I was sick. You know the kind of sick that only happens on Saturday when your PCP is closed for two more days. Sick-sick - the kind that you just know shouldn't wait until Monday. I had an incessant cough - so bad that I was having trouble catching my breath. (Why I didn't tear my husband away from his football game and take me is still a mystery.) I hadn't been to urgent care since the middle of Covid. I figured I might as well go back to the last place I had been. They were close and in the past, quick. I got there to find them closed with a homeless person passed out in front of their entrance. Now where to go? I've had more than my share of lousy service at AFC so I continued to look. I saw Approxie care on the list of sites. I was a good 10 miles away but I at least knew where it was - I had received a (drive-thru ) Covid test there. I arrived to find one other family in the waiting area. I grabbed a mask, quickly checked in and sat in the corner to distance from the others. Check in was easy, you know the drill - hand over your cards, fill in the papers on the clipboard and have a seat. No different from most any medical encounter. I waited no more than 10 minutes when I was escorted into the exam room. A young girl - high school young - took my vitals, asked me about what was going on and swabbed me for Covid and the flu - pretty routine. In the back of my mind I wondered how a teenager was qualified to work there but she told me it was her third year in the medical program at Bob Jones. Later when I thought about it, I was impressed that Approxie was actively supporting our young people in their career paths. Dr Shah soon came in, listened to my chest - he didn't need to ask me to cough. I'm sure had heard me through the walls. He asked a few questions, listened to my chest and diagnosed me. Apparently my symptoms were textbook for walking pneumonia. It was just a gut feeling, but Dr Shah's bedside manner immediately made me trust him. He did do a chest xray to reassure me as bronchitis and I are no stranger. He prescribed a breathing treatment and antibiotics and sent me home with the standard rest and hydrate and like that, less than an hour after I entered the building, I was driving home. The only issue that I had was that Dr Shah told me to do the breathing treatment twice a day but my orders and prescription both said once a day. By the time I called the office to confirm, they were closed. The medicine had me feeling better in a couple of days though 3 weeks later I still have a cough. Approxie definitely isn't the most convenient place to my home but if and when I or a family member needs urgent care, this is the place we are coming too. went in for a Covid test. They also tested me for flu without my knowledge. I received a bill for flu test charges. My complaint is why wasn't I told about the flu test? When I spoke to billing I was told the charges are valid. The payment is $15 but it's the principle of the matter. I was billed for services I wasn't told about. I've been going here since they've opened. Always got professional care. At the first of this year, 2023, I walked in with covid, but they said i was negative, also a week later they didn't test correctly again, this ineptitude kept me from getting treatment for at least two weeks. But today probably did it for me. My insurance hasn't changed, $20 copay for office visits, the girl at the window stressed that they could only see me for one thing, (I've been having headaches AND some places on my scalp), I presume symptoms of the same thing. Dr. Shah told me I felt like I was entitled. What am I entitled to? Good customer service from a paying customer. No one is providing me a service for free or as favor. Yes, I am entitled to be treated with respect. Most unprofessional clinic ever. After making this post Dr. Shaw and another employee called me to they no longer want my business. I waited 8 days for my results. I was told by doctor why do I have sense of entitlement. I asked how do I have a since if entitlement to receive a service that my insurance company is paying. I down right got into a shouting match with a doctor. He was more concerned with a 1 star rating then providing healthcare. I am shocked and appalled by their behavior and I have never been treated so rudely by any business. Before hanging the phone up in my face he told me to never come back. The worst service ever. I asked him why could have you not called me to rectify the situation. I told him I could change the post if you were apologetic, but was met with antagonism. I gave him several opportunities to de-esclate the situation. I even explained to him that if there is back log in test results, just pick up the phone and explain what's going in. A message could have been included in the voicemail explaining that test results have been delayed. This office is very unprofessional. After making several attempts to call and left several messages with no response. After making this post I received a response with in the hour. I went to Approxie Care on Monday June 29, 2020 for COVID-19 and I was it would take 2-5 days to receive my results. Today is July 7, 2020 and I still haven't received my results. I made a phone call everyday after the second day and reach anyone in the office. I was repeatedly sent to voicemail and no one from Approxie contacted me to inform me of my results 8 days later. I understand that a lot of people are taking test but to not respond at all is unacceptable. I could see you maybe being to busy to call, but I can't even call the business and get someone to pick up the phone. It you want prompt service don't go to Approxie Urgent Care. After making this post I received a very nasty phone call from Sharon Smith of Approxie Urgent Care. She told me she wasn't happy about my post. I would assume that she is a representative of the company. She told me that my test results were not available and that I should take responsibility for my own care by registering at the patient portal for Quest Diagnistics. I asked her why no one picked the phone up on Thursday, Friday, Monday and Tuesday when I called. She told me they were extremely busy because of a national pandemic and they don't have time to call all their patients. She explained they were closed on Friday and Monday. I asked why dont you hire additional people to have better customer service to deal with the pandemic. Her response was we are doing the best we can. She ended the call with you should find someone else to handle your personnel care. I thought the first rule if customer service was the customer always right. Ms. Smith was very unapologetic and she didnt attempt to assist, but attack. To be honest i was offended by her tone. After making my second post Dr. Shaw called me and told me that he would cancel my test with the lab. He also states that he doesnt want my business. They won't submit a claim to our insurance company for things covered by our insurance. It is very inconvenient for us to submit a reimbursement to our Blue cross blue shield of Alabama. This is 2020 and should be very easy to submit a claim like every other doctors office we have been too. We called around to other urgent care clinics and they are all taking the insurance. A truly disgusting facility, ApproXie Urgent Care Madison they deny people who are sick and tell them to go else where, I had over 4 symptoms of COVID-19, as well as my girlfriend having tested positive less than two weeks ago, whom I live with, and they refused to test me because they said "I should go to the emergency room" instead, as well as telling me they didn't believe me about my symptoms, turning away someone who has major symptoms is unethical and malpractice, and I'm disgusted that a place that is supposed to be there to help the sick turns them away. read more

