The dress was very poorly done. My sister reached out to the owner of the store, nothing was resolved, they became very arrogant. Instead of helping they blocked my sister from all social media, phone services. The zipper wasn't sewed on right, the sleeves on the dress were falling apart. The rhinestones were hanging. So my braidmaids and I went to the store to see if they got their dresses, like a week before my "wedding ". Martin told me , Unfortunately we don't have plus sizes on this magazine. He continued , but we can purchase it some other magazines the plus sizes dresses for your two bridesmaids. Like 3 days pass and I call them because we had to cancel my wedding. I spoke to Apirl I believe on the phone. I told her , if I can get my money back. She reply , we can't give your money until we make some sell. I was being mindful of them . I was like ok ill let them make their sell. I let months pass. I call them last yr. The lady answered and she told me , on contract it says we can't give your money back. I told her the conversation we had . She was like well we can't do anything because of the contract. Now that I'm have my wedding this yr . I call them again to see if I can purchase at least two of my braidmaids dresses. No one answered my texts or calls So my niece went to the store like three weeks ago. She talked Martin. There is no other place I would consider buying a high end dress from. I bought my quince dress there in 2013 and my sister also got hers there in 2019 because we were so happy with the product. Martin and April worked with us to get the unique, custom dresses our hearts desired. There was no issue when we wanted to make an an adjustment to the dresses on the mannequin to fit our preferences. They were always available to answer questions and had our product ready on the agreed date. They pay close attention to detail and the details on the dress left everyone at our respective events in love. My younger sister will have her quince in the upcoming two years and there is no doubt she will get her quince dress here. HORRIBLE! Stay away!!!! that's exactly what I should've of done. If I could I would give them ZERO stars They are scammers, they charge for a quality dress but give you nothing but a horrible dress, then April the owner, "designer" has the audacity to tell me, " we cannot do anything, she wore the dress and had two fittings" well first of all, I didn't make sure the dress was properly sowed, I don't think anyone checks, as by ordering a customized dress and being charge $2400 the last thing crossing your mind is that you have to check that's properly sowed. I was not claiming the dress didn't fit her, my claim was the dress started to fall apart. April is so unprofessional, not sure why they are still in business, they destroyed my daughters night, her dream quinceañera, her dress started to fall apart before her waltz. What quinceañera wants to see how her dress is falling apart, a dress that she has been dreaming of?? April doesn't want to take ownership for what happened to my daughters dress. Instead they have blocked me I have reached out through Instagram and still nothing, lastly I've posted comments on their post, they see them and they delete them, but still will not reach out. I was given another contact, was told he was the owner, I've also reached out, he called me back once, I unfortunately missed his call, but texted him and provided screenshots of the messages I've sent to them, yet no response. We are not the first clients that they have done wrong, when I saw the other reviews, I then realized our daughter was not the first person they have ruined their special day. PLEASE AS A MOTHER, DO NOT TRUST THEM WITH SUCH IMPORTANT DAY, THEY WILL GIVE YOU NOTHING BUT A DRESS THAT YOU WILL REGRET BUYING FROM THEM, JUST LIKE WE DO. Im not one to write reviews but this time I had to. My daughters quince is coming up. Martin made sure to replicate the dress of her dreams. We went searching everywhere but had no luck. My daughter came across this shop talked to Martin and he saw her vision and made it a reality. We just picked up my daughters dress and it's everything she dreamed of and more. We are from North Caorlina and so when we had to make a trip to visit family in LA, we thought lets go find my daughter's quince crown. We wanted something unique, high end, expensive, and different from the usual crowns. We went to multiple stores in LA but nothing was what we wanted. Until we walked into this store. We found the perfect crown but the catch was they didnt have it in stock that same day. I explained to Martin that we had two days left in our trip. He promised he would get it to me next day. He did and it was amazing. Every guest of ours loved her crown and thought it was beautiful. I have another daughter that we are already planning her quince and April Black Diamond will be my go to for her very unique crown search. When walking in to this place It looked amazing they had beautiful dresses ... why didn't I give them a 5 star .. well when I went the first time I had a great experience Martin was amazing very helpful.. when they gave me the price of the dress I didn't even hesitate to pay for it well they looks as they would make exactly what my daughter wanted ... the second time we went for fitting that was not a very nice experience some how I Felt as they were rushing us felt as they did not have the patience to answer my questions and concerns I had about the dress.. I left very mad and not happy at the service .... the third time we went to pick up the dress that was supposed to be ready .. the attitude was a little better .. but Martin was still amazing and he did his best to make it a better experience... when I saw the dress we were very very disappointed it did not go (wow) to us ... I had paid so much money for this dress that did nothing to us .. the dresses