That kind of accountability and customer care goes a long way. While the initial experience was rocky, the owner's willingness to step in and resolve the issue speaks well of the company's integrity. I appreciate businesses that stand behind their customers when it counts. Hopefully this is a sign of the service others can expect going forward. This appears to be a convenient way to immediately deny the warranty claim. I am aware that home warranty companies like AHS often only pay a low, flat fee to contractors, regardless of the actual cost of a large repair or replacement. It seems the moment the diagnosis pointed to a major, costly issue, you decided to extract an additional $180 from me by falsely claiming "overloading" to offset the loss you would incur from AHS's low payout. This isn't just poor customer service; it has all the hallmarks of a shady business practice. You were assigned by AHS, charged me a $125 service fee, and then manufactured a false reason for denial simply because the repair was too expensive for your business model. I will be reporting this incident--including the false claims, the ignored call-back requests, the broken Google Voice communication, and the attempted additional charges based on a fraudulent "inspection"--to the Better Business Bureau, and any relevant consumer protection agencies. He turned info in to AFC and they said due to the dishwashers age (6 years) they would only authorize $208 dollars for repair or the same amount toward replacement. So I chatted several times with Melony about the pros and cons on continuing to repair (another $250ish) or just biting the bullet and buying a new one. Her and eventually my philosophy was that they could repair the electronic guts, but chances are the heating element or pump or something else would die and be hastened by our wonderful hard water. So in essence, she talked me out of further service with them and obviously less fees. Now I call that an honest and professional approach. They could have talked me into the repair, and my machine could have died again from something else fairly soon and then more money down the drain. So even though I had to order and pay more than I was anticipating, working with them was the right way to go.