I tried to use this urgent care one other time before for my son but because he was a week away from being "old enough" to be seen by them they wouldn't see us. Okay...it is what it is so I went somewhere else. This time around I brought my husband here because he had an accident while working outside and needed to be seen. I drove as quickly as possible to this urgent care because it came highly recommended, it was the closest one to our home and honesty we couldn't really afford the much higher copay at an ER at this moment. They refused to see him because they were "closing in 10mins". Why have hours if you're not going to stick by them? Even restaurants will take customers a minute before they close but a medical practice can't be bothered?? Needless to say I just found it really unprofessional and we won't be returning. My daughter had been complaining of a sore throat for a couple of days. No fever just throat hurting and mild stuff nose. I decided to take her to urgent care to hopefully get her some relief.   I was super disappointed and furious with how they handled things. First off I looked in my daughters throat before going and saw red spots and it was very swollen. So I asked for a strep test. The nurse came in and swabbed for the strep but then had an additional test and I stopped her and asked her what that was for. I did not request any other test and she wasn't going to disclose what she was testing my daughter for until I asked her. She then said the same symptoms she shows, they have been seeing a new strain of flu. Now I was got off guard but said ok. Then the nurse practitioner came in and NEVER looked in her throat and asked a couple of questions and then walked out to get the test results. She came back and said negative for strep and flu but positive for covid. Now first off how did they test for covid without asking my permission to test her. That nurse, when I asked, DID NOT tell me that was a covid test only a flu test. She clearly withheld information. In addition, since when did one test swab test for both flu and covid? Very suspicious are they the same thing? This is extremely DISHONEST and UNETHICAL. I am furious with their handling and dishonesty. They are required to disclose all information per patient rights. All they care about is that stupid positive covid test not the patient! For goodness sake my daughter is 9. I want to report them to an ethical board. This has gotten so out of hand. I bet they get funding based on covid positive results. Any guidance how to pursue this? These nurses and doctors should care about the patient by examining them and listening to them before just sticking a stick up someone's nose! In addition, I took my daughter to another urgent care. And they only tested her for strep and did not push anything else AND the doctor looked at her throat and said that looks like a nasty case of strep!!! read more

I came here first thing in the morning to try to kick this ear infection and a terrible cough. He ignored the cough completely and SAID he would prescribe me antibiotics for my ear. It's 1:30. They have yet to order my prescription and refuse to answer the phone after 1 phone call. They will take the $175 to see you. But don't except to be treated here. read more

I have had a bad sore throat for a few days. I decided to go to urgent care to hopefully get some relief. Everyone was very nice but I was super disappointed with how they handled things. First off they immediately wanted to do a covid test. I expected that even though i really didn't care to have it done. Not once did they ask to look at my throat. No one tried to to a strep throat test even though I've had a sore throat for 4 days. I was positive for covid but getting the test didn't help with my sore throat. They just said it was part of covid. Then she asked if I wanted a shot or pill for steroid treatment for my throat. I opted for the pill because I hate needles. After a little bit I changed my mind and went to the back again to ask about the shot. That was when she told me because my heart rate was so high I can't do the shot because it would make it jump higher. She then told me I'd have to monitor my heart rate with the pills too because it could make it go up too high as well so I need to be careful. Had I not gone back there to ask about the shot I never would thought about monitoring my heart rate after taking the pills! I'm so disappointed and will never go again when I'm not feeling well. Would give 0 stars if I could. Before I forget to add this part I brought my two small daughters and the doctor had the audacity to tell at them !!! Came in and the female doctor (I don't know if there is more than one physician) asked what was going on I began to tell her how my muscles were tending up uncontrollably if used them like horrible charley horses in my throat area, biceps, stomach you get it everywhere if I used that muscle. I also informed her I have fibromyalgia and she immediately stopped me there and told me she would not treat chronic illness'. I ask her to please help me I just needed temporary relief until I can get in with another doctor. She performed no physical exam or anything. She wrote me a prescription for a mild muscle relaxer that did absolutely nothing at all for me and a steroid pack. I was in agony for the next 2 weeks waiting on an appointment with my doctor because I could not afford to go to the ER. I paid them a $50 copay and they have the audacity to send me a bill for $60 ! I called confused because I have never had a remaining amount after paying my copay at the regular doctor, specialist, urgent cate or the ER. They told me it was because my deductible hadn't been met. What ?!? I called my insurance they said that they paid ApproXie Urgent Care the remaining amount owed minus the $50 I had already paid. I called and let ApproXie know and they said I still owe them lolololololol uh no. Turn that shit over on my credit if you have to but you will not get another dime out of me !!! Why on earth would anyone pay $110 for a 2 minute chit chat with the doctor and medicine that didn't work but I paid $30 for that on top of the visit cost. read more

