I recently hosted a party with friends here. We ended up using this covered picnic area that is…read moreadjacent to the restroom, playground, as well as the outdoor workout area. I had my partner call in to ask if we could reserve the picnic area, since we were pretty set in hosting our party there. They told us there was no need for reservation, as it was first-come-first served, which is cool, but also made us nervous at the same time because we had to ensure that we got there early enough to claim the area. We went there on a Sunday morning at 7 am, and it was available for us. We took several weeks to scope it out. The covered area has 6 picnic tables, as well as trash/recycle bins, BBQ area, and an electrical outlet box towards the main walkway. The outlet was very helpful for us to have our speakers. There is light inside of the box so you can see what you're plugging into. Something to note is that the tables are kind of dirty looking, so you may want to get some table cloths to cover them. The surface area of the tables are about 32 inches wide and 92 inches long. I would recommend definitely getting table cloths bigger than this surface area size, and also bring tape! It is also totally possible to hang banners at the top of the covering, but make sure you have someone tall enough to reach the beams. As for the bathrooms, they are fairly clean for a park and are spacious. There is a lot of nature which makes this park so unique. There is a lot of duck poop in certain areas, so beware! This park gets pretty busy in the evenings during the summer. The other features of District56 is that there is plenty of free parking, lots of field space, and there is essentially a senior community center with a cafe, and a recreational swimming area. As for the workout area, it is pretty nice because the have structures in which they provide guidance on how to use it, and also different level platforms. The recreational swimming area/aquatic center--you can host parties here, but it is limited in the hours you can reserve. Admission prices are pretty reasonable. On the day we went, there was a party earlier in the day, and they opened to the public around 1 pm. There was a line already forming about half an hour before opening time (lots of families), which was surprising. We perused the area, and it seems pretty nice, as there are lots of lounging areas under umbrellas. The thing that is kind of unfortunate is that the senior community center is closed on the weekends. This is important because if you're looking for a public restroom, you won't get access to that or the aquatic center unless you pay admission. Therefore, you have to walk all the way back to the park for a public restroom. I wished they put a public restroom right i between the community center and the aquatic center. All things considered, this is probably one of the nicest parks in Elk Grove!

During the winter, we stop at Valero to fill up on gas before going over the summit. But currently, we have been using the "rest stops" for our breaks. Atmosphere - Typically easy in and out. But for the last few visits, it was not easy in and out. We have been here during snow storms and you were all closed also... So you are becoming less dependable. Should we be spending our $$ in Applegate now? Auburn? 1.4 square miles, none of which is water. Population - 2,000 (2020 US Census). Service - Depends on what you do, eat, or drink. I'm born and raised all natural city girl, but let me tell you, I would move up here in heartbeat if it was possible for me. Living here is an introvert's dream! Just peace and quiet, no busy roads and traffic. Very friendly residents and just so lovely all over! There are a lot of hidden rivers, creeks, and secret water holes up here! Basically, if you know, then you know! Also, the little town of Nevada City is not too far away either! Lots of good eateries and novelty shops out there! I came up here to spend a few days at my friend's place and the pictures of her home, pretty much sums up the beauty of Colfax! She did tell me she has some tenants that don't exactly pay rent. She does live on a few acres, so her night and day tenants are: Bears Mountain Lions Bobcats Coyotes Raccoons Possums Deers And also it snows up here too and when it snows it SNOWS! Mother nature will really DUMP that white powder up there like nobody's business! Prepared to be snowed in for a few days a week or so. Just some things to consider if you ever wanna live in this beautiful little country town!

The Community Center at District 56 in Elk Grove is the newest addition in the City of Elk Grove…read more It has its parking lot at the Civic Center Dr entrance, or you can also park your car at the Elk Grove Aquatic Center parking at the Big Horn Blvd entrance. The new Community Center is enormous, and the landscaping is beautiful. You can set up your event here or just come to a relaxing. It is currently open from 9 am to 6 pm Monday to Friday only. Saturday and Sunday are closed. The cafe next to the main entrance has outdoor seating. You can enjoy a cup of coffee or some snacks there. This is a lovely area to visit when you're in Elk Grove.

During summer there are many community events held here including Roseville's Downtown Tuesday Night where every Tuesday night from May to July (except July 4th) they close off most of Vernon Street to bring in over 100 participating vendors, live entertainment, great bands, a kid's fun zone, arts and crafts, delicious foods, a Classic Car Show, and a wine and beer garden. Even though I owned a house here for 9 years that was an income property, I never seriously considered to live in it. Thought I'd live in Sonoma until I died. Well, at the behest of my adoptive Roseville family and the urging of my wife I capitulated to move. And after 10 months of being here I'm diggin' it. I actually like Roseville with an 85% approval rating. I like the excellent infrastructure. The roads are mostly in excellent condition. The tap water is drinkable without crinkling my nose. There's tons of retail for anything I could possible need or want. Lots of good mom n' pop reasonably priced restaurants. I have no children, my neighbors who do give the public school system high approval. Only have one major complaint: The driving habits of the local denizens is horrible to the max. Driving the 4 lane wide surface streets often feels like a demolition derby. Too many speeders, too many sudden lane cut-offs that make me jam on the brakes. The massive size pick up driving good ole' boys are the absolute worst. They drive like it's their constitutional right to commit vehicular manslaughter and laugh about it afterwards. My life long Roseville resident 34 year old nephew has been seriously rear ended twice in the past two months by teenagers who were texting while driving. Can't wait until 100% autonomous vehicles become the vehicle norm. Maybe I'll just start walking everywhere but then again I'd fear for my life every time I enter a crosswalk. Love y'a Roseville. My fellow citizens please drive like you respect the lives of others.

Though this place can be a bit crowded at times, I usually find a place to sit whether its on a chair/couch or the floor. A good place to study or use their computer when you need it.
