An appointment with Applied Pressure is consistently the best part of the day. I have a somewhat complicated medical history, and I live with stress, tension, aches, and pains like most adults do. I have searched unsuccessfully for a massage therapist that would truly help me feel physically, mentally, and emotionally better after working with them. Have you ever invested your time and money into a massage session and then left feeling like, well, that was just OK? This will not be that kind of experience. This could be life changing for you. When I stumbled upon Dena with Applied Pressure, it felt as though the universe had handed me a gift. You will never regret giving your business to Applied Pressure. Your body will thank you for investing in your wellbeing if you choose to make Dena part of your personal care plan. I appreciate how comfortable it is to visit Dena. There is no anxiety in meeting her for the first time. Her work space is private and relaxing. Water is provided after your session to help you stay hydrated. She does not accept tips, so the price of her services is all-inclusive. She utilizes various modalities to give you the best possible treatment for your current concerns. She is astutely aware of which areas need to be worked on, and has a strong understanding of anatomy and physiology. Her intuition is truly spot-on. I trust her to help me heal, so that when I leave her at the end of my session I have a renewed sense of energy, happiness, peace, excitement, and improved mobility. Seeing Dena isn't just "getting a massage," it really is investing in your health. I can promise you that this is the massage you have been waiting for and unlike many other options available to you, this one will heal you inside and out. Get ready to relax and rejuvenate. You deserve it. Dena is passionate, an excellent communicator, and she is consistent in delivering an experience that will have you counting down the days until your next appointment. read more

Applied Pressure - Massage Therapy Near Me - St. Paul, Minnesota

Jess is an absolute miracle worker. My daughter has tried stretching, pilates, been to chiropractors and physical therapist for her tight legs and calves. Jess has been the only one who has ever been able to truly help her. Thank you Jess! read more

There are massages, and then there is truly healing bodywork - and that's the upgrade you get at Applied Pressure. I've never had a better massage than the one Danielle gave. She is PHENOMENAL. Not only did I feel immediate relief from a lot of neck/back pain, but I also noticed that I could push myself harder in my training the next day, and I just moved better. I also slept so much better afterward! There's no other place I'll be booking my massages. Applied Pressure is now hands-down, my go-to!! read more

Consistently excellent massage...for starters. When was the last time you had a meal that made you say "that was ALOT better than I expected"? Or, a music concert that left you in awe of how you felt afterwards? Fill in any number of your own personal peak experiences and then imagine yourself getting a massage that breaks open your idea of how good you can have it - that's what awaits for your first session with Dena (I've had approx. 10 of these in the last year - all top quality). Dena's winning combination includes highly skilled / intuitive hands AND feet (not "Thai"), and is as unique as it is wonderful. She is both sweet & deep, but never painful. I have had 4 hip operations in the last 2 years, and have worked hard to bring myself back into an active lifestyle, which involves lots of excercise. After I see Dena I feel better for days afterwards, and move with the giddyness of a youngster. If you want the best, get on her schedule. Just know its a busy one, so plan ahead...I promise the wait & $ will be well worth it. read more

Wow! This place is ecstasy! This is not just a "relaxation " place, this is to get your fascia worked on and all that pressure released. I just had the most pleasurable release in all my muscles. Huge success because I am so tight especially in my pecks and low back. Amanda was phenomenal, released my neck and back. I didn't want the hour session to end! I have a desk job which sucks my life out . So a biweekly visit here keeps me functioning. Can't recommend Applied Pressure massage enough!! Well worth every cent!! read more

I told Dena that if everyone were all able to get this type of massage we would live different lives. I have had different massage therapists for decades and I have never ever had a massage like this. Dena cured the tendinitis in my shoulder after months of terrible pain and the arthritis in my lower back is 100% improved. read more

There is no words to describe how amazing Dena is. My back is such a mess, some days, it feels like I need to go to the ER because the pain is so unbearable. And then... here comes Dena. She's so amazing. I can't express how gifted she is. She knows exactly how your body works. My upper back always bothers me, and I feel like I'm purposely punishing myself not going to see Dena. I'm so thankful I found her and I highly highly recommend anyone to go see her. Stop the scrolling. Stop the search. This is it. Do NOT hesitate. Dena is... A gift. An angel!!! read more