I must say pleased with the care my son received at this facility. His pediatrician office closes at 12 on Fridays. I picked him up from school and he had fever of 103. This is what happened to us! My wife is a foriegn national who wanted to go home and see her family! One of the requirements is to get a COVID "PCR" test even though we have both been vaccinated! So here is my experience as an International Traveler trying to use ApproXie. Not knowing where to get the PCR test, I went to google and ApproXie was listed as an option that was close to our location. I called the ApproXie office and asked if they in fact did do the PCR test to meet the international travel requirements, and how long it would take to get the results back, so my wife would have the proper documentation for the airline at both port of departure and port of entry. The staff member seemed to be very knowledgeable and informative. It was recommended that we come in for the PCR test on Thursday as her travel day was on the following Sunday. As they could not guarantee results would be back in less than 24 hours. Also told me the cost for a PCR test is $150.00 When we arrived on Thursday morning (took day off work) there were approximately 8 patients in front of us. We got to the window we were asked why we were there. Our reply was, "for a PCR test!" The window clerk replied, "for traveling?" Our reply was yes a PCR test. We were then given a patient form to fill out. When we returned we were asked for license and payment for only $125.00 (insurance will not cover this cost). After maybe a 20-25 minute wait spouse was called back. Given the test which seemed to be correct. After only 10 minutes we were given the results. We asked, "if this was so we could return to get the PCR results, and when?" The reply was, "that this paper was all we needed then said she was sorry took the document back to circle and initial." Silly me thinking after asking for a PCR test and mentioning PCR for international testing numerous times. That the clinic new what we needed and how to do the documents! Well yes you guessed it we were wrong, the $25.00 cost difference should have been our 1st clue something was amiss! The short amount of time to get the results should have been another clue, we didn't realize it until she arrived at Atlanta getting ready to board the international flight that ApproXie charged us for and gave us a rapid test that isn't worth the paper it's printed on! At this point she had two choices; return to huntsville (loose the money already spent for the international ticket) and return for the correct PCR test, or continue onto her final destination and agree to quarantine when arrive final destination. So when my spouse arrived at the final destination she was escorted to a quarantine hotel that we have to pay for an unplanned 14 day hotel stay out of our pocket! When I returned to the ApproXie clinic on Monday to ask why and what could be done to correct it the same Clerk at the check-in window checked and claimed that the correct test was taken that was charged! He finally owned up to making a mistake on Thursday as he was having a bad day! He did offer to do a retest, however it was too late as my wife was already in quarantine! He then asked what he could do! And what I wanted to happen! At that point I figured if I have to tell you it would be a waste of my time, and walked out the office! In the future when traveling abroad and needing another PCR test we will not go to the ApproXie clinic. We will drive the hour and thirty minutes to a clinic in either Nashville, TN or Brimmingham, AL which according to the online reviews are better than the ApproXie clinic! So I am writing this review in hopes that no one else will get caught up with the inconvience the ApproXie clinic has caused us just because a "staff member was having a bad day!" and save you few dollars and alleviate some headaches! So Iam giving 1 star only because I can't give any lower! read more

I went to Approxie Urgent Care today for the first time and I was thoroughly impressed! The office staff are professional, polite and efficient. The office is extremely clean and welcoming. Their sign outside and google reviews say "No Wait" and they were absolutely right! I was checked in by the receptionist, filled out my new patient paperwork, was seen by triage to obtain vitals, brief medical history and my reason for visiting and brought back to a room all within 7 minutes from the time I walked through the front door. The doctor was very personable, knowlegeable and efficient. I was treated and back out the door on my way home....total office visit time from start to finish was 22 minutes! Unbelievable! Hands down the best urgent care in the area. I came down with flu this weekend and by the time I reached ApproXie, I was very ill. In fact, I fainted in their waiting area while I walked up to hand in my paperwork. I can't say enough good things about the care I received from Dr. Shah and his staff. I required IV fluids and some meds to get me back on my feet. The doc and nurses were quick, thorough, efficient, and so kind. It's the only urgent care I'll see in the area and will be likely to use them over my primary care physician. read more
