The scam goes like this. You call them for a repair. They say no service call fee. When techy arrives there is a fee which, if you go with them gets deducted from the bill. Your estimate comes several days later and it's so outrageous that you don't use them but they get to keep the service call fee. Their estimate for our stove repair was $900. BUYER BEWARE This company is a RIP OFF!. They will misdiagnose and stick you with the bill. They don't listen to legitimate issues with there service And will file with collections for payment even though issues left unresolved! They marked my freshly panted walls and ceiling, and scratched my washing machine. Also, they took apart my dryer and put it back together with parts left over. Now my dryer is making hideous noises. A hose had become disconnected from my dishwasher. I pulled it out and could clearly see the problem was a disconnected hose but thought it slightly beyond my pay grade. I called Appliance Genie. Two fellows parked in front of my house for 1/2 hour. They then knocked, came in, looked under the dishwasher and said. "A hose is disconnected. That will be $130. But we'll deduct that fee from the repair which should be about $200." I then get an additional invoice for $213 with an additional $75 deposit. So they considered charging $340 to reconnect a hose. A job that, according to the technician would take 30 mins at the most. I called to clarify and encountered a customer service representative with the all the diplomacy of a rabid wolverine caught in a rusty toothed, leg-hold trap. She immediately went on the attack, prattled on like an AR15 with a full bump stock, then hung-up before I could raise my concerns. She was beyond rude and the most ill mannered representative I've ever dealt with. UPDATE: After I posted the review I had an prompt and courteous exchange with Appliance Genie. I emailed them my concerns and they immediately returned my deposit. While I will not be using Appliance Genie in the future. However, I legitimately believe they were disappointed in their customer service and will move to address the issue. read more

I have a problem with my 65" TV...total black screen but the sound works...I tried everything it said to do online..(unplugging...soft reset...hard reset and shinning a light on it and could see writing which meant it was most likely the led backlight was the problem...so I booked an appointment with Appliance Genie...the service guy came and i explained everything and mentioned it was probably the backlights..he got out his electrical tester and proceeded to "test" the back of tv...WITHOUT even taking off the back panel to get a proper read or diagnosis...then he went out to his vehicle and made a phone call...he came back in and said I would probably need a new screen and maybe some other parts and he would send me a quote by email in a few days...he charged me $169.45 (I paid $170 because he said they don't give change back!) for his 10 minute visit!...2 days later (today) I got a phone call from them saying that they could not give me a quote as they weren't sure what other parts they would need besides a new screen and it would cost more to fix than what the tv is worth!...I contacted them back today and asked for a refund considering the NO SERVICE rip off service!...I wish I had of looked at their reviews online before I contacted them...IMO they should take the "Genie" off of their company name as I'm pretty sure they haven't figured out a way to open the bottle to let it out yet!...I'd wish for my money back if they did!...I am also writing to the BBB about this dishonest rip off company as I see they have a lot of complaints there already too! read more

Be aware SCAM business Don't get this company to repair anything, the worst service I've experienced. After charging me to diagnose a washer about $100 +tax, we had to call/ email them to get a quote ( hard to get a hold of them) , the repair cost they give us was so high , will be much cheaper to buy new washer The repair guy maybe spent 5 min , charged 100 + tax for 5 min . That's outrageous Be aware this is scammer company , they charge a fee upfront , and they give you outrageous quote , doesn't make sense to use their service . We requested refund as this is obviously a scam , will update the review when I hear back from them . We got a quote from another company ,it was less than 1/2 appliance genie quote, unbelievable Hopefully this issue will be resolved soon , and hope they do the right thing . I wouldn't recommend this place to an enemy. We needed to repair our washing machine. So we asked them for a quote. Firstly, they came over to see what was the problem. They just said the problem was the pump. Without knowledge, we believed in them. After this fix (that costed a lot!), the problem was still there. The water was not being pumped out all the time and the machine did a lot of noise. We complained and they came over again. They said if it was something blocking the water they would need to charge us again saying they looked into that the first time, if the problem was the pump, they wouldn't charge us. Obviously it was something clogging it. The object that was there was from the previous house owner. So I imagine they didn't look into the pipes before. They charged us again! After they removed the object, it started working properly. Now I ask myself... Did they even changed the first pump? If they changed, was that the real problem? read more

Nice place had the part we needed to fix the dryer filter.