100% do not hesitate. The best massage I've ever had. Applied Pressure is the perfect place if you are looking to heal. Dena is absolutely amazing, she loves what she is doing and knows exactly what do work on, applies the right pressure. She is joyous and worked so hard! I am so amazed. Having chronic back pain for years and years, I was getting a bit depressed not being able to heal even after getting massages and chiropractic adjustments regularly. Thank you Dena! 5 stars! read more

Amazing! The BEST 90 minute massage I've had. Dena is so knowledgeable and so welcoming. She did a wonderful job explaining the benefit of new techniques and reminding me to breathe/relax when she found tension in my body. After the first 15 minutes my back, shoulders, and neck felt better than it has in years. She's so in tune with what the body is going through - she's quick to find the real source of pain. I can't recommend her enough. It was an amazing experience. I'll be a lifetime client - best kept secret in the twin cities! read more

Dena is one of the best massage therapists in Austin. I've been seeing her for years and she always does good work. Just be warned this is no fluff and buff massage. I had an amazing massage by Briana a few days ago and I am feeling better than ever. I literally can't stop talking about it! I got so used to living life with tension in my shoulders and now I feel reborn. I found applied pressure online and it stood out to me that they get down to business and it's not your typical spa experience. There are plenty of spas in Austin but I needed someone to just fix me! She also gave me some tips for how I could avoid tensing up my muscles while I'm working (I'm a hairstylist), and how to sleep better. I've been applying her advice to my daily life and feel great. Briana knows what she is doing and is so good at it!!! Thank you! read more

I went to Applied Pressure after I had hurt my calf muscles in the gym. They were tight like the muscles were all balled up and it was painful to walk. My treatment in Applied Pressure helped me back to full mobility again. Dena is bad ass read more

Probably shouldn't write a review so close to my massage high, but after 2 "meh" massages from the massage chains around town, I'm happy to spread the word. Dena was incredible. My visit was prompted by my neck and shoulders, barking from the deadlifting I did the day before. ACL Fest was the very next day and I needed some relief pronto. Dena had availability the same day, thankfully. The place is a bit tough to find with limited signage. Just look for the address on the building and stroll right in. Parking's available on the street (2 hour) or in the driveway, and either option is free. Dena welcomed me in and got right down to business. We talked initially and throughout on my fitness routine and what I was favoring that day. Dena paid attention and hit the spots I was looking to get at the pressure I wanted, but also managed to find a few bumps I didn't even know I had. At certain points I actually started hallucinating, which happens to me anytime it's a great massage. The hour zipped by with just the perfect balance of conversation and silence...a very friendly, caring atmosphere. At the end, Dena offered up complimentary water and tea, and I opted for the yerba mate (yum). A wonderful experience overall. read more

Hands down the best place to get a massage in Austin!!!! Brian is an amazing body worker. Communication with new therapists can sometimes be tough, leaving you wishing more specific work was performed. If you need great body work, you will not be disappointed. I found my new favorite place! Thank you Applied Pressure! I can't wait to come back. read more

The first thing I liked about Dena was that her instructions about how to find her suite were incredibly clear. She was very prompt, professional, and found spots I didn't even know were hurting. Since I was expecting it, having another person's feet on me was not weird (that's never a good surprise). In fact, this was far and away the best deep tissue massage I've ever had. I'll definitely be back. read more

Dena is amazing. This is the best massage I've had in Austin and it will probably be my spot forever unless I move. If you enjoy being listened to, being educated about the services provided and what they do, and feeling comfortable and attended to this is the place to go! read more

Dena is a fantastic massage therapist! Her energy was positive and her techniques were amazing! I thought I new what a good massage was until I had one by her. I should also note I'm a triathlete so I put my body through the wringer and it's nice to have someone helping me keep the machine going. Thanks Dena for the excellent service and care! read more

I've been seeing Dena for a couple of years now. I first came to her when I was an over-trained aerialist who didn't do enough rolling out and I see her now as a weight lifter who still hasn't learned her lesson to do self-care. She has saved me from many mystery pains time after time and I leave her table feeling SO relaxed and healed! I could keep talking her up, but go experience it for yourself. read more