are not cheap at all .. I did not want to take the dress and we left ... thank god Martin was very nice and did some adjustments to the dress and made it look amazing my daughter was very happy at the end .. thank you so so much Martin you are amazing !! Worse customer service ever I don't know where to begin !!! First of all these people are like a mafia group yes literally !!! I walked in to this place looking for a wedding dress I liked one on the mannequin and asked martin how much ? He gave me a very high price and then went down by $1000. I put that in mind and went back to San Diego . I made another trip two weeks after and brought my elderly mother on a rainy day. I walk in and see thd dress infront of me and asked him if I. Can try it on so I can decide if I'll take it TODAY! He said no it's not avaliable to try on we r doing a photo shoot . I asked is it avaliable for sale? He said yes the dress has not been sold yet but come back another day. I explained to him I cannot come everyday I live in San Diego and it's along drive and mom is with me I have to try it on before I purchase anything like that come on it's a wedding dress not buying a corn dog! He then said ok I'll talk to APRIL the owner and come back in two hours. I waited two hours in my car with mom in the rain and went back he finally let me try on the dress. As I was going to take the dress and call it a day he then tells me that it does not include the underskirt petticoat that's another $400 ! My eyes went so big at that moment I felt being so disrespected and fooled around with all these back and forth messages and discussions I don't know if martin has anything to do with this or he's just a worker but I think the owner is lame and she does not have any sense of customer service this place is trash and is not with $3500 for a dress fabric they got from turkey !!!! Turkey has the cheapest beautiful fabric and even if you design it it wouldn't be worth that much ! It's been a few months since my wedding and I couldn't bring myself to write a negative review because I abhor confrontation however this was certainly the reason why I felt so unappealing, uncomfortable, cheated and ridiculed on my wedding day. They over promised and under delivered that's exactly what happened with my wedding dress. The owner measured me and assisted me personally initially, subsequently she agreed to sign a contract where it was established that my dress would arrive in June and be fully ready for pickup that same month. I went in for my fitting in early June as agreed to and she did not have it ready, her mother measured me again very angrily. I went back in early July to pick it up and still the alterations where not complete, I went in one last time in August to pick up the dress and it was still not complete to that they assured me it would be finished that day altered in an hour, with finger stains, wrongly placed alterations, they chopped up some fabric to shorten it and it was completely uneven. After having left very drained emotionally due to the lack of empathy and rather unprofessional environment, I remember getting in my car crying feeling extremely frustrated with my situation. They knew my husbands father had passed a month before, and that his brother left his world two months before that, they knew what I was going through driving 3hours back and forth every time yet I was still just a number to them. I wasn't wealthy enough for them to be caring if my needs, to care for the dress that I worked so hard for. If you are a bride please please please I can't not stress enough please do not buy from April's Black Diamond, you will not be treated kindly, or with any sort of respect for that matter. If I could give negative stars I would!!!! This place although their samples are gorgeous is a total rip off. I took a very simple design for a pin up wedding dress which should have been an easy no brainer for them ended up being the dress from hell! After two months of trying to get a hold of the store to get an update with no response I finally went in for my fitting appointment after calling to confirm my appointment only to hear the store person act as if they didn't even know who I was or that I had an order there. Then when I complained about it I was told it would look different when the corset was on. I explained that the waistline and top and skirt were all wrong. All I was told was that it would look different when they added the corset. The next day I got a text saying it would be an additional $150 to make the corrections. When I complained I was told to come Monday to work it out. I showed up Monday and the seamstress wasn't even there. I was told that because I wasn't the size of the mannequin that of course it wasn't going to be the same and why am I complaining over a $400 dress that they have $4000 dresses without complaint. If it were made right or even offered to be fixed without further insult perhaps I would have wanted the messed up dress even though it was the wrong material as well. When I asked for my deposit back because of all these issues I was told no no refunds. I wouldn't recommend this place at all. I had the most horrific experience as a customer when dealing with my bridesmaid dress. We went to this place our order for the dresses. We went in April 24th and got the dress on August 26th I believe (late august for sure). Every bridesmaid dress fit them big except for mine. The dress was ordered one size too small. That catalog fitting size chart said I was a small and they ordered an extra small. I told the dress consultant Martin that it didn't fit me, he was shocked. He said he couldn't exchange it because once the dress leaves the warehouse where he picks it up, they can't take it back. He offered to put a corset. I insisted on getting the a small so he called and he got the warehouse to exchange it for a small. I said i'd