They were sent to fix my dishwasher as part of best buy warranty. First of all they need to order my part which too over a week then repair man arrived and apparently changed part by doing so he broke my dishwasher completely and flooded my kitchen. I called their office but they were very casual about the whole thing and simply said they need to order more parts and once the parts arrived they will contact me. That was two weeks ago. My suggestion is stay away from these people!!! read more

WARNING: BUYER BEWARE! Rip-off artists. The nice person on the phone suggested repairing my dishwasher could well be worth their visit and preparation of a quote (cost $100+HST). The guy that came spent barely 2 mins looking at my appliances, writing down the model numbers, then sent ridiculously priced quotes for very simple work. More than $200 just to order and send me a filter that I can buy myself for about $35. Nearly $400 to replace a dishwasher soap dispenser. They're not serious. read more

Scam Artists. They came to fix my dishwasher. Parked in the driveway for 30+ minutes doing nothing. The repairman comes in and says he can fix it for $500. Does his "work" and then leaves. The issue wasn't fixed at all so we called them back. They said try this, didn't work...radio silence for weeks. They finally get back to us and want us to pay an additional $100 to come back to fix the thing they didn't fix. Got the invoice, no indication of what they did, the parts used, or a breakdown of the service. They now wont get back to me and I'm out all that money. I was quoted $580.00 to fix my stove (after the $82.00 paid initally). I decided to bite the bullet and pay for a second opinion as I was suspicious of the estimate. They only took the back panel off but managed to diagnose the stove top and front panels as well as the oven? Didn't seem right. Called in second appliance guy. $217.00 parts and install included. The oven part I was told by Genie cost $350.00. Nothing remotely close to that price was needed and ignitors I was told needed changing (not so). To add insult to injury, they tried to upsell a power converter to me to the tune of $50.00 (sold at Canadian tire for half the price). Second (and honest) estimate well worth it if you are contemplating using these guys. So happy with the friendly and helpful service I recieved from company I went with. Wish I could do minus 5 stars. These guys are not skilled in repairs. Told me twice that its worth repairing dryer so I agreed. The technician came to my house for $125 and couldn't give me rough idea of quote until hours later. They contacted me with a $450 quote and upto 2 weeks for a part. THEY DONT OFFER A PART/LABOUR BREAKDOWN ON THE QUOTE. I did the math. The part is no more than $100 at absolute max rip off price. SO THEY CHARGE $350 FOR 30 MINS OF LABOUR. That is absolutely insane. A new Samsung dryer is $599 with steam at costco. I ordered the heating element on amazon and put it in with no experience in 30 mims. This company is made of crooks. I do not recommend Appliance Genie at all --- poor/very slow service and excessive/exorbitant charges! Our LG washer showed a malfunction code indicating the water level sensor was not working properly. Despite providing Appliance Genie with this info, plus the washer Model & Serial numbers by phone (to ensure they brought the correct replacement part), the service tech came and said he had to do a diagnosis (which only consisted of taking off the back panel, disconnecting and reconnecting the water supply, and puzzling how to get the cover off the control panel! I don't believe he learned anything new about the diagnosis beyond what I had provided.) and that a quote for parts and repairs would be provided in 24 hours. Despite a further request from me 48 hours after the technician's visit, I only received the quote 8 days after the service call. And the quote was outrageously exorbitant - $360 total and 'discounted' by the $99 payment I'd made for the 'diagnostic service call, but individual costs for the part, repair service visit, special part delivery charge, etc. were not itemized. I requested a quote where these costs were itemized, and also requested a more competitive total price (noting that I would be much further ahead to start afresh and go with the 'flat-rate parts & labour' repair quote of $209 provided directly from LG). Finally, another 8 days later, I received an itemized quote but no change in the overall price! I decided then to pursue other avenues, and after watching a couple of You-tube videos, I will be ordering the part on-line ($35 + $11 shipping) from a certified LG parts provider (compared to the $99 part and $25 shipping quoted by Appliance Genie!) and completing the repair myself. (My biggest challenge was getting the cover off the control panel - but beyond that, the replacement is straightforward and easy). read more