Applied Pressure is not a spa. You will not be given a 600-count Egyptian cotton bathrobe and a pair of organic hemp flip-flops to slip on your blistered feet or a glass of champagne served in Riedel stemware while you wait in an opulently decorated lounge for your massage to begin. A "massage therapist" will not infuse your skin with essential oils, or cover your face with Dead Sea mud. No hot rocks sourced from Mt. Etna will be applied to your back. Applied Pressure is a real - sparsely, but tastefully decorated - message studio, run by one BAD ASS massage therapist named Dena, with a bit of attitude, an infectious personality, and Minnesotan work ethic. Dena will use her hands, elbows, and feet (while suspended from custom made oak monkey bars secured to the ceiling) to mend your broken body, so you can abuse yourself once again in your chosen field of sport.  My first massage therapist relationship lasted nine years, my second massage therapist relationship lasted 23 years. Some people die, others retire. It's unlikely that I will be looking for a new massage therapist anytime soon.  Be punctual, because Dena always is, and if you loose your place on her regular's list, you may be waiting a while for another spot to open up. The best massage I've ever had. Dena is amazing..it's like she was able to communicate with my muscles and ask them if they needed help. She is VERY knowledgeable and seems to know just what you need. She does not waste time, she gets right to work. I feel like my posture has instantly improved. I highly recommend her if you work out a lot. Really reached my zen and had a great nap afterwards. Can't wait to see how I feel in a couple days. 100% going back. read more

WOW! I have had several massages at different places before and I really didn't see what the big deal about massages where. Then I met Dena and decided to give it another chance. I probably had the most effective massage I've ever had with Briana. We worked on my pecs, shoulders and neck and I really felt things loosen up as the hour went by. She was very knowledgeable and intentional about discussing the process and expectations beforehand. I really appreciated her transparency and genuine way she worked with me to get the best results and value for my money. I would recommend Briana and Applied Pressure to anyone. read more

Applied Pressure is the best massage. I'm a marathon runner and having a quality massage is essential. I've tried many massage therapists and none of them come close to Applied Pressure. Shout out and a plug for Dena Marie Kinate and her business Applied Pressure just south of the river near Uchi, 809 S. Lamar. Had a deep tissue, orthopedic massage today for a nagging hip injury. Simply Amazing!!!! I could sum up Dena with those 2 words, but she deserves so much more! I don't normally write reviews, and I almost hate to write this because if you receive one of her massages you will be hooked!! I'm so afraid I won't be able to get in once the word is out, but Dena and her company "Applied Pressure " is well deserved of receiving spectacular reviews!!! I have had massages in many places, from all sorts of accredited massuse's and none have come close to Dena's skills. I have had really bad knots and neck problems and Dena has been able to not only give me relief, but explain why I am having the problems. She has truly worked my neck and shoulders in a way that no other Massuse has ever done. All I can say is, "Don't take my word for it, go get a massage from Dena and feel the magic for yourself" read more

Dena was fantastic! She took the time to ask me about my problem areas and then focused on those throughout. She was very nice and I would definitely recommend her to anyone. read more

My experience here was the best that I've had in Austin. Dena is clearly very knowledgeable about the body and understands how to work in a way that will create more balance. I get massages for the purpose of addressing my body's imbalances, and for once I found someone who listened to me and gave me what I wanted. I appreciate that Dena utilizes different massage techniques depending on what would be best for each issue. From my experience, most therapists are only skilled in one technique and tend to see the body from a somewhat narrow viewpoint. Dena has a much broader understanding and skill set than anyone I've worked with before. As a Pilates instructor (and body nerd), I see and work with bodies all day long and have a high standard for other profesionals who work on my body. Dena has not disappointed me. I highly recommend visiting Applied Pressure! read more

I run long distance and have been experiencing pain in both legs due to muscle tightness for the past year. Something that I love doing, running, was starting to not be as enjoyable. A friend had been trying to get me to go to Dena for a while and I finally did......AND WOW, I am so glad I did! After the first session with Dena, I was already feeling so much relief and started to really enjoy my runs again! Dena is knowledgeable, has a great personality, and works out of a very comfortable space! I will continue to see Dena long term and send as many people as I can her way! She is that good!!!!! read more