pay the $25 restocking fee, even though it wasn't my fault. Martin then told me to come the next day. Before I went to pick it up the following day i called him to confirm he had my dress and he said no he can put a corset. (He didn't even call me to tell me). I went and told him it was fine, just order me a medium. He said okay call me tomorrow. I called him and he told me that there was no more medium but he can put a corset. At this point i'm irritated, I call the warehouse to see if he was lying and he wasn't but the warehouse told me they had ran out of my size two weeks ago. So if Martin would have placed the order when we went to place it, I would have gotten my dress size. So I had no choice but to get the corset. So I went in and he tells me to come back in an hour to an hour in a half. I come back into the store and the dress was cut too short in length, and the corset itself was ugly. It reminded me of the hoops for shower curtains. They didn't even remove the zipper. The corset was pointless because you could still see my back, i might as well have just worn the zipper down without a corset. On top of that the corset was falling apart. I pointed it out and asked them to fix it and to add some type of fabric behind the corset. I was there for a while, but i didn't mind waiting as long as my now ugly dress was put together well. It was getting closer to closing time and I can hear the men struggling in the back to fix my dress. At some point there were back there laughing. Then the guy Francisco (tried to be as helpful as possible) asked Martin to help him in the back and Martin said he was busy laughed and didn't bother helping him. Martin then came up to me and told me that i had to come the following day to pick up the dress. I told him i couldn't, he continued to say that he has things to do that he has to leave. He kept arguing and contradicting himself on other things he had already said. He insulted the bride. I drive from Pomona and i pay for parking and because he has things to do he wanted me to come back the day before the wedding as if I didn't have things to do myself. After the poor customer service and mistakes I kept it cool the whole time, never disrespected him but he was taking advantage. I told him I'd like to get ahold of management or him to get ahold of them but for some reason it was always a no can do. Martin just had the nastiest attitude. Martin was the dress maker who made and created the wedding dress of my dreams!!!!! It was indescribably gorgeous! He even added hand made beaded off the shoulder sleeves I requested and tear drop crystal Jewels on the bodice. Every detail was tailored made to fit me. My goodness it was made to perfection! What can I say I'm a plus size bride and I was skeptical about going to different shops since they just have maniquíes with skinny body types! I walked trough all of broadway and its surroundings as I traveled from Stockton I tought I wouldn't find anything I liked until I stepped foot in here and right away I feel in love with my dress It had some things I wanted to personalize and the clerk Martin was amazing wow I couldn't have Made a better choice than to work with him. I told him what I wanted and how I wanted it and that was it! At first I tought to myself why am I traveling all the way to la 3 times for a wedding dress, but today when they gave me my dress ready for the big day I am so happy i choose Martin to design my dress and April black diamond as my dress provider! If I could give this place 0 stars I would! By far the worst experience when it comes to buying dresses. I went in April to look for my bridesmaid dresses and after deciding on a dress Martin took my bridemaid's measurements and said he would have the dresses by August 5th. On 8/5/16 I called to make sure he had the dresses and I was told that he did not have the dresses because two of my bridesmaids went on a different date than the others. He told me he would have all the dresses in the following week. I called a week later to ask if he had the dresses and he said he did and could be picked up. One of my bridesmaids called on Sunday 8/14/16 and was told by Martin that he did not have the dresses since they were at a warehouse and that they wouldn't be available until 8/15/16 in the afternoon. I called that Friday to check that he had the dresses and was informed that he did. I went to pick up the dresses on 8/25/16 (20 days after the dresses were supposed to be delivered) and was told by Martin that the dresses were at a warehouse. I asked him to call and have them dropped off and he said the warehouse was closed. I asked him if he could deliver them to my house the next day since he had causes an inconvenience in making me go all the way to LA from Ontario when he said he had the dresses. He said he could make that happen. The next day I called multiple times throughout the day and was told that the dresses were still not sent out for delivery. I asked Martin if he could wait for me until 7:15pm since he closes at 7:00pm so that I could pick up the dresses. He said he would wait, but on my way there I called him to let him know I would be about 5 minutes late and he said he had already left. I asked him when he would give me my dresses and he said "Tomorrow" I told him I couldn't drive back tomorrow and he said I had 5 minutes to get to the store. I finally got the dresses and thought I was done dealing with Martin, but I was wrong. All the dresses were sizes too big, and one of them was too small. I called Martin to ask if he could exchange the dress that was too small and he was rude and said it wasn't his fault that the dress was too small and that he had not done the contract with me. We had to get all the dresses altered and even had to add a corset to the dress that was too small because Martin wouldn't change any of the dresses that he measured wrong! read more
