wedding on 9/6/15 at The Jack House & Gardens in San Luis Obispo. She took all my ideas and made them come to life in a way that was even better than I could have ever imagined! She was easy to communicate with. April is an amazing person to have by your side throughout the wedding process! Immediately after booking her months in advance she scheduled a phone chat (since I lived 4 hours south) to talk about what our vision for the wedding was. Being a major rookie in the wedding planning area, April was able to give GREAT advice and help narrow down how we wanted the wedding to look. I was not picky at all when it came to types of flowers, I just knew I wanted loose, flowly arrangements and bouquets with lots of greenery. April was spot on! I was in awe of how beautiful everything looked when I saw it on the day of the wedding. April does so much more than just florals. She is able to envision what any type of wedding should look like. She can give suggestions on decor pieces to linens, flatware, layout etc. She even suggested what color tie the groomsmen should wear to match with the neutral toned (mismatched) bridesmaids dresses! I followed all her suggestions and the wedding came out more beautifully than I could have ever imagined! April is kind, VERY organized, prompt with emails and phone calls (not sure how when she had her second baby in the midst of the planning!), and super professional to work with! This review is a little late (I was married in May), but I spent some time looking over wedding pictures yesterday and am still blown away with the photos of the flower's. April Flowers went above and beyond for my husband and I, even though as customers we were probably a little difficult, indecisive and definitely quite the procrastinators. April is helpful, proactive, and an extremely professional florist. I can't say enough about her, especially considering that I went into the planning of my wedding having no idea what I wanted, and changing my mind daily. From just talking to her briefly on the phone, she really picked up on my personality, and helped me envision what wedding flowers I would love the best. Within 48 hours of our first conversation she had emailed me an amazing inspiration board of our ideas, and I knew as soon as I opened the file that we were in good hands. Our wedding was beautiful and the flowers were breathtaking. My husband who needed convincing about the importance of ambiance and how flowers play into that equation, will never question April Flowers again, he's been completely converted. It's obvious from her great website that she has impeccable taste...what you really can't tell from looking at it though, is what a capable and amazing businesswoman she is. I don't even know where to start with April...so maybe the beginning is the best place? I called and emailed several florists in the central coast area leading up to my wedding but I was super unhappy with the response, quotes and general lack of ...personality? When I emailed April and she responded, I had an instant connection. When I met with her in person, I hired her on the spot - handed over a deposit - she didn't demand that, of course, I just knew I wanted to have her making my wedding as beautiful as possible. April is extremely talented. Extremely. She listened to my loose descriptions / vision of my wedding day, took my budget into account and worked with me to make everything perfect. She is so responsive, attentive, organized and also tells you how it is. She is confident in her work and it shows -- which I love -- she isn't afraid to make recommendations and will work with you to make sure you have the most beautiful flowers and decor on your wedding day. I let her basically go with her gut on the table decor and bouquets after batting around a few ideas on Pinterest. On my wedding day, I was literally floored by what a beautiful job she did. I was blown away with how it all came together and how instrumental she was in making everything happen. I live in San Diego and we had our wedding at the SMR this July, so doing a mini-distance wedding required me to let go of some of the design aspects and trust the vendors we hired. Simply put, April is AMAZING. We hired April for our June 2014 destination wedding in Paso Robles. My husband and I are very laid back and really didn't have a "vision" per se of what we wanted for florals and decor for our big day, which made it difficult for us to make any decisions (every florist's nightmare, i am sure). Oh, April, April, April...where do I even begin with this amazing girl?! I suppose I'll start at the very beginning...I was a bride living in Seattle, planning a wedding in Paso Robles. Planning from afar is no easy breezy task and choosing vendors without being able to meet in person is definitely a challenge. I was struggling to find the perfect florist that would meet my style requirements {I am a tough cookie in that department! - diy bride & all!} ...that is until I came across April Flowers...and then the lights shined down from the heavens!!! I crossed my fingers, toes, eyes... you name it!...that she would be available for our date...lucky us! She was available!!! So, we had a little phone date to go over my vision...that little phone date turned into an hour and a half of amazingness! April got me & my vision straight away! That, my friends, is not to be taken for granted...it was so refreshing to speak to someone who spoke the same language! So, the visions began to come alive from there... A quick note on April's character and professionalism... I had been collecting vintage milk glass that was to be used for all of the table centerpieces. Well, being that I was in Seattle, I needed to send April all the glass (to bring it into perspective - it was over 100 pieces of glass that I had collected for nearly 2 years). Well, let's just keep a long story short - nearly half of the glass was destroyed in transit. When April delivered this news to me, my heart dropped to the pit of my stomach. But April - thank goodness for April!!! - was my hero! She did all of the investigative work - she took photos of the condition in which the boxes were received and took count of every broken piece. She then came to the rescue by lending us milk glass that she typically rents out... she was absolutely amazing in every way possible! And in addition to all of that...she is just downright one cool girl...seriously, I told her I wish we lived closer because we would definitely be hanging out if so! Okay...fast forward to the wedding day... I was getting ready on site, so was at the venue the entire day just watching it transform into my vision. Everything was just looking so perfect...I had colorful fabric banners strung in between strands of café lights, fun fans on guests chairs for the ceremony...all sorts of little details...BUT the vision did not truly come to life until the addition of April's work. This is a 2-parter...the ceremony & the reception (because both took place outside, they were set up at separate times). Part 1 - When I came down for photos, I saw the gorgeous jars of florals swinging from the oak tree we were married under...April's flawless translation of the vision...and then, all of the bouquets (especially mine!) ...gah! I was just gushing over every little detail!!! And the floral arrangements that lined the aisle were just perfection! Oh! And of course...meeting April in person for the first time was a major highlight! My photographer even snapped a photo of us (can't wait to see it!) Part 2 - as if it could get any better right??!! Well, it did! This was the most crucial...the table settings...the vision that had been burned into my mind for the months leading up to that day... When I saw April's creations, my jaw dropped to the grass! My mind was just blown away...everything - EVERYTHING - was perfection... the floral arrangements were seriously to die for!!! And then, the icing on the cake...the beautiful arrangements at the drink station, the cake table - on the cakes - every little detail was spot on. This was perfection at its best - BETTER THAN PERFECT! Truly, did you know that existed??!! We just got married last month and had a small civil ceremony. I wasn't going to do a bouquet since the wedding was small, and I wanted it to be non-traditional. We cannot say enough good things about April We had an at home wedding in early October using our neighbors' home for the ceremony and our home for the reception. From the moment we met April, she connected with all of us especially my daughter in law. They had the same vision for all the flowers which were absolutely gorgeous. But the best part was April did styling for us the day of the wedding. We had previously arranged all the furniture in both sites. The day of the wedding April and Kelsey arranged all the flowers, candlesticks, mirrors, trays and everything else we were using to decorate both places.