Dena has given excellent sports and relaxation massages. She is professional, personable and extremely attentive to your needs. The environment at the office is inviting and comfortable. Being an endurance athlete who's very hard on my body, I've had my fair share of visits with massage therapists, chiropractors, acupuncturists, and physical therapists here in Austin. Many bad ones and a few good ones. Sometimes I walk out feeling better but most of the time I walk out feeling like all I did was waste my money and an hour of my life. But of all my experiences in Austin, I have never been more satisfied than my experiences with Dena Kinate! The way I stumbled onto her is actually kind of a funny story. It was an average morning at work and I randomly struck up a conversation with a customer about health and nutrition. She mentioned that she was visiting from Germany and was in town to visit family and friends. "What are some of your favorite things to do when you visit?" I asked. She listed off a few of the usual things to do in Austin, but the last one she mentioned was, "I'm on my way from here to get a massage from a woman named Dena Kinate. She is hands down the best massage therapist in Austin! Every time I visit, I make sure to make an appointment with her!" I was intrigued. I told her about how my right hip had been bothering me and causing me to have to cut back on my training. "You have to see Dena!" She immediately said. She seemed so enthusiastic and confident in Dena's abilities that I decided to call and make an appointment. A few days later I arrived at Dena's office which is conveniently located in central Austin and a familiar building to me since I've run past it countless times. Her office is a very calming environment that is clean and welcoming. We went over what had been ailing me and she said confidently, "I'm gonna spend most of the hour on that hip and we'll get it loosened up." I agreed with the hope that I'd be able to get back into the training I was so desperately missing. I let her know that she didn't have to worry about hurting me and she could do whatever she needed to do. As I mentioned, I've been to many massage therapists and p.t.s and I can pretty quickly tell when one knows what they're doing and when one is just kind of poking around and doing the basics. I was immediately impressed with Dena's ability, knowledge, and thoroughness. She filled me in on what she was doing and why, and really pinpointed the causes of my tightness and pain. She's also extremely easy to talk to and I thoroughly enjoyed our conversation. I have now been back for two more visits and I'm happy to say that I'm back out pounding the pavement in the morning sun. I can't recommend Dena enough! If you're looking for the best massage therapist in Austin, look no further! read more

I will be an Applied Pressure loyalist for as long as I'm in Austin. As someone who experiences chronic tension in my shoulders and neck, I am so grateful for the knowledge that both Dena and Briana have. This isn't a generic massage! It is targeted specifically for what your body needs that day. Can't recommend this place enough! read more

I was in Austin this week to do some cycling and enjoy a bit of R&R. I happened to see the sign for Applied Pressure at the building where I was staying. Intrigued, I stopped in to see if there were any openings while I was in town. Unfortunately, Dena was completely booked. I asked to get on her waiting list incase she had any cancellations. As fate would have it, someone cancelled and a day later I was experiencing Dena's 'magical touch'. I'm a huge proponent of massage. As a breast cancer survivor I'm also well aware of the medical benefits of massage. I've been fortunate to experience excellent massage over the years - both in ABQ and different places I've traveled. I've gotta say, I never expected to experience one of the best massages I've ever had while visiting Austin. Dena's unique style is a blend of deep tissue massage, myofascial release, and Ashiatsu. And - for those of you who've ever experienced Lomi Lomi - her style seems to draw from that as well. Another coincidence? As I was talking to Dena after my massage, I found out that she's a fellow cyclist! If you happen to be visiting Austin, go see Dena. If you live in Austin, go see Dena as often as you can - I know I would! read more

Best message i have ever had! I have all ready scheduled my next appointment and plan on making this a weekly visit. All my other massages have felt good and were relaxing, but there was something different about my massage with Dena at Applied Pressure. She was really in tune with my body making a mindful evaluation and adjustments immediately to work my muscle that needed attention most. After my massage I felt I had improved posture, loosened tension, relaxed and all around enhanced. Location is convenient, parking was easy, the space was quiet and inviting. 5 stars and 2 thumbs up! read more

Better hope your parent doesn't die on the day of your massage while you are visiting from out of state. The manager will harass you for payment. The hardest time of my life and all she's worried about is a payment for a missed massage because my dad died at 4:30 that morning. read more

Fantastic experience!! Dena is a very skilled and tender massage therapist. Took the time to get to know where I needed the attention, and then gently yet firmly worked her magic. I feel so much looser, more relaxed and opened up now. Plan on stopping by whenever I'm in Austin again. Had a great time chatting with her as well, she's very friendly and warm with a great energy. Highly highly recommended! (Thanks to my girlfriend for the Christmas present!) read more

How wonderfully right it was going to Applied Pressure. Dena knows how to relieve, educate, feel, and believe in the body. We are not helpless. We can all feel to our greatest potential. Sometimes and most times it takes the right person and professional to wake us up into believing in ourselves.
