I wasn't a perfect student but no kid deserves to be treated like they're an idiot. I went to CSHM high school from 9-12 grade and for the first time in my life I actually had some teachers that treated me with respect and I went from a D-F student at SBS to a solid B student at CSHM. I would not recommend any parent send their kids here. It's not worth it.

The spectators had to sit upstairs which is ok but the bleachers and floors were just dirty. There were cups, leftover food and chip bags everywhere. We had to pay to watch the game, it would have been nice if the staff cleaned and cleared out the mess before the game started. The restroom were clean, which was nice. Also, bc we were seated upstairs, some elderly members and others with mobility challenges had a difficult time getting up there. It would have been nice if there was an elevator or special seats on the bottom floor. There was also snack available and the staff were friendly. Plenty of parking available.

I attended Macy when it was called Grandview. Mr. Macy was our principal. He was a good man, very…read morededicated and well respected. I use to help him with the outside platform for our Friday assemblies. I remember he even took a group of us to a basketball game and he paid for everything. Back then they gave the boys swats for misbehaving. He had a huge wooden paddle hanging on the wall behind his desk. It was almost like a trophy. When he died it was a sad time for the school. They even had a small plaque placed at southeast end of the park. It was a vey nice ceremony with students and city officials. That's when they officially changed the school's name to Jack Macy Elementary. They later shortened the name for some reason to Macy Elementary. I recently took my family to the school, so they could see where I attended school. To my surprise the old gate kickball backstop was still there in the field. What really supposed me was the fact that the plaque honoring the Mr Macy had been destroyed and grass was covering where it was. It was obvious the school had not taken any action to replace it, as if the principal was lost in time. I hope the current principal sees this post and looks into it and replaces it. The history of the school should stay alive and not lost with time.

Our two kids who are now 3 and 5 years old have attended Meher since they were 2 years old. Our…read morelove for the school was truly put to the test when the Altadena campus (and also our home) burned down in the Eaton fire earlier this year. We had a choice to make whether we wanted to continue on, meaning a much longer commute and many more hours each day away from our little ones so they could attend the other campus in Monterey park. We made the right decision to stay with Meher. The school went above an beyond to wrap around its impacted families during this crisis. When we were displaced we were even invited into a zoom class room so the kids could stay connected to their classmates. They did not fall behind, and had a loving environment to return to when we came home. We trust their approach to normal misbehavior and conflict between kids, and the kids trust that when they are there their needs are met. The structure is comforting for them and the lessons engaging. We love that the school has a loving and professional approach to child development. We feel there is a real investment in our kids learning how to do things on their own, which we have noticed contributes to their confidence and eagerness to discover and learn. The teaching staff is well versed and continuously learning how to be great teachers. It is not "childcare" it is truly school in a way that sets the kids up for confidence and success. We feel lucky to be part of this community and after looking at other options, are clear this is the right place for our little ones.
